Abstract

Abstract. Critical thinking ability is a Students’ thinking ability in solving questions based on some components of Paul’s and Elder’s critical thinking with indicators used in this research is reasoning element (information, concept, idea, conclusion, and point of view) and reasoning intellectual standard (clear, appropriate, careful, relevant, deep, logical, and wide). The purpose of this research is to describe students critical thinking ability in solving arithmetic sequence and series questions in SMAN 5 Jember. The subject of this research was taken from 29 students of X MIPA 4 were categorized into 3 groups which are high, medium, and low ability based on their mathematic scores in the first semester. Based on the result of the critical thinking ability test and the interview, two subjects which were taken from low ability students were categorized as TKBK 0 (not critical). Three subject which were taken from medium ability students, one subject was categorized as TKBK 1 (less critical) and two subjects were categorized TKBK 2 (critical enough). One subject which was taken from high ability students was categorized as TKBK 3 (critical). From the result of the research, the subject is only able to reach critical level (TKBK 3) and 5 of the other subjects are still in the low critical thinking level which are TKBK 2, TKBK 1 and TKBK 0. Abstract

Abstract.This research aims to describe mathematics representation ability of students’ with impulsive and reflective cognitive style in solving open-ended problem. Instruments which were used are MFFT, open-ended question, and interview. MFFT test used to categorize reflective-impulsive cognitive style. From MFFT test result obtained 2 reflective students and 2 impulsive students who then tested with open-ended problem and interview in order to knowing subjects’ mathematics representation ability in solving open-ended problem. Based on analysis and discussion can be concluded that students with reflective style fulfilled all of the mathematis representation indicators which are visual representation, expression or mathematics equation and words or written text. Students with impulsive cognitive style only fulfilled some of the mathematics representation indicators which are expression or mathematics equations and words or written text. Abstract

Abstract: The aim of this research is to describe self efficacy profile to solve mathematics problems material system of linear equations of two variables in eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Jember. This research is a qualitative research and implemented in academic year 2016/2017. Documentary is used in this research as data collection because the researcher collecting data from UTS of student mathematics, test method, and interview method, while the instrument that being used is a mathematics problem test of system of linear equations of two variables (SPLDV) and interview guidelines. Subjects of this research are all eight grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Jember, consisting of 15 male students and 20 female students. The results showed that students' self efficacy is varied. Of the 35 students who are the subject of research, 28 students of whom have a high self-efficacy, while seven other students have a low self-efficacy. In viewing the students’ self efficacy, the researcher uses self efficacy dimension that is the dimension of level, generality, and strength. In dimension of level, almost all of students indicate an attempt to solve problem with different difficulty levels, although there are still 2 students who do not try to do certain problems but in other problems they are still trying to solve (do). In dimension of generality, the mastery of the students in fields be found in the questions also varies. However, most of them show wide field mastery because they are able to solve the given problem. In the strength dimension, the level of students' confidence in solving the problems and their expectations with the correct answers are also varied. Confidence and hope that is within the students mostly adapted to the attemp they do. Students are said to have a high self efficacy when showing the effort to solve problems with different levels of difficulty (level), mastery of the wide field of (generality), and strong confidence and hope that exist in students according to the efforts they do (strength). Abstract

Abstract.Mathematics learning with cooperative model using STAD type is learning technique which focused on the development of student social skill in the learning activity with teamwork, STAD composed from five stages there is learning material, teamwork, quiz or test, individual score and reward. Comic Learning is a media which can using for anticipate problem when student learn subject material. Role of polamatics in arithmatics comic is for helping student doing multiplication count quick and precise. This research has purpose to reviewing applications STAD assisted comic polamatics otherwise to improve activity and student learning result at VII-C classroom, 04 Jember Junior High School . Reasearch type which was used in this research is qualitative descriptive type, Collecting data method has been using in this research is interview and observation. Research instrument using RPP, Comic Polamatics Media, teacher & student observation sheet and question sheet I and II cycle. Based on research result application STAD assisted comic polamatics increasing activity teacher and student learning result during learning process. Teacher activity increased by 14,41 % while student activity increased by 15,625 % and student learning result increased by 16,78 %. Keywords: STAD, Comic polamatica, learning result

Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to describe students’ thinking process based on creativity components of problem solving in linear equation systems with two variables. This research type is descriptive with qualitative approach. Data collection methods which were used are test and interview. This research subject are 4 students who randomly chosen from a class. Creativity components are fluency, flexibility, and novelty. Result of the research showed that 1 student fulfilled all of three components of creativity, 2 students only fulfilled flexibilty and fluency component and 1 student did not fulfill any of the creativity components. Abstract

Abstract. Mathematical representation is an ability of people to re-express their interpretation about their understanding of a problem. In the practice of learning, students frequently could not represent their own mathematical interpretation. It is caused by many factors, for instance, physical limitations owned by students with visual impairment. In this study, it would be described about mathematical representative in the form of written text, mathematical expressions, verbal representations, and visual representation in understanding the concept of triangles. Therefore, the type of the research is decriptive research with qualitative approach. The subject of the study is 3 students with visual impairment in VII grade in SMPLB-A TPA Jember. The description of mathematical representation of blind students are adjusted to the level of thinking based on Van Hiele theory. Van Hiele divides students' level of thinking into 5 levels: visualization, analysis, informal deduction, deduction, and rigor. The three subjects conduct test of thinking level based on Van Hiele theory, mathematical representation test, and interview. The level category of students’s thinking is figured out through Van Hiele theory. Mathematical representation test is used to comprehend mathematical representation by using written text which containst the written explanation of the subjects towards the triangles and mathematical expression about how the subjects solve the problems of the triangles by using mathematical model. Meanwhile, the interview is used to know the verbal representation which contains the oral explanation about triangle concept and visual representation about how the subject creates the triangle. Abstract

Abstract. Education is one of the factors to the nation's progress. Education is developed through oriented scientific approach. It is acapted in increasing the students thinking ability. Moreover, scientific approach is an approach that trains the students to resolve contextual problems. Therefore, the students ability in resolving the problems can make them in higher order thinking. Especially in implementation of Curriculum 2013 the Student Worksheet (LKS) can cultivate their ability of high order thinking. The purpose of this research is to describe the process and result Development of LKS oriented to scientific approach to improve the higher order thinking ability. The research her use Plomp mode 5 phases, that is preliminary investigation, design, realization, test, evaluation, revision and implementation. The quality achievement criteria of the LKS are validity, practicality and effectiveness. The results of validity data in LKS showed that 3,8 are in a good category, the result of practicality data in LKS showed that the teacher activity during the teaching and learning show is 88,46% in the first meeting, and 92,31% in the second meeting.. The result of effectiveness data in LKS is scored by 1) Student’s activity showed 79% in the first meeting, and 83, 4% in the second meeting; 2) student’s learning outcomes showed 90%; and 3) the result of the student's positive response showed 79% to 86%. Therefore, LKS can be said to be valid, practical and effective. The LKS products are oriented scientific approach with 5M stages and meet higher order thinking level. Abstract

Abstract: PISA performance becames one of important eduacation indicator in a country. Indonesia has decided to join PISA since 2000. However the Indonesian PISA result is not surprising enough. Even, in 2012, Indonesian score in PISA lies at the lowest rank, namely 64 out 65 observed country. One of major factor is the teacher knowledge shortages of solving PISA test as well as most of teachers do not know how to develop a PISA-like test. In this paper, we try to develop a PISA-like test and implement it in a small group of students to assess their mathematical reasoning and communication ability. The result show that, from 26 respondents involved in this research, two students achieves on four level, four students achieve on three level, thirteen students achieve on two level, and seven students achieve on one level. Keywords: Pisa-like math test of change and relationship content, the students’ ability of mathematical reasoning and communication.

Abstract

Abstract. This research aims to produce valid, effective and practicality students’ mathematics work sheet oriented to Scientific Approach to grow High Order Thinking ability in circle equation subject of eleventh grade senior high school. Research type which is used is Plomp’s development research model. Plomp’s development phases consists of 4 phase which are, (1) initial investigation phase; (2) designing phase (3) realisation/construction phase (4) test, evaluation, and revision phase. Subject which is developed is circle equation. Test done to 34 eleventh grader students of XI MIPA 4 MAN 1 Jember .Validation result for students work sheets show that validity cofficient for LKS is 3,69 so students work sheet has valid interpretation category. Students’ activity achievement level at first to third meeting are 84,89%, 82,81%, and 91,67% with very good category for every meeting. Teachers activity percentation at first to third meeting are 85%, 88,33% and 90% with category very good for every meeting. Analysis data learning result showed leaning result completness is 79,41% and students fulfilled 75 to 100 minimum score, while for stuents’ respond questionnaire to every statements components score 93,66% for students who given positive respon. So this mathematics students’ worksheet oriented to scientific approach to grow High Order Thinking ability in circle equation subject of eleventh grade senior high school has fulfilled validity, effectiveness and practicality. Abstract

Abstract. Sociomathematical norms is a rule applied when the process of interaction during the learning of mathematics takes place. Collaborative learning is a group learning where students of various variations in both ability and background work together to interact and learn together to improve the understanding of each member. This study aims to describe the implementation of learning mathematics implementation using collaborative learning model and describe sociomathematical norms in collaborative learning in linear equations one variable topic at VII-B of Junior High School 4 Jember. Indicator of sociomathematical norms in this research is elaborated based on mathematic communication ability and social skill of student in collaborative learning. The type of this research is qualitative descriptive research. The instrument of data collection used is learning tool which include RPP, LKS, observation sheet of learning implementation, observation sheet of sociomatic norms in collaboration activity, and interview guide. Based on the results of the study, 26 out of 35 study subjects had positive confidence categories (P1, P2, and P3) on collaborative activities and had an average percentage of sociomathematical norms, 22 very good students, 12 good students and 1 student were good enough.
