DESIGN OF THERMAL EQUIPMENT MILLING FOR FABRICATING THE TIO2 PHOTOCATALYSTS COATED GRAIN POLYMERS

Abstract

Organic waste water treatment can be conducted with technique of photocatalytic. Photocatalytic activity involves factors light intensity and amount of catalyst. In order this process can take place optimally, the catalyst material coating on the surface of the material buffer such as polymer shaped grains can be an alternative method. Setting the temperature and the duration of heating automatically is very efficient in controlling the physical characteristics of the photocatalyst materials. In this experiment, modification done on of the two types of thermal equipment milling namely cylindrical equipment milling equipped with heater and equipment milling based electric oven. The testing process of the thermal equipment milling performed with controlled temperature in the range of 110 ° C and setting the timer to 60 minutes. In testing the thermal characteristics of milling equipment, it takes as long as 220 minutes for each immobilization process using cylindrical milling and 65 minutes when using an electric oven. Setting the temperature and time in the electric oven milling  can be performed automatically, which can not be performed using cylindrical milling. Milling equipment based electric oven has also been used in the selection of buffer polymer materials and fabricate TiO2 photocatalysts which tested on photodegradation of organic compound of methylene blue (MB).Penjernihan air limbah organik dapat dilakukan dengan teknik fotokatalisis. Agar aktivitas fotokatalitik yang melibatkan faktor intensitas cahaya dan jumlah katalis dapat berlangsung secara optimal, pelapisan material katalis pada permukaan material penyangga berupa bulir polimer termoplastik dapat menjadi salah satu alternatif. Pengaturan temperatur dan lamanya pemanasan secara otomatis sangat efisien dalam mengendalikan karakteristik fisis material fotokatalis Dalam penelitian ini dilakukan modifikasi terhadap dua jenis peralatan thermal millng, yaitu peralatan milling cylinder yang dilengkapi dengan komponen pemanas dan peralatan miling berbasis oven listrik. Proses pengujian milling dilakukan dengan temperatur terkontrol pada kisaran 110 °C dan pengaturan timer 60 menit. Dalam pengujiankarakteristik termal kedua alat tersebut, dibutuhkan waktu selama 220 menit untuk setiap proses imobilisasi menggunakan milling cylinder dan 65 menit bila menggunakan peralatan berbasis oven listrik. Pengaturan temperatur dan waktu pada alat berbasis oven listrik dapat dilakukan secara otomatis, yang tidak dapat dilakukan menggunak milling cylinder. Peralatan milling berbasis oven listrik ini juga telah digunakan dalam pemilihan polimer penyangga material fotokatalis TiO2 serta pabrikasi fotokatalis TiO2 yang diujikan dalam fotodegradasi senyawa organik metilen biru (MB).
STUDY ON PHYSICAL-CHEMICAL PROPERTIES OF FURNACE-NICKEL-SLAG POWDER FOR GEOPOLYMER APPLICATION

Abstract

This research aims to prepare powder of nickel slag from furnace machine, identify, and analyze of the elements or compounds containing in the sample. The data retrieval was done with the analysis of elemental composition, phase microstructures, crystal size, distribution, and composition mapping of the samples by using XRD, Rigaku Miniflex II, and SEM-EDS, Tescan Vega-3. XRD result indicates that the formation which the similar to amorphous phase was identified and the formation at peak 2? = 28.01° is identified as the low quartz (SiO2). FWHM 0.18° was obtained using microcal origin 6.0 and average crystal size 53.37 nm was obtained by applying Scherer equation. SEM results show average grain size of samples which is less than 1?m and maximum to 4?m. Based on EDS result, the main constituent elements are Si 32.86 wt%, Mg 19.40 wt%, and Fe 32.03 wt%, respectively.Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menyiapkan bubuk slag nikel yang berasal dari furnace, yang dilanjutkan dengan mengidentifikasi dan menganalisis unsur atau paduan yang terkandung di dalamnya. Data diperoleh dengan melakukan analisis terhadap komposisi unsur, fasa mikrostruktur, ukuran Kristal, distribusi dan komposisi paduan dari sampel bubuk slag nikel furnace dengan menggunakan XRD tipe Rigaku Miniflex II dan SEM-EDS tipe Tescan Vega-3. Hasil analisis XRD menunjukkan bahwa formasi yang dihasilkan menyerupai fase amorf dan formasi yang terbentuk pada puncak 2? = 28.01° diidentifikasi sebagai low quartz (SiO2). Dengan menggunakan microcal origin 6.0 diperoleh FWHM 0.18 ° dan menggunakan persamaan Scherer diperoleh rata-rata ukuran kristal 53.37 nm. Hasil pengukuan SEM menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata ukuran butir dari sampel bubuk slag nikel furnace bervariasi antara minimal 1?m dan maksimum 4 ?m. Berdasarkan pengukuran EDS diperoleh secara berturut-turut bahwa unsur utama penyusun paduan slag nikel furnace adalah Si 32.86 wt%, Mg 19.40 wt%, dan Fe 32.03 wt%.

Abstract

Scientific literacy is the key learning  outcomes for all students. Based on observation, scientific literacy of student is less facilitated in science  learning.  Learning of levels of inquiry is one of  solution alternative to increase science literacy. So that, that aim of this study to improve scientific literacy for junior high school students through implementing levels of inquiry in science learning with the theme of global warming. This study used a weak experimental with one group pretest-posttest design. The sample in this study are 35 student at 7th  grade at junior high school in Second semester in academic year 2014/2015. The data of this study is taken by scientific literacy test. The results showed that explain phenomena scientifically competence and interpret data and evidence scientifically competence has increased significantly. Meanwhile, evaluate and design scientific enquiry competence is not significantly increased. In addition, the domain knowledge indicates that the three aspects of the knowledge which consist of content knowledge, procedural knowledge, and epistemic knowledge has increased significantly. Literasi sains merupakan hasil belajar kunci bagi semua siswa. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, literasi sains siswa kurang difasilitasi dalam proses pembelajaran IPA di kelas. Pembelajaran levels of inquiry merupakan salah satu alternatif solusi untuk meningkatkan literasi sains. Oleh karena itu, tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk meningkatkan literasi sains siswa SMP melalui penerapan levels of inquiry pada pembelajaran IPA tema pemanasan global. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen lemah dengan desain penelitian one group pretest-posttest. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 35 siswa kelas VII SMP pada semester genap tahun pelajaran 2014/2015. Data penelitian diperoleh melalui tes literasi sains. Temuan dalam penelitian ini adalah kompetensi menjelaskan fenomena ilmiah dan kompetensi menginterpretasikan data dan bukti ilmiah meningkat secara signifikan. Sedangkan, kompetensi mengevaluasi dan merancang penyelidikan ilmiah tidak meningkat secara signifikan. Selain itu, pada domain pengetahuan menunjukkan bahwa ketiga aspek pengetahuan yaitu pengetahuan konten, pengetahuan prosedural, dan pengetahuan epistemik meningkat secara signifikan. 
Impact of Magnetic Field Strengthening on Combustion Performance of Low-Octane Fuel in Two-Stroke Engine

Abstract

The impacts of strengthening magnetic field exposure on combustion performance of low-octane fuel have been examined experimentally. The combustion test was carried out using a 2-stroke 49 cc engine where the fuel was magnetized using a low magnetic field (2 kG). Moreover, the molecular behavior of magnetized fuel was also characterized through spectrum tests using NIR and UV-Vis spectrophotometers. The result of this study indicates an exponential decrease of magnetized fuel consumption against the strengthening of magnetic field exposure. This exponential decrease of consumption can be related to the Arrhenius principle. In addition, the decrease of oxygen in the exhaust gas along with the strengthening of the magnetic field also confirms the increase of combustion reactions. Meanwhile, the increase of magnetized fuel absorption against ultraviolet and near-infrared lights along with the increase of the magnetic field intensity indicates a bond weakening, accompanied by the increase of molecular vibrational energy.
Pembuatan Media Pembelajaran Pengukuran Viskositas dengan Menggunakan Viskometer Dua Kumparan dan Freewave3

Abstract

Saat ini banyak cara dilakukan untuk meningkatkan kualitas pembelajaran dengan memanfaatkan media pembelajaran yang dirancang sendiri oleh guru. Pada penelitian dirancang media pembelajaran yaitu mengukur viskositas oli menggunakan metode viskositas bola jatuh dengan memanfaatkan dua kumparan sebagai sensor pendeteksi. Dimana dua kumparan dihubungkan dengan osiloskop dan hasilnya diolah menggunakan software freewave3. Dengan memberikan sinyal sinusoidal pada kumparan dan menjatuhkan bola kedalam tabung yang berisi fluida, akan didapatkan informasi perubahan tegangan saat bola tepat melewati kumparan. Dari data yang terekam pada software freewave3 dapat dihitung besar kecepatan terminal bola. Kecepatan terminal bola ditentukan dengan menghitung gradien dari grafik jarak terhadap waktu. Sehingga didapatkan nilai viskositas oli sebesar μ=0.85 Ns/m2. Lembar kerja siswa diuji cobakan pada beberapa mahasiswa dan didapatkan 87,5% mahasiswa menganggap bahwa pengukuran viskositas dengan menggunakan viskometer dua kumparan adalah hal baru bagi mereka, mudah diikuti, mempermudah dalam memahami dan menghitung viskositas fluida, dan memotivasi mereka dalam belajar fisika. Nowadays, there are many ways done to improve quality of learning by taking benefits from learning media designed by teacher. In this research, a viscosity measurement learning media was designed by applying two coils as transducer. Two coils were connected to osciloscop and the result was managed by freeware3 software. By giving sinusiodal signal to the coils dan droping ball into the tube containing oilt, an information of voltage change at the time of the ball passes the coil will be gathered. From the recorded data, the ball terminal velocity can be found by calculating the slope of distance-time graph, with the result of μ=0.85 Ns/m2. Student worksheets were distributed to several students and it was found that 87,5 % of the students considered that the measurement was a new thing for them , easy to follow , make them easier to understand and calculate the viscosity of the fluid , and motivate them to learn physics.

Abstract

This study aims to produce teaching materials based on inquiry physics to improve the critical thinking skills of high school students. This type of research is Research and Development and refers to the 4-D development model. This study was tested in class X. The results of this study obtained some findings include: 1) the validation of teaching materials obtained categories are very valid and reliable; 2) test legibility of physics teaching materials categorized high readability; and 3) N-gain improves students' critical thinking skills. Based on the results of this research, it can be concluded that the guided inquiry-based physics teaching materials worthy of use in learning and can improve the critical thinking skills of high school students.

Abstract

Dalam usaha mendapatkan hasil belajar siswa yang baik maka tenaga pendidikan harus mempunyai strategi dalam melakukan pembelajaran. Salah satu model pembelajaran yang dapat digunakan yaitu Advance Organizer. Dalam hal menunjang penggunaan suatu model, maka diperlukannya penggunaan media pembelajaran tertentu, salah satu media yang dapat digunakan yaitu media animasi komputer. Sampel penelitian diambil berdasarkan Sampling Jenuh. Desain penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah desain kelompok Two group posttest only. Hasil analisis daya serap dalam kategori baik, ketuntasan belajar secara klasikal sudah tuntas dan efektivitas pembelajaran adalah efektif. Ini berarti bahwa penggunaan model Advance Organizer berbantu animasi komputer adalah efektif digunakan dalam melihat hasil belajar fisika siswa SMA Rambah Hilir baik ditinjau melalui daya serap, ketuntasan belajar dan efektivitas pembelajarannya.In an effort to get the good results of student learning the teacher must have strategies for learning. One model of learning that can be used is Advance Organizer. In terms of supporting the use of a single model, there is a need for the use of specific instructional media. The media that can be used is computer animation media. The design used in this research was the group design of two group posttest only. The results of the analysis of absorption was in good, classical learning completeness has been completed and the effectiveness of learning was effective. This means that the use of model Advance Organizer assested computer animation is effective in view student learning outcomes of physics at SMA Rambah Hilir well reviewed through absorption, mastery learning and learning effectiveness.

Abstract

Many problems that arise in today's society are rooted in the issue of morality as a result of the marginalization of the values of character. To solve this problem, need to be enforced the values of good character on every member of the community, and the proper way is through the educational process, including through education in schools ranging from elementary education to higher education. To find out whether the teachers in elementary schools are ready to take this work, the research conducted to determine the readiness of teachers and the problems associated with its implementation. Through a questionnaire calculated in descriptive percentage on a sample of elementary school teachers who are spread in Semarang, Semarang District and Temanggung, it can be concluded that in teachers’ view it is very important to integrate the learning of characters in the lesson. However, they need guidance /examples to develop learning model with its features, which integrate the values of the characters in the science subject.Banyak persoalan yang timbul di masyarakat dewasa ini berakar pada persoalan moralitas sebagai akibat terpinggirkannya nilai-nilai karakter, Untuk mengatasi persoalan ini, perlu ditegakkan lagi nilai nilai karakter yang baik pada setiap anggota masyarakat, dan cara yang tepat adalah melalui proses pendidikan, di antaranya melalui pendidikan di sekolah mulai dari pendidikan dasar sampai pendidikan tinggi. Untuk mengetahui apakah para guru pada Sekolah Dasar siap mengemban tugas ini, maka diadakan penelitian untuk mengetahui kesiapan para guru dan masalah-masalah yang terkait dengan pelaksanaannya. Melalui angket yang kemudian diolah secara deskriptive persentasi pada sampel guru SD yang tersebar di Kota Semarang, Kabupaten Semarang dan Kabupaten Temanggung, dapat diketahui bahwa para guru menganggap sangat penting untuk mengintegrasikan pembelajaran karakter dalam matapelajaran IPA. Namun demikian mereka membutuhkan bimbingan/ contoh untuk mengembangkan model pembelajaran dengan fitur-fiturnya, yang mengintergrasikan nilai-nilai karakter dalam mata pelajaran IPA.

Abstract

This research aims to produce the teaching materials based on the inquiry learning model with valid, effective, and practical crossword puzzle of a physics lesson, especially in the optical appliance material of junior high school. The type of this research is developmental research using a 4 D model. The 4-D model consists of 4 stages of defining, designing, developing, and distributing. This research uses the development model. The methodology used is quantitative descriptive. Likert scale is used in this research as the validity analysis. Furthermore, the practical analysis is achieved from observation instrumental of lesson plan implementation, which written in the observation sheet, and student and teacher response questionnaire.  The result of the research showed that the validity analysis of teaching material is valid. Moreover, the result of lesson plan implementation, teacher response questionnaire, student response questionnaire, categorized to very practical. The findings of this research showed that inquiry learning with a crossword puzzle in optical appliance material was very valid, practical, and useful.

Abstract

Telah dilakukan pembelajaran fisika melalui penerapan model pembelajaran Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) pada pokok bahasan konsep energi dalam. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa dan efektivitas model pembelajaran Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) terhadap pemahaman siswa pada konsep energi dalam. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian eksperimen kependidikan (educational experiment research), dengan rancangan pre test-post test control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah dua kelompok belajar yang terdiri atas 32 siswa (eksperimen) dan 32 siswa (kontrol) kelas XI IPA di SMA N 2 Ungaran tahun ajaran 2013/2014. Data dianalisis menggunakan uji gain dan uji t. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan pemahaman konsep siswa dan hasil belajar kognitif siswa. Berdasarkan hasil analisis dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan model pembelajaran Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) dalam pembelajaran fisika SMA efektif untuk meningkatkan pemahaman konsep siswa.ABSTRACTThe physics learning on concept of the internal energy was carried out through application of Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) learning model. This study aimed to determining the improvement of students’ concept understanding and the effectiveness of Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) learning model on students’ understanding of the internal energy concept. The research used educational experiment research with pre test-post test control group design. The subject of research consisted of 32 students in eksperimental group and 32 students in control group of XI IPA SMA N 2 Ungaran, academic year 2013/2014. The data were analyzed by using gain test and t test. The result showed that there was an increase of students’ concept understanding and the outcome of students’ cognitive learning. Based on the result, it can be concluded that the application of Auditory Intellectually Repetition (AIR) learning model in teaching physics in high school was an effective way to enhance students’ concept understanding.
