Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the effects of growth regulators (ZPT) Growtone on pineapple seed growth (Ananas comosus L). The research used a Randomized Block design with seven treatmentsconsisting of without plant growth regulator, concentration 2 g Growtone/stem cutting,4 g Growtone/stem cutting,6 g Growtone/stem cutting, 8 g Growtone/ stem cutting, 10 g Growtone/stem cutting dan 12 g Growtone/stem cutting. All treatments were replicated 3 times, so there were 21 experimental units. The observation variables included plant height, leaf number, root length, and total fresh weight. Theconcentrations of theplant growth regulator (ZPT) Growtone at 2-12 g/stem cutting resulted in higher plant height, larger number of leaves and roots, longer root and largert fresh weight of the plant than without the growth regulator.

Abstract

The study aimed to determine the added value generated by the processing of palm oil into crude palm oil (CPO) at  the Pasangkayu Astra Agro Lestari limited company. The research location was purposively selected considering that the company is one of the largest companies in West Sulawesi producing CPO. The study used respondents consisted of the company leader and its employees. Primary and secondary data were used. The value added of palm oil processing into CPO was calculated using the Hayami analysis. The results show that the added value generated by the Pasangkayu Astra Agro Lestari limited company was IDR 29,047,891,308 with the added value ratio of 60.89%, the profit rate of 95.75% and the revenue earned of IDR 6,416,957,304.

Abstract

This research aimed to determine maximum production, maximum profit and resource allocation used to maximize the benefit of solid organic fertilizers in Farmer Natural community in Oluboju village Sig iBiromaru sub-districtof Sigi Regency. The research was conducted in February-March 2017. Types of data used in this research were primary and secondary data. The primary data obtained by means of observation and direct interviews with the respondents i.e. the Chairman of the Farmers Natural Community, its treasurer, its secretary and one of its members, while the secondary data obtained from several literatures, journals as well as from related agencies that support this research. Analytical tools used in this research were the Linear Programming and Sensitivity analyses. The results showed that the maximum profit obtained from the solidorganic fertilizer businessby the farmer Natural Community was IDR 2,804,144 withthe maximum production of 4,307 kg.The allocation of the resources used to achieve the maximum profits was 22 daily hoursworked per labor, raw materialsof 5,027 kg, and capital of IDR 3,217,659. The production generated by the community was 3,000 kg per month at the rate of raw material used was 3,500 kg per month.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine P concentration at various leaf physiological age and the availability of soil P on smallholder cocoa plantations. Cacao leaf samples were taken by purposive sampling at two villages namely Bobo and Maku. The soil samples were taken at 0-30 cm layer from the cacao crown area of similar trees where the leaves were taken. The data obtained was analyzed using regression test and T test. This study indicated that the soil P concentration in the Bobo and Maku villagesis positively correlated to the P concentration at various leaf physiological age. P concentration of young leaves, adult leaves and senesens leaves in Bobo Village and Maku Village had significantly different values, where the P concentration of young leaves is higher than the adult and senesensleaves. The average P concentration of the cocoa leaf and P available in Bobo and Maku Village had significant differences where the highest leaf P concentration was found in Bobo Village while the highest available P concentration in soil was found in Maku village.

Abstract

This aim of the study was to determine the cropping systems of small holder cocoa plantations on the intensity of VSD (Vascular streak dieback) attacks. This study would be useful information for farmers on how to control VSD attacks on cocoa plantation particularly in Central Bungku. The research used descriptive methods. Data collected in this study was done through survey on two types of cacao plantations i.e. polyculture system and monoculture system. It was found that the attacks of the VSD disease were more intense in the monoculture system than its counterpart.  The intensity of the VSD attack was 2.58% in the monoculture system whereas it was only 1.48% in the polyculture system.

Abstract

This study aimed to investigate the characteristics of mangosteen based on its leaf morphology and anatomy in Kulawi sub district. The morphology observations were made in the Bolapapu, Boladangko and Namo villages while the anatomy were analyzed in the Plant Pest and Disease Science laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture Tadulako University from Mei-Augustus 2017. the morphological and anatomical character observed were based on the cluster analyses and presented in the form of dendogram. The results of the cluster showed that in the three villages at the distance of 0.58, there are five accessions i.e. Bolapapu-02, Bolapapu-07, Bolapapu-10, Boladangko-01 and Namo-07.

Abstract

Noodles is one of the most popular carbohydrate-rich food products in Indonesia which is often used as an alternative staplefood.Noodle products have been produced using wheat flour as its their main raw material.  However, some of it can be substituted with corn starch as it can provide very high nutrient content such as carbohydrates, etc. The objective of this research was to determine the optimal formulation of dry noodle made from mixture of corn starch andwheat flourwhich has good physicochemical characteristic in various ratios and to determine the level of panelist acceptance to the dry noodle organoleptic properties. The noodles were analyzed for their  water content, ash content, swelling power, cooking loss, water holding capacity (WHC) and oil holding capacity (OHC), and organoleptic properties (color, flavor, taste). This study used a Completely Randomize design with the treatments were the formulation ratio of corn starch and wheat flour i.e. 100:0; 90:10; 80:20; 70:30; 60:40; 50:50;40:60 and 30:70.The results of this study indicated that WHC, OHC, swelling power , cooking loss, moisture content, and ash content of the dry corn noodles tended to increase with the decrease of corn starch, but the value of the sensory properties test data has a tendency to increase as the corn starch reduced. Themixture of corn starch and wheat at the ratio of 40: 60 resulted in the most optimal physicochemical characteristics as well as the most preferred noodle by the panelists.

Abstract

Local shallot of Palu famousfor its fried onion product of Palu is one of the main commodities specific to central sulawesi. The purpose of this research was to determine the effects of Abamectin insecticide and trap plant on Liriomyza sp. pest in Lembah Palu shallot variety plantation. The research was conducted in Petobo subdistrict, South Paludistrict and lasted from October 2016 to January 2017. This research used a randomized block design (RBD) consisting of four treatment; trap crop and abamectin, trap crop, abamectin, and control. The observed variables were leafminer species, imago population and the intensity of the pest attact on the shallot. The research obtained tree species of Liriomyza:L. chinensis, L.huidobrensis and L. sativae. The most effectivetreatment in controlling the Liriomyza sp.attacks was the combination of trap crop and abamectin insecticideswhichcould reduce the leafminersattackby up to 19.5%.
