Abstract

Digital images are suffering from the stair-step effect because they are built from small pixels. This effect termes aliasing and the method uses to decrease so-called anti-aliasing. This paper offers a hardware accelerator of an anti-aliasing algorithm using HLS (high level synthesis) along straight-line segments or edges. These straight-line segments are smoothed by modifying the intensity of the pixel. The hardware implementation of two different architectures which is based on Zynq FPGA are presented in this work. The first architecture is built from one core while the second architecture is built from multi-core and uses a parallel technique to speed up the algorithm by dividing line segments into sub-segments and drawing them after smoothing instantaneously to formulate the main line. This parallel usage leads to a very fast execution of Wu's algorithm which is represented one-tenth hardware runtime for one core only. Also, the optimized resource utilization and power consumption for different cores have been compared, through single-core design which utilizes 8% and consumes 1.6 W, while utilized resources using 10 cores are 77% with a power consumption of 2 W.

Abstract

In this paper, selective adaptive (SA) receiver for Multicarrier Direct Sequence Code Division Multiple Access (MC DS-CDMA) system is presented. This receiver has high performance and at the same time reduces the multiple access interference (MAI) of the MC DS-CDMA) system with low computational complexity. The performance of SA receiver is measured in terms of the bit error rate (BER). An upper bound expression of the BER for the SA receiver under Rayleigh fading channel condition is derived and validated by computer simulations. Moreover, the implementation complexities of the SA receiver is compared with the Adaptive Parallel Interference Cancellation (APIC) receiver.

Abstract

Edge is composed by a collection of its nearby pixels which has a step change or changes in roof, an image is an information system and most of its information comes from the edges. This paper gives a brief overview of the status and the importance of image edge detection and introduces the research status of the image edge detection. After that, it introduces the basic principle and the main steps of the genetic algorithm and ant colony algorithm. On the basis of these, the paper proposed a new hybrid algorithm for the image edge extraction and refining, which combined the genetic algorithm and ant colony algorithm. Through the analysis of the time-speed graph of the genetic algorithm and the ant colony algorithm, we can find the best fusion point between the genetic algorithm and the ant colony algorithm. The experiment indicated the proposed hybrid algorithm can make the full use of the image information, the simulation time is shorter, the image edge is more continuous, and preserved the outline of original image more completely.

Abstract

Objective of research is to analyze the influence of solar irradiance and integration of  photovoltaic (PV) generator to power quality of three phase grid on the constant temperature and load, based on changes in some level of integration of  PV generator. Power quality aspects studied are fluctuation or changing, and harmonics of voltage and current on eight scenarios PV generator connected to three-phase grid, using passive filter circuit model double band pass (double tuned). Research shows that voltage and current values on the PCC bus before use double tuned passive filter on the condition only connect single generator is still stable. However, if the PV generator connected to the three phase grid, amounted to more than one generation, voltage and current grid becomes unstable (fluctuation). At the level of solar radiation remains, the greater number of PV generators connected to the grid three-phase, then the values of voltage and current THD increases. At the level of solar irradiance increases, average THD of voltage and current grid also increased. Avarage THD of voltage and current grid is reduced after double tuned passive filter installed. Therefore, double tuned passive filter able to improve profile of voltage and current THD grid as a result of the integration of a number of PV power generators in three-phase grid according IEEE Standard 519-1992. Simulation and analysis of this research use Matlab/Simulink.

Abstract

Mobile Peer-to-Peer (MP2P) network is a promising avenue for large-scale deployment of Video-on-Demand (VoD) applications over mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). In P2P VoD systems, fast search for resources is key determinants for improving the Quality of Service (QoS) due to the low delay of seeking resources caused by streaming interactivity. In this paper, we propose a novel Clustering Tree-based Video Lookup strategy for supporting VCR-like operations in MANETs (CTVL) CTVL selects the chunks with the high popularity as "overlay router" chunks to build the "virtual connection" with other chunks in terms of the popularities and external connection of video chunks. CTVL designs a new clustering strategy to group nodes in P2P networks and a maintenance mechanism of cluster structure, which achieves the high system scalability and fast resource search performance. Thorough simulation results also show how CTVL achieves higher average lookup success rate, lower maintenance cost, lower average end-to-end delay and lower packet loss ratio (PLR) in comparison with other state of the art solutions.

Abstract

This study deals with a new research work on a low cost multiband printed antenna which can be used for three operating frequency bands GSM900/PCS/WIFI/Bluetooth. The achieved antenna is mounted on an FR-4 substrate. In this study, the solts technique is used to obtain the multiband behavior. The different solts are inserted in the radiator face and the back face that is the ground. The whole circuit is optimized taking into account the good matching of the input impedance in the operating frequency bands with a stable radiation pattern. In order to optimize the proposed antenna structure we have used CST-MW and to compare the obtained simulation results we have conducted another electromagnetic simulation by using HFSS solver. The final circuit validated into simulation has been fabricated and tested which permits to validate the proposed multiband antenna.

Abstract

The multistep approach involving combination of techniques is referred as motion estimation. The proposed approach is an adaptive control system to measure the motion from starting point to limit of search. The motion patterns are used to analyze and avoid stationary regions of image. The algorithm proposed is robust efficient and the calculations justify its advantages. The motivation of the work is to maximize the encoding speed and visual quality with the help of motion vector algorithm. In this work a hardware model is developed in which a frame of pictures are captured and sent via serial port to the system. MATLAB simulation tool is used to detect the motion among the picture frame. Once any motion is detected that signal is sent to the hardware which will give the appropriate sign accordingly. This system is developed on two platforms (hardware as well software) to estimate and measure the motion vectors.

Abstract

It is desirable that a power system operation is in a normal operating condition. However, the increase of load demand in a power system has forced the system to operate near to its stability limit whereby an increase in load poses a threat to the power system security. In solving this issue, optimal reactive power support via SVC allocation in a power system has been proposed. In this paper, Symbiotic Organisms Search (SOS) algorithm is implemented to solve for optimal allocation of SVC in the power system. IEEE 26 Bus Reliability Test System is used as the test system. Comparative studies are also conducted concerning Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Evolutionary Programming (EP) techniques based on several case studies. Based on the result, SOS has proven its superiority by producing higher quality solutions compared to PSO and EP. The results of this study can benefit the power system operators in planning for optimal power system operations.

Abstract

Recently, big data is granted to be the solution to opening the subsequent large fluctuations of increase in fertility. Along with the growth, it is facing some of the challenges. One of the significant problems is data security. While people use data mining methods to identify valuable information following massive database, people further hold the necessary to maintain any knowledge so while not to be worked out, like delicate common itemsets, practices, taxonomy tree and the like Association rule mining can make a possible warning approaching the secrecy of information. So, association rule hiding methods are applied to evade the hazard of delicate information misuse. Various kinds of investigation already prepared on association rule protecting. However, maximum of them concentrate on introducing methods with a limited view outcome for inactive databases (with only existing information), while presently the researchers facing the problem with continuous information. Moreover, in the era of big data, this is essential to optimize current systems to be suited concerning the big data. This paper proposes the framework is achieving the data anonymization by using fuzzy logic by supporting big data mining. The fuzzy logic grouping the sensitivity of the association rules with a suitable association level. Moreover, parallelization methods which are inserted in the present framework will support fast data mining process.
