Abstract

The objective this research is to obtain information about the effect of environmenttemperature toward flight inisiation egg parasitoid. The experiment use tool likePrasad ef a/. (1999) method wich a PVC cylinder with measurement of high cylinderis 30 cm and diameter cylinder is 7,5 cm. This experiment arranged in a randomizedcomplete design with three environment temperature (13, 18 & 28 °C ). Flightinisiation consist of short flight (8-10 cm) and far flight (20-30 cm). The results showedsum of adult flight inisiation of short flight reduce at increase temperature but sumof adult flight inisiation of far increase at increase temperature

Abstract

An algal red rust disease was found occuring on all observed tree of three hagambir plantings in Babat Toman Region, South Sumatra during dry season in 2002.The disease is caused by the green alga Cephaleuros sp. of the familyTrentepholiaceae and the division Clorophyta. The algae causes mild leaf spots onyoung trees (7 months-old). On old trees (9 years-old), the algae was found infectingmore severily, causing severe defoliations and dead of twigs and branches. Thisoutbreak may be induced by the low soil fertility, dryness, over-harvesting, and poorsanitation.

Abstract

The test of dosages of Pseudomonas fluorescensto control the damping-off caused Sclerotium rolfsii on pepper, Nasrun and Rustam. The experiment was conducted atLaboratory of The Assessment institute of Agricultural Technology and Screen houseof Food Crop Service of Riau Province from April to July 2003. The objective of theexperiment was to determine the best dosage of Pseudomonas fluorescensto con-trol the damping-off caused Sclerotium rolfsii on pepper. The experiment used ran-domized complete design with five treatment and five replications. The dosages ofPseudomonas fluorescens introduced to the soil were 0,5; 1; 2; 4 ml/1 and control. The results showed that the higher the dosage of Pseudomonas fluorescens intro-duced, the better effective to control the damping-off on pepper.

Abstract

Using of some antagonists fungi to control Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc caused damping-off ofpepper, Ade Yulfida and Rustam. The experiment was conducted at Laboratorium of As-sessment Institute of Agricultural Technology and Screen House of Food Crop Service ofRiau Province, in March to June 2003. Two stage of assessments were in laboratory andscreen house. The experiment consisted of four treatments with five replications in com-pletely randomize design. T h e four treatments were A=Trichoderma harzianum, B =Tricfioderma coningii, C = Gliocladium sp and D = control (Sclerotium rolfsii S a c c ) . Theresult showed that antagonists fungi used were effectively control damping-off of peppercaused Sclerotium rolfsiiSacc. Using fungus of Trichodenna harzianumNasthebesWteaLl-ment in controlling damping-off pepper.

Abstract

Field study of using Bacillus tiiuringiensisto control lettuce leaf worms conducted atfarmers Gardening area in Simpang Baru Panam Pekanbaru. The objectives of thisstudy was to evaluate the response of the lettuce leaf worms to the different level ofB. thuringiensis concentration. Arranged in Randomized Block Design with fourtreatments (concentration of B. thuringiensis 0.0 %, 0.1 %, 0.2 %, and 0.3 %) and fourreplications. The results indicated that there are significant differences In responsto the level of B. thuringiensis concentration (0.0 %, 0.1 %, 0.2 %, and 0.3 %.). Thisindicated also, that B. thuringiensis could be used to control lettuce leaf worms. The effective concentration to control lettuce leaf worms are 0.2 % and 0.3 %.

Abstract

The objectives of this study were to determine the population density of A .craccivora and its dispersion on groundnut plant under different soil water availabitiles. the study was conducted in a greenhouse of Crop and Horticultural Plant Protection Institute Region III, Palembang since August to November 2001 using corrpletely randomized design with four levels of soil water availabilities and four replications. Each replication consisted of two plants, which were planted on different black, polyvinyl bag. The treatments were 40, 60, 80, and 100% soil water availabitiles The results showed that types of dispersion of A. craccivora on the whole part of groundnut planted on all soil water availabilities tested were similat n, each other. The population was found higher on young leave and bud leave, then followed on leaf stalk, f lower/gynophore, and stem respectively. The differences in the length of leaft trachoma , number of stem trichoma, and water content of leave and stem were the determinant factors, which influenced the population of A. craccivora on leave and stem in the maximum of population density.

Abstract

The research was conducted to early detection antimicrobial compound producedby Trichoderma harzianum fungi on March 2003. T. harzianum cultured during 7 daysat temperature 25-30°C and shake velocity at 180 rpm. The secondary metaboliteformed isolated and feactionate with wtil asetat and n-butanol, then antibiosis activ-ity tested againts Sclerotium rolfsii Sacc, caused foot rot in pepper plant and pep-per seeds. The results of experiment showed fractinated compound n-butanol indi-cated antimicrobial activity againts S. rolfsii.
