Abstract

This research aimed to determine the effect of Trichoderma spp. application inpeat medium of Shorea leprosula seedling quality and knowing the bestapplication doses of Trichoderma spp. to increase the growth of Shorea leprosulaseedling. The research used method completely randomized design (CRD) with of5 treatments and 10 replications. The treatment consisted of; T0 = Withoutapplication of Trichoderma spp. 0 gr/polybag; T1 = application of Trichodermaspp. 10 gr/polybag; T2 = application of Trichoderma spp. 20 gr/polybag; T3 =application of Trichoderma spp. 30 gr/polybag; T4 = application of Trichodermaspp. 40 gr/polybag. The research proved that the application of Trichoderma spp.in peat medium can increase the quality of Shorea leprosula seedling. Theapplication of Trichoderma spp. with a doses of 40 gr/polybag in peat medium isthe best treatment to the high growth (2.98 cm), diameter growth (1.56 mm), plantdry weight (3.09 gr) and top root ratio (2.65 gr). Keywords: Shorea leprosula, Trichoderma, peat medium

Abstract

Aphis gossypii (Homoptera: Aphididae) is major pest in red pepper plant who may createdamage. This study aims to test amount row trap plant in order to control attack leaf bug Aphisgossypii Glover (Homoptera: Aphididae) at red pepper plants (Capsicum annum L.). Thisresearch was conducted at the Technical Organizer Unit Trial Garden and Laboratory Plant PestFaculty Agricultural University of Riau, from June to August 2013. This research was carriedout by using a randomized block design (RBD) with 5 treatments and 4 replication withoutplanting trap plant, 2 rows red pepper 1 row mustard, 1 row red pepper 2 rows mustard, 1 rowred pepper 3 rows mustard, 2 rows red pepper 2 rows mustard. The results of the study showedthat planting 2 rows red pepper 2 rows mustard is better because leaf bug trapped too much fromtreatment else with average 22,87 tails in red pepper and 23,06 tails in mustard. Every reductionof populations one tail leaf bug in red pepper, then populations of leaf bug in mustard to go up0,763 %.Keyword: Red pepper (Capsicum annum L.), Aphis gossypii Glover, and mustard (Brassicajuncea L.)

Abstract

Rice is an important food in Indonesia, because it is the staple food for mostpeople. Golden snail (Pomacea canaliculata L.) is an important pest in rice plant.Synthetic chemical pesticides control has many negative impacts such as theoccurrence of pest resistance, pest resurgence and environmental pollution. Theuse of betel nut (Areca catechu L.) as a molluscicides is one of alternative pestcontrol to reduce the use of synthetic chemical pesticides. The purpose of thisstudy is to obtain the exact dose of betel nut flour to control golden snails(Pomacea canaliculata L.) in rice plants. The research was conducted atLaboratory of Plant Pest and Unit Pelaksana Teknis (UPT) Kebun PercobaanFakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau by using a completely randomized designwith 5 treatments and 4 replications. Treatment consists of betel nut flour dose of4 g/clump, 5 g/clump, 6 g/clump, 7 g/clump and 8 g/clump. Doses of betel nutflour 8 g/clump able to control golden snail with a total mortality of 87.49%.Appropriate dose to kill 95% golden snail is 1% or the equivalent of 10 g/clump.Keyword: Rice (Oryza sativa L.), Golden Snail (Pomacea canaliculata L.),Betel nut (Areca catechu L.)

Abstract

Shorea leprosula Miq. is a major timber producing trees and importantcommodity in Indonesia. To get a good quality of Shorea leprosula Miq. shouldbe using proper cultivation techniques. Peat soils potential for growth Shorealeprosula Miq.. Mycorrhiza and Trichoderma spp. can assist the process ofdecomposition of peat soil and improve seedling growth, but need to know thepotential time to apply. This study aims to determine the potential time to applymycorrhizal and Trichoderma spp. in peat medium to boost growth seeds ofShorea leprosula Miq.. This study using a completely randomized design (CRD)consisting of 5 treatments and 10 replications. The treatments used were : T1 =Trichoderma spp. on S-5 and mycorrhiza on S-1, T2 = Trichoderma spp. on S-3and mycorrhiza on S-1, T3 = Trichoderma spp. and mycorrhiza on S-1 , T4 =Trichoderma spp. on S-1 and mycorrhiza on S-3, T5 = Trichoderma spp. on S-1and mycorrhiza on S-5, where S = seedlings were transferred to polybags aftertreatment. Responses were measured to observe the effect of treatments are thesurvival rate of seedlings, seedling height, diameter of the root seedling, plant dryweight and the ratio of crown/root. The results obtained from this study indicatedthat the time of application of Trichoderma spp. at 1 (one) day prior to weaningand mycorrhiza on three (3) days prior to weaning tended to show better results onShorea leprosula Miq. seedling growth. Keywords: Shorea leprosula Miq., Trichoderma spp., Mycorrhizal, peat medium
