Abstract

This research consisted of two stages, the first aimed to determine the best type of liquid organic fertilizer which can be used in the fertilization of tomato plants andthe second aimed to determine the best concentration of liquid organic fertilizer which can be applied to tomato plants. This research purpose was to investigate the response of tomato plant (Solanum licopersicum Mill.) as shown byitsyield and quality.  This research used a Randomized Completely Block design in which seventreatmentsof different concentrations and two types of liquid organic fertilizers were applied.  The treatments significantly affected the number of tomato fruits but not on their weight and diameter as well as the content of C vitamin. Best yield and quality of the tomatoes was found in the gremont liquid organic fertilizer at the concentration of 2.4 ml/80 ml water. Keywords: Liquid organic fertilizer, Quality and Yield of tomato.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Petimbe Village, Palolo District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. It held in July to September 2015. This research used Split Plot Design. The main plot was sheiter (N0) = Not in sheiter and (N1) = in sheiter and sub plots were various types of much (M0) = no mulch (M1) = rice straw mulch (M2) =black plastic mulch (M3) = silver plastic mulch. The observation variablewere height of plants (cm),at age of 30 and 40 DAP,number of leaves at age of 30 and 40 DAP, weight of fresh tubers per clump, and weight of fresh tuber per 5 clumps (g). The result of the research showed that the treatment of various types of mulch had no real effect on the growth of Napu cultivarsonion in terms of plant height and number of leaves, the treatment of plastic containtment just hasreal effect only on the number of leaves at 40 DAP. However, it has not real effect on height of the plants, and the treatmentshas real effect on theyields increasing of onion including the numbers of leaves at 40 HST and had no real effect on the numbers of fresh tuber clump, fresh tuber per 5 clumps. The aims of the research was to learn and know the effect of containment and mulch on growth and yield of Napu red onion cultivar. Keywords : Cultivar Napu, Mulch, Onions,  and Plastic Sheiter.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the efficiency of use of inputs of land, seed, fertilizer, labor, and pesticides on the farm production of paddy in Posona village, Kasimbar District, Parigi Moutong Regency. This research was conducted in December 2015.The data used in this study derived from primary and secondary data. The number of respondents used as many as 34 farmers were selected using simple random sampling technique. The analysis used is the Cobb Douglas production function analysis. The results showed that simultaneous independent variable (Xi) has significant effect on the dependent variable (Y) except the variable oflabor (X4), and pesticides (X5). Aspartial, land area (X1), seeds (X2), and fertilizers (X3), significantly affect the production of paddy in the Village Posona, Kasimbar District Parigi Moutong Regency, with the value of sig 0.000 <0.05 in α 5%. Analysis of efficiency showsed that the total value (k) of the variable land area (X1), seeds (X2), fertilizers (X3) labor (X4) and pesticides (X5), was greater than 1, it mean that all production inputs used in farming rice paddy in the village of Posona,in terms of the price of each input is expressed not efficient production except labor variable (X4) and Pesticides (X3) having a value of 0:01 and 0 which is smaller than 1 so inefficient. Key Words :Efficiency, Farming, Input, and Paddy.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the best ratio of powdered cocoa pod husk for bio-capsule production and to determine damage of polyphenol powder and antioxidant after encapsulation ofcocoa pod husk. In this study, absolute ethanol solvent as a polar solvent was used to extract polyphenol compounds.  A Completely Randommized design with treatments of four different wieghts of cacao pod husk were used i.e. 20g, 25g, 30g and 35 g.  The highest capacity of antioxidant and supplement was shown by the 20 g cocoa pod husk treatment containing 11803.56 mg ascorbat, 83.15 g total phenol ase gallat.  This results indicate that the total phenol of the cacao pod husk decrease by 77.40% along with lowering antioxidant capacity by 18.66%.  Decreased level of the total phenol and antioxidant capacity is due to damage occuring during concenrating and drying proceses of the supplement materials. Keywords: Cocoa pod husk, Exraction and Supplements.

Abstract

Research aimswas to studies the of response localrainfed lowland riceon the application of organic matter invarious condition of thewater availability. Research was carried out in February until June 2015, in a screen house of BalaiBenih, Petobo Sub-district, South Palu, Central Sulawesi. This study was arranged infactorial randomized block design, first factor was the availability of water, consists of 4 levels that were the field capacity, 85% of the field capacity, 70% of the field capacity, and55 % of field capacity. The second factor consisting of two rates of organic matter, namely without bokashi fertilizer andbokashi fertilizer.Every treatment was repeated three times so there are 24 units of experiments.Every unit of experiment consisting of 2 plants so there are 48 populations of plant. The result showed that the application of 70% of field capacity can obtain higher plant andmore younger plant than others treatment at the beginning growth. The application of organic matter seem no effect at the beginning growth. There is no significant difference of the application of organic matter at all the availability of water condition. Keywords : Gogo local rice , Organic material,  and  The availability of water.

Abstract

Cocoa pod disease (BBK) caused by the fungus Phytophthora palmivora is one of the prime diseases that can affect cocoa production systems in the world . This disease can cause yield losses of up to 90 % , especially in the rainy season and the dry season. The objective of the research is to determine theinhibitor abilityof fungus A. niger in various carriesr and storage time durationonPhytophtora palmivora causing rotten disease of cocoa. This is an experimental research designed by using Random Complete Design with  factorial patern, that were carries and storage period with 3 replication, factor 1: (P0 = control), (P1 = white glutinous rice flour + cassava starch), (P2 = cassava starch). (P3 = white glutinous rice flour + sweet corn flour), (P4 = white glutinous rice flour), (P5 = ripe coconut flour). Factor 2: (A1 = 1 week storage period), (A2 = 2 weeks storage period), (A3 = 3 weeks storage period), (A4 = 4 weeks storage period). Result of the research showed that the carrier of white glutinous rice flour + sweet corn flour (P3) and ripe coconut flour (P5) and in A3 storage period (3 weeks) is more effective to inhibiting P.palmivora growth, therefore can be used as a carrier to support A.niger fungus growth. Key words: Aspergillusniger, Cacao, and Carrier

Abstract

This study aims was to determine the characteristics of citrus plants basedon theirmorphology and anatomy of leafat Dodaand Lempe Villages, Lore Tengah District-Poso Regency. The observation of morphologywas conducted in the field in both villages, while the anatomical observation was conducted at Science and Seed TechnologyLaboratory and Pest and Disease Laboratory of Agriculture Faculty of Tadulako University from October to November2015.The morphology variable observed was the shape and color of the trunk, branching form, canopy, canopydiameter, trunk surface, leaf adges and ends shape, leaf symmetry, flus color, leaf upper and upper and lower surface, leaf mesophyl, leaf size, petiole shape and length. The anatomy consist of density and stomata index. The result showed that morphology and anatomy characteristics observed based on cluster analysis drawn in the shape of dendogram. The results of cluster analysis was obtained that the citrus in both villages has two or three accessions, this initial finding can be used later to discover good quality of citrus seedling. Keywords: Citrus Anatomy, Dendogram, and Morphology.
