Abstract

This research was conducted in Petimbe Village, Palolo District, Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. It held in July to September 2015. This research used Split Plot Design. The main plot was sheiter (N0) = Not in sheiter and (N1) = in sheiter and sub plots were various types of much (M0) = no mulch (M1) = rice straw mulch (M2) =black plastic mulch (M3) = silver plastic mulch. The observation variablewere height of plants (cm),at age of 30 and 40 DAP,number of leaves at age of 30 and 40 DAP, weight of fresh tubers per clump, and weight of fresh tuber per 5 clumps (g). The result of the research showed that the treatment of various types of mulch had no real effect on the growth of Napu cultivarsonion in terms of plant height and number of leaves,the treatment of plastic containtment just hasreal effect only on the number of leaves at 40 DAP. However, it has not real effect on height of the plants, and the treatmentshas real effect on theyields increasing of onion including the numbers of leaves at 40 HST and had no real effect on the numbers of fresh tuber clump, fresh tuber per 5 clumps.The aims of the research was to learn and know the effect of containment and mulch on growth and yield of Napu red onion cultivar. Keywords : Cultivar Napu, Mulch, Onions,  and Plastic Sheiter.

Abstract

This experiment was conducted in Petimbe Village Palolo District Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi. This experiment used Split Plot Design. The main plot was containment: (N0) = without containment, and (N1) = plastic containment. The subplot was various mulch types: (M0) = without mulching, (M1) = rice straw mulching, (M2) = black plastic mulching, and (M3) = silver plastic mulching. Variables observed were plant height at 40 DAP, the number of leaves at 40 DAP, weight of fresh tuber per clump, the number of fresh tuber per clump and the weight of fresh tubers per five clumps. Result of this experiment showed that plastic containment had a significant effect on the number of leaves (28,38%), but had insignificant effect on plant height. Plastic containment and mulching had a significant effect on the weight gain of fresh tubers per clump (23.50 g) and the weight of fresh tubers per five clumps (12.33 g), but had insignificant effect on the number of fresh tubers per clump. Silver plastic mulching applied with plastic containment resulted in the highest number of tubers (7.47%) compared with without mulching as well as without containment. Key Words : Lembah Palu Variety, mulch, Onion, plastic containment.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the resistance of several local upland rice cultivar resistances to various levels of water avaibality, to find local upland rice which had better growth and to find the level of water status that could reduce the growth of upland rice.  This research was conducted at the Agrotecnology Green House, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University Palu. This research was conducted from August 2017 to Jaunary 2018. This research was a two-factorial randomized block design.  The first factor was various local rice upland cultivars i.e. Kalendeng, Tagolu, Logi, and Uva Buya, The second factor was different water availability levels i.e field capacity (FC), 75% FC, 50% FC, and 25% FC. Kalendeng Cultivar was found to grow well only at FC water content, Tagolu and Uva Buya cultivars down to 75% FC, and Logi Cultivar was able to grow well even at drier condition down to 50% FC.  Tagolu and Logi cultivar grow better compared to other cultivars.

Abstract

The need for rice as one of the main food sources of the Indonesian population continues to increase in line with the increase of population with a rate of 2% per year. The objective of this research is to know the response of four cultivars of upland rice to different soil moisture content, drought resistant cultivars and water content where cultivars are difficult or can not grow. The research was conducted at Green House Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University of Palu. From March to June 2017. This research was prepared using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) two factors consisting of local rice cultivar as first factor that is Cultivar Tagolu, Cultivar Habo, Uva Buya Cultivar and Cultivar Dongan. While Soil Humidity Level as the second factor soil moisture level 100%, 75%, 50% and 25%. The results showed that the Habo cultivar and Dongan cultivars have long and wider leaves, the number of grains contained, the number of tillers, the number of leaves, and the weight of 1000 grains better compared to other cultivars. At 75% and 50% soil moisture levels can still grow crops well compared to 25% moisture level. The influence of soil moisture level is similar in all cultivars.

Abstract

The aim of this research was to study the growth of sugar palm seedling from different altitudes of mother plant, growing in different organic media. The experiment was conducted at Seed Technology Laboratory and Academic Garden of Agronomy Department, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University, from February to July 2008. The experimental design was factorial randomized block design with two factors. The first factor was seed from different altitudes of mother plant sources, i.e, : from Parigi (<500 m asl), from Palolo (500-1,000 m asl), and from Napu (>1,000 m asl). The second factor was types of organic fertilizers added on soil taken from sugar palm land. The organic fertilizer treatments were without fertilizer, manure, compost of rice husk, and sugar palm residue. Each experimental unit was comprised of 25 seeds with three replications. The results showed that seeds from Parigi grown in media with compost of rice husk gave a better growth than other treatments. Germination percentage at this treatment was 88.01% and dry weight of seedlings was 0.41 g in average, eligible to be transferred to main nursery.

Abstract

Exploration carried out in the filosphere area (leaves) and rhizosphere area (roots) in upland rice plants to get the type of microbes that have potential that can be utilized as biological fertilizer sources, such as N2 fastening microbes, plant growth microbes or phosphate solvent microbial as well as those acting as natural enemies. The research was conducted by location survey method. Determination of location is done by purposive sampling, which is the location of upland rice cultivated by farmers in Kulawi District. The results showed that 10 isolates were isolated from epiphytic and endophytic microbes and endophytes. Morphological tests showed differences in color, shape, elevation, edge, texture and size and the coloring test showed that the bacteria had Coccus cell forms, Bacill, Diplococcus and Semi-Bacillus.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of the Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Program (P3K) on increasing the income of corn farmers in Paleleh District, Buol Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. This type of research is developmental studies, namely research that aims to determine the development of the subject. The data for this study were obtained by respondents from corn farmers in Paleleh District, Buol Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. The hypothesis testing technique uses multiple linear regression analysis. The results of the analysis show that the Poverty Reduction Acceleration Program as measured by the variables of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and processing simultaneously has a significant effect on farmers' income from corn farming. The partial test results prove that the variables of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and processing have a significant effect on farmers' income from corn farming in Paleleh District, Buol Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. This indicates that optimizing the strategy of providing seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, and their processing can change the quality of corn farmers' harvests which can have an impact on people's desire to buy crops while being able to increase the income of corn farmers in the area, especially in Paleleh District, Buol Regency, Sulawesi Province. Abstract

The aim of the study was to examine the relationship between nitrate reductase activity and N uptake, tissue N content, N uptake, and chlorophyll content of corn plants in intercropping patterns which are given corn-soybean litter and biochar. The use of plant litter and biochar derived from crop residues as a source of organic matter in different intercropping patterns affected nitrate reductase activity, tissue N content, N uptake, and chlorophyll content of maize. This experiment was carried out on sub-optimal Sidondo land, Central Sulawesi with the main limiting factors being the availability of water and alkaline soil pH (7.21) which were arranged in a divided plot design with five litter treatments as subplots and five cropping patterns as the main plot with three replicates. Parameters observed were N levels, plant tissue N uptake, chlorophyll, and nitrate reductase activity. Collected data were analyzed using Anova and Duncan's multiple random tests. The results showed that corn litter, soybean mixed corn + soybean litter and their biochar in different intercropping patterns affected nitrate reductase activity, nitrogen uptake, chlorophyll levels very significantly (P˂0.01), increased nitrate reductase activity by 9710.86 mol NO2- -1g-1hour-1 at the age of 55 DAP, while N uptake (2237 mg.kg-1), tissue N content (4.33%), and total chlorophyll content (10.61 mg.l-1) were the highest in the litter treatment, corn and soybeans as well as biochar in corn and soybean intercropping (1:2), and (2:4). Thus, the provision of corn and soybean litter and biochar in intercropping systems can increase nitrate reductase activity, N uptake, tissue N levels, and corn chlorophyll levels in the corn-soybean intercropping system. Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the effect of the Poverty Alleviation Acceleration Program (P3K) on increasing the income of corn farmers in Paleleh District, Buol Regency, Central Sulawesi Province. The analysis results show that the poverty alleviation acceleration program in Paleleh District, Buol, significantly influences corn farmers' income. The study results indicate that the poverty alleviation program implemented by the Paleleh district government, has a specificity in term of reducing processing costs. The results showed that the poverty alleviation acceleration program in Paleleh District, Buol, Central Sulawesi Province can be one of the steps in handling poverty alleviation of the community in the area. Furthermore, it is more likely to increase the income of corn farmers in Paleleh District, Buol Regency, Central Sulawesi Province.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilakukan di Desa Petimbe, Kecamatan Palolo, Kabupaten Sigi, Provinsi Sulawesi Tengah. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Petak Terpisah. Petak utama adalah sungkup: (N0) = Tidak disungkup dan (N1) = Disungkup plastik dan Sub petak adalah berbagai jenis mulsa : (M0) = tanpa mulsa, (M1) = mulsa jerami padi, (M2) = mulsa plastik hitam dan (M3) = mulsa plastik perak. Variabel pengamatan yaitu tinggi tanaman umur 40 HST dan jumlah daun (helai) umur 40 HST, berat umbi segar perumpun, jumlah umbi segar perumpun (umbi) dan berat umbi segar per 5 rumpun. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perlakuan sungkup berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah daun (28,38%), namun tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman. Sungkup plastik dan mulsa berpengaruh nyata terhadap peningkatan berat umbi segar perumpun (23,50 g) dan berat umbi segar per 5 rumpun (12,33 g), namun tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah umbi segar perumpun. Mulsa plastik perak yang menggunakan sungkup menghasilkan jumlah umbi terbanyak (7,47%) dibandingkan dengan perlakuan tanpa mulsa dan tanpa sungkup.
