Abstract

The information technology (IT) is a necessary in BAKOSURTANAL to support business in relation with data and spatial information. Users will get the advantage through easy and fast access to data and spatial information. The important of the enterprise architecture (EA) to play a role to support company is proven because it provides technology and process structure which are fundamental aspects in IT strategy. Enterprise architecture framework (EAF) will accelerate and simplify the development of EA by ascertaining comprehensive coverage of solutions, ensuring the result of EA is always in line with the growth of enterprise. This paper  explains the open group architecture framework (TOGAF) from several of EAF. The result shows that the most suitable EAF for BAKOSURTANAL in Blueprint development is by proposing EA model that covers business, information system, and technology architecture which are relied on recommended technical basics that is possible to be implemented

Abstract

One problem causing reduction of energy in satellite communications system is the misalignment of earth station antenna pointing to satellite. Error in pointing would affect the quality of information signal to energy bit in earth station. In this research, error in pointing angle occured only at receiver (Rx) antenna, while the transmitter (Tx) antennas precisely point to satellite. The research was conducted towards two satelites, namely TELKOM-1 and TELKOM-2. At first, measurement was made by directing Tx antenna precisely to satellite, resulting in an antenna pattern shown by spectrum analyzer. The output from spectrum analyzers is drawed with the right scale to describe swift of azimuth and elevation pointing angle towards satellite. Due to drifting from the precise pointing, it influenced the received link budget indicated by pattern antenna. This antenna pattern shows reduction of power level received as a result of pointing misalignment. As a conclusion, the increasing misalignment of pointing to satellite would affect in the reduction of received signal parameters link budget of downlink traffic.

Abstract

The emergence of new higher education institutions has created the competition in higher education market, and data warehouse can be used as an effective technology tools for increasing competitiveness in the higher education market. Data warehouse produce reliable reports for the institution’s high-level management in short time for faster and better decision making, not only on increasing the admission number of students, but also on the possibility to find extraordinary, unconventional funds for the institution. Efficiency comparison was based on length and amount of processed records, total processed byte, amount of processed tables, time to run query and produced record on OLTP database and data warehouse. Efficiency percentages was measured by the formula for percentage increasing and the average efficiency percentage of 461.801,04% shows that using data warehouse is more powerful and efficient rather than using OLTP database. Data warehouse was modeled based on hypercube which is created by limited high demand reports which usually used by high level management. In every table of fact and dimension fields will be inserted which represent the loading constructive merge where the ETL (Extraction, Transformation and Loading) process is run based on the old and new files.

Abstract

In this paper, recurrent neural network (RNN) is used to design power system stabilizer (PSS) due to its advantage on the dependence not only on present input but also on past condition. A RNN-PSS is able to capture the dynamic response of a system without any delays caused by external feedback, primarily bythe internal feedback loop in recurrent neuron. In this paper, RNNPSS consists of a RNN-identifier and a RNN-controller. The RNN-Identifier functions as the tracker of dynamics characteristics of the plant, while the RNN-controller is used to damp the system’s low frequency oscillations. Simulation results using MATLAB demonstrate that the RNNPSS can successfully damp out oscillation and improve the performance of the system.

Abstract

This paper presents an optimized digit-by-digit calculation method to solve complicated square root calculation in hardware, as a proposed simple algorithm for implementation in field programmable gate array (FPGA). The main principle of proposed method is two-bit shifting and subtracting-multiplexing operations, in order to achieve a simpler implementation and faster calculation. The proposed algorithm has conducted to implement FPGA based unsigned 32-bit and 64-bit binary square root successfully. The results have shown that proposed method is most efficient of hardware resource compare to other methods. In addition, the strategy can be expanded to larger number easily.

Abstract

Web mining in searching based on keywords by automatic clustering is a document searching method by classifying documents based on its keyword. Following is the clustering by centroid linkage hierarchical method (CLHM) to the number of keywords from each document. In clustering, initialization is commonly required for the number of cluster to be formed first, however, in some clustering cases, the user cannot determine how many clusters can be built. Therefore, on this paper, the Valley tracing method is applied as a constraint which identifies variants movement from each cluster formation step and also analyzes its pattern to form automatic clustering. Document data used are from text mining process on documents. Based on 424 documents, this research shows that clustering method using CLHM algorithm can be generally used to classifying documents with exact number automatically.

Abstract

Teaching learning process in laboratory is obligatory in engineering education especially for course in information technology (IT).  To make laboratory activities become more interesting for the students, lecturers must build application-based exercise for the student, but after students accomplished their short exercise, it is found that lecturers got difficulty to compile and grade all the exercises. This paper is based on the idea how to overcome the problem above, in order to make activities in the laboratory comfortable for both lectures and student. It is expected that the lectures will able to fully control all practical activity and save the time automatically. To make approach to solve the problem in IT, a modeling process must be conducted first. There for, firstly, this paper explain the model approach for the problem above, then the IT design for practices in laboratory is described. The IT design to overcome the problem has been effectively applied in the real teaching learning process.

Abstract

DC power sources from renewable energy sources that would be connected to the electricity grid system require synchronization process. This process is implemented by controlling the inverter in a way to obtain instantaneous amplitude, phase and frequency according to the electricity network. This research discussed a method for synchronizing VSI PWM inverters connected with distorted single-phase power grid using a filter as a pure sine generator, and a compensator as the restorer of angle change due to the power filtering. Results of simulation using MATLAB show that this method can produce better synchronization compared to other synchronization methods, as it successfully produce similar phase and waveform with the grid’s waveform.

Abstract

Rain is one of the attenuation factors in very high frequency radio wave. Attenuation caused by rainfall gives a big impact in communication systems, especially wireless communication systems at millimeter-wave. This paper seeks to apply the fuzzy auto-regressive model (fuzzy AR) for rainfall in Indonesia. In this study, firstly the rainfall is measured, followed by getting the fuzzy variables for each event of rainfall measurements. Thirdly, the fuzzy variables based on the timing of the rain to get a fuzzy time series is set, and fourth step is the fuzzy time series modeling as a fuzzy AR(2) process. The fifth is estimating the matrix of model parameter, and the last step is simulating the generation of rainfall using fuzzy AR(2) model. The results obtained from the generation of simulated rainfall with Fuzzy AR(2) shows a good agreement with the actual measurement results.
