Abstract

One method overlooked to date, which can work alongside existing audio compression schemes, is that which takes account of the semantics and natural repetition of music through meta-data tagging. Similarity detection within polyphonic audio has presented problematic challenges within the field of Music Information Retrieval.  This paper presents a method (SoFI) for improving the quality of stored audio being broadcast over any wireless medium through meta-data which has a number of market applications all with market value. Our system works at the content level thus rendering it applicable in existing streaming services. Using the MPEG-7 Audio Spectrum Envelope (ASE) gives features for extraction and combined with k-means clustering enables self-similarity to be performed within polyphonic audio. SoFI uses string matching to identify similarity between large sections of clustered audio. Objective evaluations of SoFI give positive results which show that SoFI is shown to detect high levels of similarity on varying lengths of time within an audio file. In a scale between 0 and 1 with 0 the best, a clear correlation between similarly identified sections of 0.2491 shows successful identification.

Abstract

Currently, approximately 3.4 billion people are accessing the internet around the world and that number is still growing. This phenomena creates the Internet culture that has a great influence on science, technology and even the world economy. Internet bandwidth is very expensive, which makes an information technology based company have to map the internet accurately either daily, monthly or yearly. That data will be taken into consideration by the company to decide how to provide services that make an internet surfing is a pleasant experience. If not regulated, most likely the traffic and bandwidth will be used up even when it is only shared by a few users. To anticipate this, we need a bandwidth and management traffic system using Netscan and Networx in order to monitoring the usage of Internet.

Abstract

In this paper, multi-feature fusion using Scale Invariant Feature Transform (SIFT) and Local Extensive Binary Pattern (LEBP) was proposed to obtain a feature that could resist degradation problems such as scaling, rotation, translation and varying illumination conditions. SIFT feature had a capability to withstand degradation due to changes in the condition of the image scale, rotation and translation. Meanwhile, LEBP feature had resistance to gray level variations with richer and discriminatory local characteristics information. Therefore the fusion technique is used to collect important information from SIFT and LEBP feature. The resulting feature of multi-feature fusion using SIFT and LEBP feature would be processed by Learning Vector Quantization (LVQ) method to determine whether the testing image could be recognized or not. The accuracy value could achieve 97.50%, TPR at 0.9400 and FPR at 0.0128 in optimum condition.  That was a better result than only use SIFT or LEBP feature.

Abstract

The settlement monitoring of subway runs through the entire construction stage of subway. It is very important to predict the accurate settlement value for construction safety of subway. In this paper, the wavelet transform is used to denoise the settlement data. The auxiliary wavelet neural network, embedded wavelet neural network and single BP neural network are applied to predict the settlement of Tianjin subway. Compared with single BP neural network and auxiliary wavelet neural network, the embedded wavelet neural network model has a higher accuracy and better prediction effect. The embedded wavelet neural network is more valuable than the BP neural network model so it can be used in the prediction of subway settlement

Abstract

This paper is under in-depth investigation due to suspicion of possible plagiarism on a high similarity indexSteer-by-wire (SBW) system in electric vehicle replaces the mechanical connection between steering wheel and front wheels with cable in the traditional steering system, which overcomes the limitations of the traditional steering system for the drivers. It is a hot research topic in the field of new energy vehicles in the future. The proposed new structure of SBW in electric vehicle is introduced; its integrated control strategy consists of three modules. A coordinated control determines the body forces/moment required to achieve electric vehicle motion objectives. The body forces/moment are allocated to braking and steering subsystems based on phase plane notion. The coordination of these actuators is achieved through the controller of the feedback gains with respect to electric vehicle speed. The gain scheduled steering controller provides the desired yaw rate damping while keeping the yaw-lateral motion decoupled. The simulation test results show the effectiveness of the proposed architecture and steering control system when the SBW in electric vehicle is subject to critical driving situations. Our work provided a reference for further research of SBW system.

Abstract

Recently, sophisticated segmentation techniques, such as level set method, which using valid numerical calculation methods to process the evolution of the curve by solving linear or nonlinear elliptic equations to divide the image availably, has become being more popular and effective. In Local Binary Fitting (LBF) algorithm, a simple contour is initialized in an image and then the steepest-descent algorithm is employed to constrain it to minimize the fitting energy functional. Hence, the initial position of the contour is difficult or impossible to be well chosen for the final performance. To overcoming this drawback, this work treats the energy fitting problem as a meta-heuristic optimization algorithm and imports a varietal particle swarm optimization (PSO) method into the inner optimization process. The experimental results of segmentations on medical images show that the proposed method is not only effective to both simple and complex medical images with adequate stochastic effects, but also shows the accuracy and high efficiency.

Abstract

A high sensitivity very low frequency (VLF) receiver is developed based on AD744 monolithic operational amplifier (Op-Amp) for earthquake data acquisition. In research related natural phenomena such as atmospheric noise, lightning and earthquake, a VLF receiver particularly with high sensitivity is utterly required due to the low power of VLF wave signals received by the antenna. The developed receiver is intended to have high sensitivity reception for the signals in frequency range of 10-30 kHz allocated for earthquake observation. The VLF receiver which is portably designed is also equipped with an output port connectable to the soundcard of personal computer for further data acquisition. After obtaining the optimum design, the hardware realization is implemented on a printed circuit board (PCB) for experimental characterization. It shows that the sensitivity of realized VLF receiver is almost linear in the predefined frequency range for the input signals lower than -12dBm and to be quadratic for the higher level input signals.

Abstract

With the increasing number of online comments, it was hard for buyers to find useful information in a short time so it made sense to do research on automatic summarization which fundamental work was focused on product reviews mining. Previous studies mainly focused on explicit features extraction whereas often ignored implicit features which hadn't been stated clearly but containing necessary information for analyzing comments. So how to quickly and accurately mine features from web reviews had important significance for summarization technology. In this paper, explicit features and “feature-opinion” pairs in the explicit sentences were extracted by Conditional Random Field and implicit product features were recognized by a bipartite graph model based on random walk algorithm. Then incorporating features and corresponding opinions into a structured text and the abstract was generated based on the extraction results. The experiment results demonstrated the proposed methods outpreferred baselines.

Abstract

The biggest challenge in the underwater communication and target locating is to reduce the effect of underwater acoustic noise (UWAN). An experimental model is presented in this paper for the diurnal variability of UWAN of the acoustic underwater channel in tropical shallow water. Different segments of data are measured diurnally at various depths located in the Tanjung Balau, Johor, Malaysia. Most applications assume that the noise is white and Gaussian. However, the UWAN is not just thermal noise but a combination of turbulence, shipping and wind noises. Thus, it is appropriate to assume UWAN as colored rather than white noise. Site-specific noise, especially in shallow water often contains significant non-Gaussian components. The real-time noise segments are analyzed to determine the statistical properties such as power spectral density (PSD), autocorrelation function and probability density function (pdf). The results show the UWAN has a non-Gaussian pdf and is colored. Moreover, the difference in UWAN characteristics between day and night is studied and the noise power at night is found to be more than at the day time by around (3-8dB).
