Abstract

The internet of things (IoT) in 5G and beyond wireless systems is interesting topic since IoT network will be platform to develop applications in the future. IoT will open a door for smart services and new wireless architecture. In this study, we consider multiple access technique applied in two-way cooperative scheme, namely two-way non-orthogonal multiple access (TW-NOMA). We derive expressions of outage probability for considered system using amplify-and-forward (AF) relay protocol, and we show that fixed power allocation factors and target rates are main impacts on performance of AF TW-NOMA. We finally extend many scenarios to evaluate performance of two-user model and outage probability in a two-user scenario are numerically verified. It is confirmed that simulation results show that AF TW-NOMA provides better data rates and user fairness.

Abstract

Lightning activity correlates with the formation of thunderclouds which increase the atmospheric electric field (AEF) between the cloud and the earth. Observations of the development of the AEF will allow the prediction of lightning activities close to a particular location. In research and development, the data logger plays an important role to observe and collect data from AEF sensors. The data logger must be reliable and effective. High investment costs are involved in acquiring a data logger, and choosing a suitable data logger is not easy. Institut Voltan dan Arus Tinggi (IVAT) is develeloping AEF sensor. Along with that sensor development a data logger development is also required. In this paper, a mobile data logger is developed by using Arduino-Uno. This mobile data logger is equipped with a GPS module, which provides accurate positioning in the collection of data. Laboratory and field tests were carried out to observe the performance of the mobile data logger system. The results showed that the developed data logger works properly.

Abstract

Achieving accurate and efficient metamorphic malware detection remains a challenge. Metamorphic malware is able to mutate and alter its code structure in each infection, with some vital functionality and codesegment remain unchanged. We exploit these unchanged features for detecting metamorphic malware detection using Support Vector Machine(SVM) classifier. n-gram features are extracted directly from sample malware binaries to avoid disassembly, which are then masked with the extracted Snort signature n-grams. These masked features reduce considerably the number of selected n-gram features. Our method is capable to accurately detect metamorphic malware with ~99 % accuracy and low false positive rate. The proposed method is also superior than commercially available anti-viruses in detecting metamorphicmalware.

Abstract

A feature extraction for musical instrument tones that based on a transform domain approach was proposed in this paper. The aim of the proposed feature extraction was to get the lower feature extraction coefficients. In general, the proposed feature extraction was carried out as follow. Firstly, the input signal was transformed using FFT (Fast Fourier Transform). Secondly, the left half of the transformed signal was divided into a number of segments. Finally, the averaging results of that segments, was the feature extraction of the input signal. Based on the test results, the proposed feature extraction was highly efficient for the tones, which have many significant local peaks in the Fourier transform domain, because it only required at least four feature extraction coefficients, in order to represent every tone.

Abstract

This paper presents the design and the development of an indoor lighting control based on fuzzy logic controller (FLC). The objective of this study is to demonstrate how the FLC can optimize the lighting based on indoor and outdoor lighting environments. The FLC system uses two inputs with Light Dependent Resistors (LDR) as a sensor at indoor and outdoor lighting environments. The output is Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) to provide lighting at the room automatically. The Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) is used to adjust the LEDs lighting in the room. FLC has successfully demonstrated performance to control the output of LEDs as needed. If the LDR 1 input as indoor sensor shows dim, it will automatically turn on brightly. The MSE values for simulation and experiment of LDR 1 and LDR 2 were 34.42 and 30.11 respectively. The results of FLC performance in the simulation work are further validated by an experimental work. Experimental results show similarities compared to the simulation results.

Abstract

In this study, aimed to develop low-cost sensor based on fiber optic to assess ammonia index for fishpond application. Here, the simple design was proposed by using Evanescent wave type to assess ammonia index during acid rain event. The experiment result showed maximum absorption loss with variation ammonia mass 1~5% with wavelength 1310 nm from Optical Light Source (OLS) is 27.56 dBm while Optical Spectrum Analyzer (OSA) reached 25.86 dBm. We had calculated RMSE, MAE, and Percent Error (PE) value both of the device (Low-cost fiber optic chemical sensor and OSA) are 1.692%, 0.916%, and 98.833% respectively. A good result from low cost fiber optic chemical sensor has successful developed with lowest production less than 1,455 USD per-year.

Abstract

This paper proposes an improved user-centric Non-Orthogonal Multiple Access (NOMA) communication in two-base station networks with in-band full duplex (IBFD) user. We derive the achievable rates of the proposed user-centric NOMA systems. For benchmarking purposes, we also derive the achievable rate for the user-centric system deploying conventional NOMA schemes, Orthogonal Multiple Access (OMA) schemes and point-point communication systems. We then analyze and simulate the performance of the proposed and all the benchmarked systems. We found that our proposed user-centric NOMA approach has a 64% improvement in the total achievable rate when compared to the benchmarked approach under similar power constraint.

Abstract

Cognitive radio networks enable a more efficient use of the radioelectric spectrum through dynamic access. Decentralized cognitive radio networks have gained popularity due to their advantages over centralized networks. The purpose of this article is to propose the collaboration between secondary users for cognitive Wi-Fi networks, in the form of two multi-criteria decision-making algorithms known as TOPSIS and VIKOR and assess their performance in terms of the number of failed handoffs. The comparative analysis is established under four different scenarios, according to the service class and the traffic level, within the Wi-Fi frequency band. The results show the performance evaluation obtained through simulations and experimental measurements, where the VIKOR algorithm has a better performance in terms of failed handoffs under different scenarios and collaboration levels.

Abstract

As technology scaling increases computer memory’s bit-cell density and reduces the voltage of semiconductors, the number of soft errors due to radiation induced single event upsets (SEU) and multi-bit upsets (MBU) also increases. To address this, error-correcting codes (ECC) can be used to detect and correct soft errors, while x-modular-redundancy improves fault tolerance. This paper presents a technique that provides high error-correction performance, high speed, and low complexity. The proposed technique ensures that only correct values get passed to the system output or are processed in spite of the presence of up to three-bit errors. The Hamming code is modified in order to provide a high probability of MBU detection. In addition, the paper describes the new technique and associated analysis scheme for its implementation. The new technique has been simulated, evaluated, and compared to error correction codes with similar decoding complexity to better understand the overheads required, the gained capabilities to protect data against three-bit errors, and to reduce the misdetection probability and false-detection probability of four-bit errors.

Abstract

Quality standard for coffee as an agriculture commodity in Indonesia uses defect system which is regulated in Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) for coffee bean, No: 01-2907-1999. In the Defect System standard, coffee bean is classified into six grades, from grade I to grade VI depending on the number of defect found in the coffee bean. Accuracy of this method heavily depends on the experience and the expertise of the human operators. The objective of the research is to develop a system to determine the coffee bean grading based on SNI No: 01-2907-1999. A visual sensor, a webcam connected to a computer, was used for image acquisition of coffee bean image samples, which were placed under uniform illumination of 414.5+2.9 lux. The computer performs feature extraction from parameters of coffee bean image samples in the term of texture (energy, entropy, contrast, homogeneity) and color (R mean, G mean, and B mean) and determines the grade of coffee bean based on the image parameters by implementing neural network algorithm. The accuracy of system testing for the coffee beans of grade I, II, III, IVA, IVB, V, and VI have the value of 100, 80, 60, 40, 100, 40, and 100%, respectively.
