Abstract

Abstract

A broadband microstrip bandpass filter (BPF) with compact size, sharp skirt and wide upper-stopband performance is proposed using the triple-mode stub-loaded resonator. The resonator can generate one odd mode and two even modes in the desired passband. Due to the main path signal counteraction, two transmission zeros Tz1, Tz2 can be created near the passband edge to achieve sharp skirt. Two transmission zeros Tz4, Tz5 are created between two harmonic frequencies hm2, hm3 by the folded open stub and the interdigital coupling feeding lines, respectively. Owing to the source-load coupling, one zero Tz3 is introduced to deepen the stopband. Meanwhile, the zero Tz1 is shifted to the lower cut-off frequency and the other three ones Tz2, Tz4, Tz5 can be slightly turned to suppress three harmonic frequencies hm1, hm2, hm3. One filter prototype with the fractional bandwidth 34% is designed, fabricated and measured.

Abstract

To facilitate the integration of learning resources categorized under different ontology representations, the techniques of ontology mapping can be applied. Through many algorithms and systems have been proposed for ontology mapping, they do not have an automatic weighting strategy on class features to automate the ontology mapping process. A novel method of computing the feature weights is proposed by feature semantic analysis, defining characteristics of the different entities similarity calculation model and weight calculation model. The results show that it makes the ontology mapping process more automatic while retaining satisfying accuracy. Improve ontology mapping effectiveness.

Abstract

Directed against the characteristics of computational intensity of fractal image compression encoding, a serial-parallel transfer mechanism is built for encoding procedures. By utilizing the properties of single instruction and multithreading execution of compute unified device architecture (CUDA), the parallel computational model of fractal encoding is built on the graphic processor unit(GPU) in order to parallelize the considerably time-consuming serial execution process of searching for the block of best match. The experimental result indicates, the algorithm in this paper shortens the encoding time to the millisecond scale and significantly boosts the execution efficiency of fractal image encoding algorithm while keeping the decoded image in good quality.

Abstract

On the basis of the known principle of interactions prediction (Mesarovic), our earlier proposed incremental coordination principle is extended over hierarchical collectives of intelligent dynamic systems (IDSs) after Gennady Osipov. Such systems admit arbitrary types of variables in their state vector and thereby allow investigating more general dynamic systems than “classical” ones defined in numerical state spaces. Using the concept of effective N-attainability (Osipov), a straightforward procedure of planning for hierarchical collectives of IDS is developed. As soon as a plan for reaching a goal state from the current one is found, effective implementation of this plan requires for coordination of IDSs taking their parts in the collective. We consider both aspects of coordination (coordinability with respect to the coordinator’s task and coordinability in relation to the global task) and infer necessary conditions of the coordinability for a locally organized hierarchy of IDSs.

Abstract

It is recommended by several researches that RLSA antennas have possibility as an option for Wi-Fi devices antennas. Therefore, to dig deeper this possibility, we designed a RLSA antenna that mimics the specification of an antenna usually found in market, that is 16 dBi outdoor patch antenna. We carried out a parameterization to get a best RLSA antenna model. The model was then fabricated and measured. The measurement results are quite agrees with the simulation results. We found that with the same size of 0.05 m2, our RLSA antennas has better performance in term of gain (2 dB higher), S11 (7 dB lower), and beamwidth (900 wider) compared to the patch antenna. A significant result is that RLSA antenna has much wider bandwidth (815 MHz wider) compared to the patch antenna. A test to our RLSA antenna as an antenna for Wi-Fi devices shows that it works properly.

Abstract

High-resolution imagery taken from Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) is now often used as an alternative in monitoring the agronomic plants compared to satellite imagery. This paper presents a method to identify Citronella among other plants based on UAV imagery. The method utilizes Support Vector Machine (SVM) to classify Citronella among other plants according to the extraction of texture feature. The implementation of the method was evaluated using two group of datasets: 1) consists of Citronella, Kaffir Lime, other green plants, vacant soil, and buildings, and 2) consists of Citronella and paddy rice plants. The evaluation results show that the proposed method can identify Citronella on the first group of datasets with an accuracy 94.23% and Kappa value 88.48%, whereas on the second group of datasets with an accuracy 100% and Kappa value 100%.

Abstract

Sampling frequency of musical instruments tone recognition generally follows the Shannon sampling theorem. This paper explores the influence of sampling frequency that does not follow the Shannon sampling theorem, in the tone recognition system using segment averaging for feature extraction and template matching for classification. The musical instruments we used were bellyra, flute, and pianica, where each of them represented a musical instrument that had one, a few, and many significant local peaks in the Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) domain. Based on our experiments, until the sampling frequency is as low as 312 Hz, recognition rate performance of bellyra and flute tones were influenced a little since it reduced in the range of 5%. However, recognition rate performance of pianica tones was not influenced by that sampling frequency. Therefore, if that kind of reduced recognition rate could be accepted, the sampling frequency as low as 312 Hz could be used for tone recognition of musical instruments.

Abstract

Internet of things (IoT) technology has found more applications that require complex computation while still preserving power. Embedded processors as the core of the IoT system approaches the need for computation by employing a parallel processor system, namely MPSoC. While various MPSoCs hardware is widely available, there is limited software support form of user-friendly libraries and development platform. There is a need for such a platform to facilitate both the study and development of parallel embedded software. arduino as the widely used embedded development platform is yet to officially support multicore programming. This work proposes an arduino-based development environment that supports multicore programming while maintaining arduino’s simple program structure, targeted at specific low-power MPSoC, the RUMPS401. The environment is fully functional, and while it targets only specific MPSoC, the proposed environment can easily be adopted to other MPSoCs with similar structures with minimal modification.
