Abstract

The need for effective design of satellite attitude control (SAC) subsystem for a microsatellite is imperative in order to guarantee both the quality and reliability of the data acquisition. A proportional-integral-derivative (PID) controller was proposed in this study because of its numerous advantages. The performance of PID controller can be greatly improved by adopting an integral time absolute error (ITAE) robust controller design approach. Since the system to be controlled is of the 4th order, it was approximated by its 2nd order version and then used for the controller design. Both the reduced and higher-order pre-filter transfer functions were designed and tested, in order to improve the system performance. As revealed by the results, three out of the four designed systems satisfy the design specifications; and the PD-controlled system without pre-filter transfer function was recommended out of the three systems due to its structural simplicity, which eventually enhances its digital implementation.

Abstract

Smart cities today can utilize vehicular delay tolerant networks (VDTN) to col-lect data from connected-objects in the environment for various delay-tolerant applications. They can take advantage of the available intelligent transportation systems (ITS) infrastructures to deliver data to the central server. The system can also exploit multiple and diverse mobility patterns found in cities, such as privately owned cars, taxis, public buses, and trams, along with their vehicle-to-everything (V2X) communications capabilities. In the envisioned convergence between the ITS and V2X, we believe that a simple and efficient routing protocol can be deployed for the delay-tolerant data delivery, contrary to the implemen-tation of optimized solutions that might be resource-demanding and difficult to standardize. In this paper, we analyzed the performances of four baseline VDTN routing protocols, namely: direct delivery, first contact, epidemic, and spray and wait, to understand their strengths and weaknesses. Our simulation results high-lighted the trade-off between distinct approaches used by those protocols and pointed out some gaps that can be refined. This study provides new interesting ideas and arguments towards developing a simple, efficient, and high-performing routing protocol for data collection in smart cities.

Abstract

Primary challenges are the identification, segmentation, and extraction of the afflicted area from the scanning of magnetic resonance. However, it is a time-consuming and tiresome for clinical specialists. In this paper, an automated brain tumor system is proposed. The proposed system employs hybrid image processing techniques such as contrast correction, histogram normalization, thresholding techniques, arithmetic, and morphological operations to quarantine nearby organs and other tissue from the brain for improving the localization of the affected region. At first, the skull stripping process is proposed to segregate the non-designated regions to extract the designated brain regions. Those resultant brain region images are further subjected to discover the brain tumor. The planned scheme is studied on the magnetic resonance (MR) images with the use of T1, T2, T1c, and fluid-attenuated inversion recovery (FLAIR). The proposed hybrid method employed. The results reveal that the proposed method is quite efficient to extract the tumor region. The accuracy rate for segmentation and separation of area of interest in brain tumor reached to 95%. Finally, the significance of the proposed procedure is confirmed using the real image clinical dataset got from ten patients were diagnosed as begin, malignant, and metastatic brain tumors in Al-Yarmouk and Baghdad teaching hospital in Baghdad, Iraq.

Abstract

The development of social media-based e-commerce, particularly, opens new opportunities for digital affiliate systems. This study examines public perception of affiliate performance through comment sentiment analysis (positive, negative, neutral) using support vector machine (SVM) and gradient boosting machine (GBM). Data was collected from TikTok Shop comments, processed through text preprocessing, manual labeling, and then analyzed using Python. Evaluation using accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score metrics showed that the combination of the synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) with SVM and GBM improved classification performance, although negative sentiment remained challenging. SVM achieved the highest accuracy (84%) with a ratio of 90:10, while GBM excelled in detecting neutral sentiment (F1 0.91). These findings are useful for sentiment-based marketing strategies and natural language processing (NLP) development for Indonesian-language texts on TikTok Shop.

Abstract

A multi-tenant database (MTDB) is the backbone for any cloud app that employs a software as a service (SaaS) delivery paradigm. Every cloud-based SaaS delivery strategy relies heavily on the architecture of multitenant databases. The hardware and performance costs for quicker query execution and space savings provided by the architecture of MTDBs are implementation costs. All tenants’ data may be kept in a single table with a common schema and database format, making it the most cost-effective MTDB configuration. The arrangement becomes congested if tenants have varying storage needs. In this research, we present a space-saving architecture that improves transactional query execution while avoiding the waste of space due to different attribute needs. Extensible markup language (XML) and JavaScript object notation (JSON) compare the proposed system against the state of the art. The suggested multitenant database architecture reduces unnecessary space and improves query performance. The experimental findings show that the suggested system outperforms the state-ofthe-art extension table method.

Abstract

The demand for higher data rates has increased in recent years. The reconfigurable antenna that operates in the millimeter-wave spectrum (23.5 GHz – 29.64 GHz) was developed. This design is obtained by merging a half-circle radius of 3.97 mm, and a half-ring inner radius of 4 mm. The shape is similar to the round bottom flask. Two PIN diodes are used in this design to achieve frequency reconfigurability to meet the wideband mobile communication need of the future 5G. The suggested antenna, built on Roger RT5880 substrates and properties of ε = 2.2 and δ = 0.0009, has been used as the antenna substrate. For all the resonant bands, the suggested antenna has a voltage standing waves ratio (VSWR) < 1.11. From 84 % to 92 %, the suggested structure radiation efficiency is calculated. A small antenna element has an excellent end-fire radiation pattern in the desired frequency bands. The antenna shows three reconfigurable bands, 25.17, 26.75, and 27.64 GHz, and gain (2.77-4.4) dBi. The suggested antenna is well suitable for future fifth-generation (5G) networks because of its notable features of small overall size (9.8×13×0.787) mm3, wide bandwidth, and frequency reconfigurability.

Abstract

Various researches have been conducted to discover the machinery that led to the evolvement of non-symmetric formation of groups by uncountable marine animals. The huge of tasks comes per unit of time brought obstacles to assign each to particular server, while task assignment have needed a fast strategy to make decision. Artificial fish affect the environment through their behavior and the behavior of their peers. Creating a synthetic fish model has two parts: variables and functions which could be used for task assignment. This paper present improved fish swarm algorithm (IFSA) for task assignment to reduce the latency in cloud computing that could achieve one green computing goals. The research trying to reduce the pending job numbers compared with exist research.

Abstract

This study examines hate speech detection in TikTok comments using natural language processing (NLP) techniques within the student community of UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya. A dataset of 10,000 comments associated with the hashtag #PBAKUINSA2023 was analyzed using a lexicon-based sentiment analysis approach implemented through the TextBlob library, combined with Indonesian text preprocessing techniques, including tokenization, normalization, stopword removal, and stemming using the Sastrawi library. The results indicate that the proposed approach achieved an accuracy of 0.85, with precision of 0.88, recall of 0.83, and an F1-score of 0.854. Most comments were classified as neutral, while 31.8% were positive, and only a small proportion were negative. These findings suggest that discussions related to campus activities tend to be neutral or supportive. However, the findings also reveal that sentiment polarity does not always directly correspond to hate speech, as certain harmful expressions may appear neutral in lexicon-based analysis. This limitation highlights the need for more context-aware approaches. Overall, the proposed method provides an efficient solution for monitoring online discourse in academic environments.

Abstract

Floods damage ecosystem of the affected area resulting in destruction, loss of asset and life. The paper proposes a novel k-FVI, (k stands for Kerala and FVI for flood vulnerability index) to aid the decision makers reduce flood vulnerability of 14 districts of Kerala. Instead of usual classification of flood vulnerability indicators under exposure (?), sensitivity (?), and adaptive capacity (?ℂ), k-FVI proposes that, indicators reflecting ? and preparedness (ℙ)govern pre-flood vulnerability, whereas those of ? and rehabilitation (ℝ) affects post-flood vulnerability. The division of ?ℂ indicator into ℙ and ℝ indicators and clubbing them into pre-flood and post-flood vulnerability respectively results into reduced errors. The importance of high dimensional flood indicators is realized by measuring the entropy of affected areas. Use of technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution (TOPSIS) and entropy-based weights to score flood affected area results in formulating robust k-FVI. The paper also compares k-FVI with existing FVIs in literature. It uses data of 2018 Kerala floods and assesses the flood vulnerability of its 14 districts. The results prove that k-FVI is an effective flood vulnerability score estimator. Variant of k-FVI can be used to obtain vulnerability for any other flood prone areas.

Abstract

This paper scrutinizes visible light communication (VLC) employing hybrid optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) wavelength division multiplexing (WDM). It also demonstrates the simulation of VLC using the direct sequence optical code division multiple access (DS-OCDMA) system developed by OptiSystem-Matlab Co-simulation. The profits of WDM and OTDM capacities have been combined using two levels of freedom to build up of the system. The performances are demonstrated in the simulated findings of the bit error rate (BER) in relationship with the data rate and the number of users. First, the simulated results display the usefulness of the system. Then, the number of users has been significantly enhanced. Besides, the OCDMA functions by appointing a specific code to each user and could provide asynchronous and simultaneous access to numerous users. One drawback is multiple access interference (MAI). The use of very long code sequences is crucial in order to lessen this effect. Hence, very large bandwidths are essential. This study aims at demonstrating, through system simulation, the practicability of an all-optical conventional correlation receiver dedicated to a DS-OCDMA access network link. Again, OptiSystem has been used to realize our blocks.
