Abstract

Tadulako University's Education Forest is one of Sulawesi's endemic wildlife habitats, namely Babyrousa babyrussa. The babirusa population is decreasing due to illegal hunting and illegal mining that destroys wildlife habitat. So it is necessary to conduct research on the composition of the Babirusa habitat vegetation. The study aimed to determine the composition of the Babirusa habitat vegetation in the Educational Forest Zone. Using a method of analysis of double plot vegetation which is placed by Purposive sampling as many as 3 square-shaped observation plots measuring 40 m x 40 m in the spot where the traces of babirusa are found. Each plot is made of 4 sub-plots measuring 20 m x 20 m for tree level, 10 m x 10 m pile level, 5 m x 5 m sapling level and 2 m x 2 seedling level. The results of the study found 29 types in 27 families of which 13 species in 12 families including Babirusa feed. 5 types of plants that comprise vegetation that are always found at the study site, besides the types of Dillenia sp., Are food sources of Babirusa (Babyrousa babyrussa): Pangium edule, Palaqum obtusilfolium Bulq, Lithocarpus elegans (Blume) Hatus. Ex Soepadmo, Calamus sp. The Index of Similarity in 3 study locations, at all vegetation levels ranged from 60.30% - 84.07% or> 75%. So that the composition of the vegetation of the three locations is considered almost the same. Keywords: composition of vegetation, babirusa habitat, forest education

Abstract

This study aims to determine the value of land use / cover vegetation index in the protected forest area of Sejoli Village, Moutong District, Parigi Moutong Regency using the latest landsat 8 recording images in 2015. The study was conducted for three months from November to January 2016, located in the Sejoli Village Protection Forest in Moutong District, Parigi Moutong Regency. The method used in this study is the Landsat image classification technique, which classifies land use / cover to analyze the vegetation index value of land use / cover in protected forests using Landsat imagery 8 latest recording in 2015. Landsat data is processed with AcrGIS version 10 software with several stages include: correction of Geometric and Radiometric, interpretation and image classification (supervised classification), and NDVI analysis (Normalized Differenced Vegetation Index) to determine the level of vegetation density. NDVI analysis results show the digital value of the class of vegetation density is very dense with a range of 0.43 - 0.60 with an area of 1549.59 ha or 81.87% in the class of land use namely primary forest and secondary forest, medium vegetation density with a range of 0.33 - 0.42 with an area of 328.73 ha or 17.37% in the land use class namely plantation and shrub, sparse vegetation density with a range of -0.11 - 0.32 with an area of 14.38 ha or 0.76% in the land use class, namely water, settlements and open land. Keywords: Protection Forest, Vegetation Index, NDVI, Landsat.

Abstract

thing as an implication is the high endemicity because the eastern region of Indonesia consists of more clusters of small islands, making many species isolated and ultimately having to adjust to their habitat and environment. Association is the interdependence between species and other types. Both animals and plants from the simplest to the high-rise ones. The purpose of the study was to find out the types of birds and their associations found in the Forest Education Area of Tadulako University, Bolano Lambunu District, Parigi Moutong Regency. This research was conducted for 3 months, from April to June 2016. The method of data collection in this study included the collection of primary data and secondary data. In this study, the transect pathway method is used which is a method used in which the observer walks by following the direction and location of the center line of the transect slowly while recording the types of birds encountered, both directly (visually) and indirectly. This observation is done by determining the observation points as many as 10 points and placed on the left and right transect lines along the 500 meters. In this study one transect line was used. The Forest Education Area of Tadulako University, Bolano Lambunu District, Parigi Moutong Regency, there are 17 species of birds that are included in 11 families. there are 8 species of birds which are Sulawesi endemics found in the study site. To find out whether there are associations between the two types, a comparison between Chi-Square counts {X² count} with X² tables at the free degree = 1. Of the 17 species of birds found in the study location, 11 species are categorized as associations because they have x2 count values > 3.841 and there are 5 types of birds which are categorized as not associated because they have a value of x2 calculated <3.841.Keywords: Bird Association, Educational Forest, Bolano Lambunu

Abstract

Diospyros celebica Bakh is one of the strongest, one-class, beautiful types of wood, including high-value timber species and is a luxury wood species. The level of ebony regeneration in nature is relatively low, this is due to its semi-tolerant nature, which at the level of the ebony seedlings requires shade plants. Water is one physical component that is vital for plant growth and development. The role of water that is very important has the consequence that direct or indirect deficiencies or excess water in plants will affect all of its metabolic processes so that it can reduce plant growth. This research was conducted for 3 months, December 2015 until February 2016. The research location was located in the area of the Faculty of Forestry, Tadulako Palu University, Central Sulawesi Province. The experimental design used was the Factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD), which consisted of two factors, namely light intensity and watering intensity. The results showed that the treatment of light intensity had a significant effect on the growth of ebony plants the best average growth results were found at 30% light intensity (C2). The treatment of watering intensity significantly affected the growth of Diospyros celebica Bakh, the best growth rate was found in P2 (watering morning and evening). The interaction between light intensity and watering intensity has no significant effect, this is due to the state of light intensity, the soil moisture is still relatively the same, both during watering P1 and P2 so that the availability of water for photosynthesis is still available. Keywords: Diospyrros celebica Bakh, light intensity, watering

Abstract

The Unit X of Protection Forest Management Unit of Central Sulawesi Province with an area of 97,157.66 ha is one of the FMUs in Indonesia for the purpose of sustainable forest management. The FMU located in Poso District has a protected forest area of 68.17% and limited production forest of 31.83%. The objective of the study was to analyze spatial distribution and the number of natural rattan regeneration of the relationship with the habitat condition in protected forests of sub-mountain rain zones. Spatial analysis method used in the data of natural rattan inventory results in 2018 with the help of geographic information system technology. From the analysis result, it is known that the distribution of natural rattan regeneration of three types of rattan (tohiti, symbol and stem) is determined by land cover / vegetation factor, soil type, land system, geology, slope aspect with correlation value (r) 0.93 - 1 (strong positive correlation); other contributing factors are slope class and altitude with correlation value (r) 0.59 – 0.79 (medium positive correlation); while the precipitation is weakly correlated positively with the value (r) 0.16. Of the three types of rattan analyzed, rattan lambang have high adaptability compared to the other two types of rattan (rattan batang and rattan tohiti). Keywords: Natural rattan regeneration, sub-mountains rain zone, spatial analysis.
