Abstract

In the last decades, researchers have widely discussed the effects of magnetized water on many biological and industrial aspects; many studies have also examined the effects of magnetization on water physical and chemical properties and shown a slight increase in the water pH level for the drinking water after magnetizations. This article presents a new practical model to magnetize the tap drinking water with permanent, and adjustable magnets to ensure fast and precise results. A new smart system is designed and implemented to calculate the required magnetic flux density, and the exposuretime based on the difference in the measured pH level of the water atthe inletand outlet pipes.Three permanent magnets, with magnetic flux densities of 500, 1000, and 1500 Gauss (G), are installed at different pipe routes, with added to a variable magnet on the main water outlet. The results show a promising prototype that is not only processing the water efficiently but also supply much data about the water properties, which can be led to more findingsin this field.

Abstract

The large size and the dynamic nature of the Web make it necessary to continually maintain Web based information retrieval systems. In order to get more objects by visiting few irrelevant web pages, the web crawler usually takes the heuristic searching strategy that ranks urls by their importance and preferentially visits the more important web pages. While some systems rely on crawlers that exhaustively crawl the Web, others incorporate “focus” within their crawlers to harvest application or topic-specific collections. In this paper, using the Hidden Markov Model(HMM) learning ability to solve the problem of the theme of the crawler drift, has obtained the certain effect.

Abstract

It is essential to detect partial discharge (PD) as a symptom of insulation breakdown in high voltage (HV) applications. However accuracy of such measurement is often degraded due to the existence of noise in the signal. Wavelet Transform (WT) seems to be more suitable than traditional Fourier Transform in analyzing signals with interesting transient information such as partial discharge (PD) signals. In this paper a WT method with soft thresholding is used for signal denoising. PD signals and corona obtained from actual measurements with different voltage magnitudes are processed. Processed signals show the better result.

Abstract

The recent development in digital technology offers better platform for easy implementation of advance control algorithm in power converter design making digital control a viable alternative to analogue counterpart. Controller design for power converters has been very challenging due to non-linear characteristics of power switches, the supply voltage variability, load current changes and circuit element variation. This paper presents dynamic averaged state-space modelling of non-ideal dc-dc boost converter with parasitic and digital controller design for boost converter using digital redesign and direct digital design methods. The system was simulated in Matlab/Simulink to investigate the dynamic performance of the two controllers’ transient response, control bandwidth and response to variable supply voltage. The results demonstrated fast transient and wide control bandwidth for tight voltage regulation of variable input voltage.

Abstract

The cascaded H-bridge multilevel converter topology has been increasingly utilized for reactive power compensation purposes for the medium voltage distribution systems. The static synchronous compensators (STATCOMs) or static var generators (SVGs), are difficult to be tested in the field due to the unpredicted network operation conditons. This paper presents an effective method to test the STATCOM/SVG controllers based on the real-time digital simulator (RTDS), which has the benefit of easy implementation, low cost, online parameter tuning and high efficiency. The experimental results of STATCOM/SVG under steady state and dynamic conditions are presented to verify the proposed approach, which can be widely applied in other grid-interfaced power electronic converters and smart grid applications.

Abstract

This paper proposes the important issues in signal segmentation. The signal is disturbed by multiplicative noise where the number of segments is unknown. A Bayesian approach is proposed to estimate the parameter. The parameter includes the number of segments, the location of the segment, and the amplitude. The posterior distribution for the parameter does not have a simple equation so that the Bayes estimator is not easily determined. Reversible Jump Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) method is adopted to overcome the problem. The Reversible Jump MCMC method creates a Markov chain whose distribution is close to the posterior distribution. The performance of the algorithm is shown by simulation data. The result of this simulation shows that the algorithm works well. As an application, the algorithm is used to segment a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) signal. The advantage of this method is that the number of segments, the position of the segment change, and the amplitude are estimated simultaneously.

Abstract

Stability of a state linear system can be identified by controllability, observability, stabilizability, detectability, and transfer function. The approximate controllability and observability of non-autonomous Riesz-spectral systems have been established as well as non-autonomous Sturm-Liouville systems. As a continuation of the establishments, this paper concern on the analysis of the transfer function, stabilizability, and detectability of the non-autonomous Riesz-spectral systems. A strongly continuous quasi semigroup approach is implemented. The results show that the transfer function, stabilizability, and detectability can be established comprehensively in the non-autonomous Riesz-spectral systems. In particular, sufficient and necessary conditions for the stabilizability and detectability can be constructed. These results are parallel with infinite dimensional of autonomous systems.

Abstract

We developed old designed of a Back-Propagation neural network (BPNN), which it was designed by other researchers, and we made modification in their structure. The 1st velocity ratio was discriminated by lowest speed, and highest twist. The 6th velocity ratio was discriminated by highest speed, and lowest twist. The aim of this paper is to design neural structure get best performance to control an electrical automotive transportation six-speed gearbox of the vehicle. We focus on the evaluation of the BPNN to select the suitable number of layers and neurons. Experimentally, the structure of the proposed BPNN are constructed from four layers: eight input nodes in the first layer that received data in binary number, 45 neurons in 1st hidden-layer, 25 neurons in 2nd hidden-layer, and 6 neurons in the fourth layer. The MSE and number of Epochs are the main factors used for the evaluation of the proposed structure, and compared with the other structures which was designed by other researchers. Experimentally, we discovered that the best value of Epoch and MSE was chosen when the BPNN consisted of two hidden-layers, 45, and 25 neurons in the 1st and 2nd hidden-layer respectively. The implementation was applied using MATLAB software.
