STUDIA ISLAMIKA (ISSN 0215-0492; E-ISSN: 2355-6145) is a journal published by the Center for the Study of Islam and Society (PPIM) UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, Jakarta. It specializes in Indonesian Islamic studies in particular, and Southeast Asian Islamic studies in general, and is intended to communicate original researches and current issues on the subject. This journal warmly welcomes contributions from scholars of related disciplines. STUDIA ISLAMIKA, published three times a year since 1994, is a bilingual journal (English and Arabic) that aims to provide readers with a better understanding of Indonesia and Southeast Asia’s Muslim history and present developments through the publication of articles, research reports, and book reviews from Indonesian and international scholars alike. STUDIA ISLAMIKA has been accredited by The Ministry of Education and Culture, Republic of Indonesia as an academic journal (SK Dirjen Dikti No. 56/DIKTI/Kep/2012).

Leadership and Culture is a collection of Liddle's articles which had been published in some journal and books. Written over the course of 1984-1993, these article were classified into two main themes. Abstract

This article discusses trends and patterns of Islamization inland Javanese descent who performed a local Muslim family in Kalioso, Central Java, in the late 17th century. The question that should be asked is how the Java community process of Islamization in a smaller community level, district or rural? The pattern is used in the process of Islamization that took place at the level of the communities, especially in inland Java? Is it true that the spread of Islam in the villages also run politically, such as the establishment of the Sultanate of Demak, or take a more cultural way?DOI: 10.15408/sdi.v4i2.780

Abstract

Articles written based on the experience of training in this field aims to build awareness of a method that can explain the relationship between religion and reproductive rights of women. Some of the key themes in this article seeks to reexamine the validity of Islamic texts concerning women's rights, the ideological assumptions behind the interpretation of the text, as well as how to build their awareness of the methods of the sexual rights of women.DOI: 10.15408/sdi.v4i2.781

Abstract

When the Dutch colonial period, religious education are taken care of by the two departments, namely the Department van Onderwijst en Eeredinst to religious instruction in public schools and the Department Binnenlandsche Zaken van for teaching religion in Islamic institutions, then the Indonesian independence, the two are taken care of the Department of Islamic teaching religion. The governing must have different properties. Understanding the maintenance of the colonial period was more focused on observing, supervising, and maintaining religious education so as not to harm the interests of the colonial government. Being during the Indonesian independence, the maintenance is manifested in the form of foster, assist, and promote (organization) religious education.DOI: 10.15408/sdi.v4i2.783

Abstract

The study of Islamic reform movement in Indonesia in general give less attention to the genuine character is engaged outside the political arena. Various scientific papers, both national and international levels, as if not take place to the figures, although they are thought to have inspired the emergence of various new movement in Indonesian Islam. This happens not because the figures were not known to the public, but rather that the study of Islamic reform is often written and analyzed within the framework of the social-historical, while ignoring the doctrinal renewal. Abstract

Rahmah al-Yunusiyah was born on December 29, 1900 and grew up in an Islamic family in Padang Panjang in West Sumatra. His father was a religious functionary of the local Isalmic court (qadi) while her gran father was a shaykh of the Nagshabandiyyah sufi order. Her oldest brother, Zainuddin Labai al-Yunusi (1890-1924) was one of the great Islamic reformers in Minangkabau. In 1915, he established the Diniyah school, the first modern Islamic school in Indonesia. In that school, Zainuddin, among other things implemented the classical learning system, co-education and modern sciences at a time when most Islamic school were stil preoccupied with traditional Islamic science.DOI: 10.15408/sdi.v4i2.782
