Abstract

ABSTRACTSurgical site infection is one of surgical infection that frequently happened in hospital sothat the use of antibiotic prophylaxis must be safe. The research was conducted to know incidenceof adverse event at usage of antibiotic prophylaxis in surgery installation. We use concordancesheet of antibiotic prophylaxis either from accuracy aspect of the drug type, administration time,duration of usage. Result analysis in the form of calculation relative risk of usage of antibioticdissected pre prophylaxis to risk the happening of surgical site infections cases. Result thisresearch show that relative risk value of usage of antibiotic to case of infection of operation hurtevaluated from inaccurate of type antibiotic 1,12 ( CI 95 %: 0,138-9,1), inaccurate aspect of gift time5,8 ( CI 95 % : 1,024 - 32,86) and from inaccurate aspect of duration of gift 3,21 ( CI 95 % : 1,043 -9,9).Keywords: antibiotic prophylaxis, surgical site infections, relatives risk

Abstract

ABSTRACTAllopurinol is a pyrimidine derivative that effective to normalize levels of uric acid in bloodand urine. Allopurinol is very slightly soluble in water, but it has high permeability (BCS class II) sothat the dissolution is an important determine to express the drug bioavailability. Additional materialdifferences and the production process of each plant can cause differences in the quality of theresulting allopurinol tablets. This study aimed to compare the quality of branded generic andgeneric products allopurinol tablets in the quality of disintegration and dissolution. This study used 5kinds branded generic (A, B, C, D, E) and 5 kinds of generic products (F, G, H, I, J). Disintegrationtest carried out according to USP-NF 32ndedition by the medium of water at 37 ± 2°C. Dissolutiontests conducted according to USP-NF 32ndedition using apparatus 2 (paddle methode), the speedof rotation 75 rpm, in 0.01 N HCl medium at 37 ± 0.5°C. The data obtained compared with therequirements listed in the Indonesia Pharmacopoeia 4thedition and USP-NF 32ndedition, and thenstatistically analyzed by T test at 95% confidence interval. Results of disintegration and dissolutiontests met the requirements in the literature. Statistical test results showed that products haddifferent disintegration and dissolution profile.Keywords: allopurinol, disintegration, dissolution, tablets

Abstract

ABSTRACTSolid dispersions of the antiinflamation drug ibuprofen and polyethylene glycol 6000 (PEG6000) were prepared by the melting method in order to increase the dissolution rates of this poorlywater-soluble compound. The temperature/composition phase diagram of binary system wasanalyzed by termal analysis hot-stage microscopy, showing an eutectic formation. Polarized lighthot stage microscopy and X-ray-powder diffraction confirmed, that solid dispersion techniquedecrease the crystalliny of ibuprofen after melting and solidifying of a 4/6 (w/w) mixture of ibuprofenand polyethylene glycol 6000 respectively, which the results enhanced dissolution rates comparedto the physical mixtures and ibuprofen intact. However, no such chemical interactions in the solidstate were confirmed by FTIR spectra which showed the presence of ibuprofen crystalline in soliddispersion.Keywords: solid dispersions, ibuprofen, polyethylene glycol 6000

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe utilization of natural colorant in cosmetic dosage form, especially the colorant of carrot(Daucus carota Linn) in the preparation of lipstick colorant have been carried out. It can be knownfrom the research that the extract colorant of carrot had an orange color and stable during storagetimes. Lipstick formulation with various concentration of the root colorant (20, 30, and 40%),produced lipstick that had good physical stability during storage times, and it had orange up toreddish orange, safe to be used, and the formula especially with the carrot colorant of 30% wasmore favorable.Keywords: cosmetics, lipstick, natural colorant, -carotenoid, carrot

Abstract

ABSTRACTCelery (Apium graveolens L.) is one of plants that initially only used for cooking. Based onthe research by Wolski, et al., 2002, celery contains chemical compound such as tannins andpolyphenols. Tannins may be useful as an anti-diarrheal because of the adstringent effect. Thisstudy aims to determine the antidiarrheals activity of celery leaf in male mice strain Balb-C that wasinduced by castor oil. The ethanolic extract of celery leaves divided into three dose group (5,10 and20 mg/kgBW). This research was done by two methods, protection of castor oil induced diarrheaand intestinal transit. After five hours treatment, frequency of defecation, number of soft/liquidfeses and weight of stools were calculated. The gastrointestinal transit rate was expressed as thepercentage of longest distance traversed by the charcoal divided by the total length of the smallintestine.From the protection of castor oil induced diarrhea method, ethanol extract of celery 20mg/20gBW doses decrease frequency of defecation, quantity of the soft / liquid stool and weight ofstool after 5 hours treatment in male mice that had been induced by castor oil. The effectiveness ofethanol extract 20mg/20gBW dose equivalent to loperamid 0.06mg/20gBW (one way anova test atthe α = 95%). Besides, the ethanol extract of celery can prolong intestinal transit of mice, but lowerthan loperamid 0.06mg/20g (one-way anova test at the α = 95%).Keywords: antidiarrheal, castor oil, celery, intestinal transit, taninns

Abstract

ABSTRACTKemangi (Ocimum basilicum L.) is Lamiaceae family, consists of volatile oil, saponin,flavonoid, tanin, and polifenole. One of its functions is as an antioxidant. The antioxidantmechanism is blocking free radical oxidative bound with LDL (Low Density Lipoprotein) (Udupa,2006). This study explores kemangi as a lotion formulation on its primary iritation effect using malerabbits. Kemangi leaves are extracted with soxhletation method and formulated on lotion. Primaryirritation test is conducted by using patch test on 12 male rabbits. Rabbits are divided into 2 groups,with incision and without incision. Each of it got same treatments normal control aquadest, lotionbase control, and 4 tapering dose of kemangi leaves extract. Each treatment is done 6 times ondifferent rabbits, with incision and without incision group. The treatment is applied on rabbits backafter 3 stage shaving. For incision group, after 3 stages shaving the skin is scratched with minorincision on cell surface. Toxic symptom is observed during 24 hours and 72 hours after lotionapplication. The study result is analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. Qualitative analysisshowed that any erythema found as reddish spot on the rabbits back skin, but no edema found.Primary irritation index as quantitative analysis showed 0,083 for normal control aquadest; 0,207 forlotion base control; 0,292 for 0,25g/inci2kemangi leaves extract; 0,416 for 0,5g/inci2kemangileaves extract; 0,582 for 1 g/inci2kemangi leaves extract; 0,642 for 2 g/inci2kemangi leaves extract.It means kemangi leaves extract have no primary irritation effect.Keywords: Kemangi, patch test, anti oxidant
