Abstract

The Dedicated Short-Range Communication (DSRC) has been widely accepted as a promising wireless technology for enhancing traffic safety. In such DSRC-based vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) communication systems, because of the extremely time-varying characteristic of wireless propagation channels, accurate channel estimation is essential for reliable information exchange between vehicles. In this paper, the characteristics of the propagation channel and several traditional channel estimation schemes for V2V communications are reviewed. Then, a delay-based channel-frequency-response decomposition scheme is proposed to estimate and predict the double-selective V2V channel while adhering to the IEEE 802.11p standard. The proposed method achieves a more favorable performance than the traditional methods in V2V scenarios by combining the least square estimation in the frequency domain with the linear prediction in time domain. The performance advantages of the proposed scheme are verified by the simulation results from three typical scenarios. Furthermore, a reference design on a field-programmable gate array for the proposed channel estimation scheme is presented for the purpose of demonstrating its implementation feasibility and complexity.

Abstract

Directed against the characteristics of computational intensity of fractal image compression encoding, a serial-parallel transfer mechanism is built for encoding procedures. By utilizing the properties of single instruction and multithreading execution of compute unified device architecture (CUDA), the parallel computational model of fractal encoding is built on the graphic processor unit(GPU) in order to parallelize the considerably time-consuming serial execution process of searching for the block of best match. The experimental result indicates, the algorithm in this paper shortens the encoding time to the millisecond scale and significantly boosts the execution efficiency of fractal image encoding algorithm while keeping the decoded image in good quality.

Abstract

Research in the field of image classification has been widely applied and developed, especially in the field of satellite imagery. Image classification is the process of grouping the pixels in an image into a number of classes, so that each class can describe an entity with certain characteristics. The research aims to build software that can perform the classification of earth image results from UAV (Unmanned Aerial Vehicle) monitoring. The Image converted into YUV format then classified using Fuzzy Support Vector Machine (FSVM). This research designed elements that UAVs will be used for monitoring as follows: (1) the control station, which designed the software on a computer that is used to send or receive data, and display the data in graphical form, (2) payload, using the camera to capture images and send to the control station, (3) communication system using TCP/IP protocol, and (4) UAV, using X650 quadcopter products from xaircraft. All of data can be received if it is sent by several segmented package into smaller parts. The results of image classification, the image of the monitoring carried out on the UAV sized 256 x 256 pixels with a total number of 450 training data size. It is 16x16 pixel image data. Tests performed to classify the image into 3 classes, namely agricultural area, residential area, and water area. The highest accuracy value of 77.69% obtained by the number of training data as much as 375.

Abstract

This research discusses about vector control of single-phase Induction Motor (IM) with two main and auxiliary windings under stator winding open-phase fault based on Indirect Rotor Flux-Oriented Control (IRFOC). Unlike conventional controller which can only be used for single-phase IM with two windings, the proposed technique in this paper can also be used for single-phase IM under open-phase fault. The proposed fault-tolerant drive system in this paper is based on using transformation matrix. Simulations results confirm the validity of the theoretical analysis.

Abstract

Having done an analysis on the security vulnerabilities of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) through a desynchronization and an impersonation attacks, it is revealed that the secret information (i.e.: secret key and static identifier) shared between the tag and the reader is unnecessary. To overcome the vulnerability, this paper introduces Shelled Lightweight Random Value (SLRV) protocol; a mutual authentication protocol with high-security potentials conforming to  electronic product code (EPC) Class-1 Generation-2 Tags, based on lightweight and standard cryptography on the tag’s and reader’s side, respectively. SLRV prunes de-synchronization attacks where the updating of internal values is only executed on the tag’s side and is a condition to a successful mutual authentication. Results of security analysis of SLRV, and comparison with existing protocols, are presented.

Abstract

Selection of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is a complex decision-making process and one of the critical success factors (CSFs) in ERP adoption life cycle. Many ERP implementation failures are caused by improper package selection. Various approaches have been used, but not using optimization techniques. This study developed a Fuzzy-Multiobjective Genetic Algorithm (Fuzzy-MOGA) approach to optimize the quality of ERP selection criteria that complies with ISO25010 quality standard and cost. A case study was conducted on an agro-industrial company. The result shows the approach of Fuzzy-MOGA with NSGA-II method facilitate a complex decision-making for ERP selection optimally.

Abstract

In actual application and scientific research, multi-objective optimization is an extremely important research subject. In reality, many issues are related to the simultaneous optimization under multi-objective conditions. The research subject of multi-objective optimization is getting increasing attention. In order to better solve some nonlinear, restricted complex multi-objective optimization problems, based on the current studies of multi-objective optimization and evolutionary algorithm, this paper applies the ant colony algorithm to multi-objective optimization, and proves through experiments that multi-objective ant colony algorithm can converge the real Pareto front of the standard test function more quickly and accurately, and can also maintain the distributivity of the better solution.

Abstract

Experimental design and operation of a directional fiber coupler having identical-output ratio is successfully fabricated.  The coupling region is imposed by fusion temperature 800-1350 0C injecting the Hydrogen gas at 1Atm. Concurrently the coupled-mode theory is used to model power transfer between the waveguides by using transfer matrix method. By 1mW source input power to one of three input ports, it shows that power propagation among three coupled fibers is normalized; the optical fiber are nearly identical and a similar separation between them. The matrix configuration of  3X3 is also used to calculate the polarization effect of directional fiber coupler. It is found that the incident power polarized with various angle causes power output at both three output ports decrease exponentially. This 3X3 directional fiber coupler design is a significant passive component for various functions power splitter and routers.

Abstract

Free space optical system is a hot topic, which has gaining more and more attention. But,when the signal transmitted in the channel ,the performance could be severely degraded due to the atmosphere turbulent. The purpose of this paper is to find a most suitable modulation method for FSO system under FSO channel. The performance of power efficiencies, bandwidth efficiency,BER and SNR for the four modulation schemes have studied and compared in this paper include On-Off keying (OOK), Binary Phase Shift Keying(BPSK),Differential Phase Shift Keying(DPSK) and Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (QPSK) without atmospheric turbulence. Numerical   experiments show that BPSK and QPSK schemes are better compared to other schemes in BER performance and power requirements. When take intensity scintillation under Gamma-Gamma turbulence channel into consideration and the average BER is derived with Meijer-G function, BER performances of BPSK and QPSK scheme approximate the same .Compared with BPSK,BER performance for QPSK is 3dB lower .From the simulation results, modulation for BPSK is robust resist turbulence. As a result, BPSK scheme is suitable for free-space optical communication system.

Abstract

Solar energy is becoming popular and has drawn lots of attention from researchers nowadays. However, the output power of the photovoltaic (PV) arrays varies with solar irradiation and temperature, which affect the efficiency of PV arrays. Therefore, Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) control technique is used to extract the maximum available power from the PV arrays. Perturb and Observe (P&O) algorithm is one of the favorite techniques frequently used due to its simplicity and low cost. Yet, the conventional P&O algorithm has several drawbacks, which leads to power loss and lack of efficiency. This paper presents comparison of the basic P&O algorithm with the modified P&O algorithm used for partial shading condition in terms of complexity, accuracy, cost, and basic concept of each method.
