Abstract

This writing is based on the generalization of understanding towards hadith. It means that all hadiths are understood in the same way without distinguishing the structure of the hadith, whether it is transmitted by wording or meaning (riwayat bi al-lafzh or riwayat bi al-ma’na), the absolute or relative field of the hadith’s content (related to creed and worship) or relative (related to transactions). Hadiths are often only understood with textual interpretation techniques, with only a small portion expanding them with contextual interpretation techniques, both historical and sociological contexts, as an idea. In this context, the understanding of the Prophet’s hadith needs to consider several things, including Prophet Muhammad as the source of information, the companions as recipients of information, the form and scope of the meaning of the Prophet’s hadith, events surrounding the emergence of the Prophet’s hadith, and the social and community conditions that occurred at that time.

Abstract

In the study and research of hadith quality, the science of jarḥ and ta’dīl is one of the important ‘ulūm al-ḥadīth (sciences of hadith) that researchers need to possess. Mastery of this science is crucial for accurately determining whether the hadith under investigation is ultimately accepted (maqbūl) as a ḥujjah (a valid source for Islamic teachings) or rejected (mardūd), deemed unreliable. Hadith scholars have established classifications or degrees and levels of jarḥ, ta’dīl, and ḍabt (precision) for narrators of hadith. Their classifications are clearly evident in the expressions used, both in the statements of jarḥ and ta’dīl, as well as in the statements of ḍabt. This article provides a descriptive analysis of a highly valuable science for hadith research.

Abstract

For a long time, the term “taqlid” has carried a negative connotation, especially when accompanied by the word “blind”. However, in the religious thought tradition of Shia Islam, the term "taqlid" holds a neutral meaning and, in fact, becomes a necessity for its followers. This is a logical consequence of the belief in imamah or leadership, which is one of the fundamental teachings of Shia Islam. Following the opinions of a marja taklid (highest religious authority) is considered obligatory and binding. A Shia adherent who does not obey the religious rulings issued by a mujtahid (jurisconsult) they follow will have all their religious practices deemed invalid. They place scholars on par with other professions, such as doctors and engineers, whose opinions are followed by their clients.

Abstract

This writing reexamines the position of humans in contemporary life. Humans, from ancient times until now, remain a significant enigma and a profound mystery. They are earthly beings, yet distinct from other earthly creatures in various aspects. They possess sacred values, yet cannot be equated with creatures that have been sanctified. This is because humans are a combination of both, filled with various potentials. The language of the Qur'an refers to them as 'Ahsan Taqwim' – the best of creation.

Abstract

The belief in an afterlife has been held by nearly all followers of religions and belief systems since ancient times, long before the advent of Islam, up to the present day. Within the Islamic community, differences in understanding the hereafter arise due to variations in interpreting the Qur’anic verses that are somewhat ambiguous (mujmal). Al-Ghazali, in elucidating the teachings about the afterlife, consistently refers to his opinions based on Qur’anic verses and the sayings of the Prophet. In his elaboration, it can be observed that he follows the flow of information from the Qur’an and the Prophet’s sayings. This means that in his explanations, he often clarifies the meanings contained in the Qur’anic verses and relevant sayings of the Prophet, either literally or figuratively.

Abstract

This paper tries to describe the function of error analysis in teaching and learning target/foreign languages. The term of target/foreign language here, refers to the language which is being learned by the students. While, the term of first language refers to the language which has been mastered earlier by the students, the first language here may also refer to the students’ mother tongue, although in the study of language acquisition the two terms should be differed clearly. This paper also tries to explain the relationship between error analysis and contrastive analysis. Both of the analyses are sometimes used in the teaching and learning of languages. Besides that, this article also presents the causes of errors made by the students, the impacts of the errors in communication, and the techniques to avoid, to reduce and to combat the errors in learning and teaching the target languages. Notes: In this paper there are some signs: * —indicates the part of error, — indicate the missing part that become an error. There are also symbols of phonetics derived from English Pronouncing Dictionary written by Daniel Jones.

Abstract

Language is a portrait of a culture. Through language, one can discern the civilization, social forms, community, and richness of a society. Among the crucial discussions in language is Isytiqaq, as it directly or indirectly influences culture and language. For example, Arabic, which is part of the Semitic languages, becomes unique with the presence of Isytiqaq. Understanding Isytiqaq allows one to comprehend the characteristic similarities in meanings for specific letters. It is one of the studies in language that can broaden the understanding of the meaning of a language. Studying Isytiqaq is a part of the language's own development.

Abstract

Hassan Hanafi was a renowned Egyptian thinker and reformer known for the concept of Islamic Left. Islamic Left emerged when various methods of renewing Muslim societies over several generations yielded only relative success, and for some, outright failure, especially in addressing issues of underdevelopment. Islamic Left drew inspiration from the surprising success of the Islamic revolution in Iran, which captivated the world. Islamic Left sought to develop religious reform not only in confronting contemporary threats such as colonialism, protectionism, capitalism, underdevelopment, and oppression, as championed by al-Afghani. It also aimed at the reconstruction of the reformatory religious thought itself.
