Abstract

Onions (Allium cepa) is one type of horticultural commodities which has great opportunities in the agribusiness sector. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of botanical pesticide made from chilly (C. annuum) and garlic (A. sativum) on mortality of larvae of S. exigua. The research was carried out in the Laboratory of Plant Pests, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University. The study took place from September to December 2015. This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with seven treatments; each treatment was repeated three times so there were 21 experimental units. The composition of the treatment were as follows: Control (water only, p0), 2ml fresh chili/100 mlwater (p1),4 ml rotten chili/100 ml water (p2),6 ml fresh garlic/100 ml water (p3), 8 ml rotten garlic/100 ml water (p4), 10 ml mixed of rotten garlic and rotten chili /100 ml water (p5), 12 ml mixed of fresh chili and fresh garlic/100 ml water (p6). Highest rate of S. exigua  mortality was found in the p5 treatment ranging from 83% - 96% at three to four days of the treatment application. It suggest that this application is very effective in controlling the larvae of S .exigua in onion leaves.Keywords: Mortality, Spodoptera exigua Hubner, and Vegetable pesticides.

Abstract

Penyakit layu fusarium atau dikenal dengan penyakit moler adalah salah satu penyakit penting pada pertanaman bawang merah, yang menimbulkan banyak kerugian dibeberapa sentra produksi. pengendalian penyakit moler pada saat ini masih ditekankan pada teknik pengendalian dengan menggunakan fungisida, sehingga dipertimbangkan pilihan lain, yaitu dengan menggunakan agensia pengendali hayati.  jamur Aspergillus niger salah satu jamur yang bersifat antagonis sehingga berpotensi untuk dikembangkan sebagai salah satu alternatif pengendalian penyakit layu fusarium.  Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efektifitas jamur A.  niger sebagai jamur antagonis terhadap jamur   Fusarium oxysporum. Metode pengujian adalah dengan meletakkan isolat jamur A. niger secara bersamaan dalam media PDA dengan isolat F. oxysporum pada posisi berlawanan, kemudian diinkubasi sampai terjadi pertautan antara kedua koloni jamur, metode ini terus dilakukan dengan isolat jamur A. niger pada umur kultur berbeda sesuai perlakuan yaitu K1 6 hari, K2 8 hari, K3 10 hari, K4 12 hari.  Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa umur kultur yang berbeda dapat mempengaruhi laju pertumbuhan jamur A. niger dalam menekan pertumbuhan Jamur patogen F. oxysporum.  Perlakuan yang paling efektif dalam menekan pertumbuhan jamur  F. oxysporum yaitu P1 dengan kultur awal yang berumur 6 hari. Kata kunci: Aspergillus niger, Fusarium oxysporum, Layu Fusarium, Uji Antagonis.

Abstract

The purpose of this study wastodetermine the income and the feasibility of wetland rice farming in Salemba village Ujung Loe district Bulukumba regency. A total number of 35 farmers were purposively selected as respondents. Data was analyzed using revenue and feasibility analyses. The results showed that the wetland rice income was IDR7,113,014.19/ha. The wetland rice farming is feasible to be developed as indicated by the R/C value of 2.36 suggesting that for every IDR 100 spent will generate revenue of IDR 236. Key words: Income, Feasibility, and Wetland rice farming.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the marketing mix on sale volumes at the Hasanuddin KFC restaurant in Palu. The independent variables included were product (x1), price (x2), place/location (x3), and promotion (x4) whereas the dependent variablewas the volume of sales (Y). Respondents comprised of 31 persons i.e. one manager and 30 consumers selected using a purposive sampling technique through a questionnaire completed by the respondents. Data were analyzed using a multiple linear regression analysis. The regression analysis obtained was Y = 6,582 + 0.074x1 + 0.059x2 + 0.200x3 + 0.837x4. The F test shows that the product, the price, the place of distribution channels, and the promotionsimultaneouslyinfluence the sale volume with the F-counted value of 278,228at a significant level of 0.000. The analysis also indicates that the values of the t test were 3,692 for the product, 2,857 for the price,9,775 for the distribution channels/spot and 20.190 for the promotion with all these variables partially had significant influence on the sale volume. The value of adjusted R squarewas 98% suggested that the sales volume is 98% influenced by the independent variables such as product, price, distribution channels/spot, and the promotion while the remaining 2% is influenced by other variables not examined. Keywords: Marketing mix, Multiple regression analysis, and Sale Volume.

Abstract

Central Sulawesi is one of Indonesias rice-producing areas potentially to be developed due to its vast area and abundant resources.The purpose ofthis research was to determine the income and feasibility of wetland rice farming system in Sienjo village Toribulu sub district of Parigi Moutong district. The number of samples of 31 respondents was drawn from a population of 102 farmers using a simple random sampling technique.The average revenue generated by the farmers was IDR 17,400,768/1.03 ha/planting season (PS) or IDR. 16,856,992/ha/PS with an average cost ofIDR. 8.797.013/1.03ha/PS or 8.540.790/ha/PS, therefore the average income was IDR 8,603,760/1.03ha/PS or IDR. 8.334.892/ha/PS. The feasibility value ofthe wetland farming system in Sienjo village Toribulu subdistrict of Parigi Moutongdistrict was 1.98 indicating that  any expenditure of IDR 100 will generate revenue of  IDR 198. Thus, thewetland rice farming in the Village of Sienjo is feasible to be developed. Keywords:Feasibility, Income, Wetland rice farming.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to discover the characteristics or the features of several local upland rice cultivars and thesimilarity of the cultivars based on cluster analysis. It was a field research conducted at Sidondo 3 Agricultural ExperimentalStation (BPTP) of Sigi Sub-district of Sigi Biromaru Regencyof Central Sulawesi. The research started in February to June 2016.Cluster analysis was applied to visualize multivariate data on seven cultivar treatments, namely Walnut, Tokalang, Habo, Toni, Jenggi red glutinous rice, Sampar, and Ranta. Each cultivar was grown in a seedbed where then the cultivar was characterized to determineits features and characteristics. Based on the dendogram analysis of the seven local upland rice cultivars, it was found that inthe distance of 15, there are five different cultivars (no genetic relationship), namely Walnut, Habo, Ranta, Tokalang, and Toni. The two cultivars with very close genetic relationship are Jenggi red glutinous rice and Sampara. It is suggested that they from the same male parent. In the distance of 18, there are five cultivars which have a very close genetic relationship, namely Habo, Ranta, Jenggi red glutinous rice, Sampara, and Tokalang.  They are most likely from the same male parent. Key Words: Characterization, Cluster analysis, and Local upland rice.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the form of marketing channels, the margin level at each marketing channel and the marketing efficiency of ‘Diana’ banana saleindustry. The research location was purposively selected with considerations that the industry was one of banana industries that meetthe criteria of efficiency and was run its marketing process accordingly.The numbers of respondents were three people including the industry leader, a worker and a retailer.  Data was analyzed using marketing margin and marketing efficiency analyses.  The research results showed that the marketing margin was IDR 2,000 at channel one and IDR 5,000 at channel two.  The marketing efficiency of the channel two was higher than the channel one as shown by the efficiency value of 15.66 at the first channel and that of 8.00 at the channel two. Key Words: Banana sale, ‘Diana’ industry, and Marketing

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the mechanism of supply chain management of Palu fried onions. Itwas research carried out in various places i.e.Soulowe village of Sigi Biromaru subdistrict, Abdul Rahman Saleh street of Palu, Kiranti street of Nunu village of Palu, Wombo Kalonggo village, and Masomba of Palu and conducted during July 2016. Respondents were 23 people consisted of 14onion suppliers, two whole salers, one retailer, three manufacturers, and three customers. Data was analyzed descriptively. The analysis showed that: (1) the structure of the supply chain members werefarmers - traders - industry - retailers/markets - consumer, where each chain has its own function; 2) the flow pattern of the supply chain of Palu fried onions had four channels: product channel flowing from farmers to end consumers, two-way information channel flowing from farmers and such marketing agents as collectors and retailers to consumers, fund channel flowing from consumers to retailers, industry, collector and farmers, and activity channel flowing from farmers to retailers/markets; (3) business partnership that has been well intertwinedwas astrategy for supply chain management of the Palu fried onion. Keywords: Palu fried onions, and Supply chainmanagement

Abstract

Banana plant is a plant easily cultivated and is often found to being able to grow and develop well in various agro-ecological conditions. Banana skipper E. Thrax is a destructive pest which make leaves to roll by cutting and feeding a section of a leaf, starting from the edge of the leaf running parallel to the main leaf bone and glued with whitely fine threads discharged by the larvae of E. Thrax. The purpose of this study was to determine the type, quantity, and level of parasitism parasitoid of banana skipper at different altitude sites (lowlands and highland areas). In the highlands, two parasitoids were found namely Bracemeria lasus, and Cotesia erionotae. The percentage of Erionata Thrax was found highest in which of 60 Erionata Thrax samples observed four samples was attacked by Cotesia erionotae (6.667%) at the fourth month of observation. The lowest was Bracemeria lasus (1.176%) in which of 85 samples only one sample attacked at the first month observation.  In the lowlands, the highest percentage was found in the second and fourth month observation where 3.333% of 60 samples was attacked by Cotesia erionotae parasitoids. While the lowest percentage of parasitoid attacks was found at the first month observation in which only one sample was attacked out of 85 samples (1.176%). These results shows that the percentage of parasitoids in the highlands has no significant effect on that of in the lowlands. Keywords: Banana, E.tharax, Parasitoids.
