Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between transformational leadership and organizational citizenship behavior. The study involved 30 teachers (12 persons comingfrom SMA Muhammadiyah Kalasan and the remaining 18 arefrom high school UH Yogyakarta). Data was collected using organizational citizenship behavior scale and transformational leadership scale. Data analysis used the Pearson product moment. The result showed that there was no correlation between transformational leadership and organizational citizenship behavior among teacher (r = -0.274, p> 0.05).Keywords: Organizational Citizenship Behavior, Transformational Leadership

Abstract

The purpose ofthis study was to determine the relationship between Islamic Work Ethics and Affective Commitment. This research was conducted at a state university in Yogyakarta, and involved 103 subjects. The subjects were the employees who work at the university with following the characteristics aged 34-60years and have a service life of 2-10 years. The data was collected using a questionnaire, Islamic Work Ethic scale based on the theory of Ali J. Abbas and Affective Commitment scale based on the theory of Allen and Meyer. The data was analyzed using pearson product moment. The results indicate that there is a positive relationship between Islamic Work Ethics Affective commitment to the value of rxy = 0.459, p < 0.05 . These result indicate that this hypothesis can be accepted, is there is positive between Islamic Work Ethics and Affective Commitment, which means the higher the Islamic Work Ethics that employees have, the higher the Affective Commitment owned by an employee. Keywords: Islamic Work Ethic, Affective Commitment

Abstract

This aim of this research was to understand the difference of sumpek between women and men who live in high density area in Yogyakarta, The women ability that is more adaptive on several aspects made the reasearcherformmulateda hypothesis "There is a difference on sumpek between women and men who live in high density place in Yogyakarta, men, tend to feel sumpek or crowded compared to women ". Samples of this research were taken from the highest densely populated area in Yogyakarta, with stratified sampling tecniques. The reasearcher got ¡10 samples which were 52 women and 58 men from kecamatan Pakualaman andDanUrejan. The result showed t (52,58) = -1,198 with p> 0,05. The result showed that there was no significant difference between two groups that were compared, so the hypothesis that was stated, that was a difference on sumpek between women and men who live in high density place in Yogyakarta is rejected.Key words: sumpek, men and women, high density area

Abstract

The aim of this research was to empirically examine the correlation between employee's perception about their leader's assertiveness and their work engagement level. The level ofperception about assertiveness of leaders on employees is directly proportional to the work engagement level. Subjects in this study were 70 employees of PTX. The measurement tool used is Work Engagement Scale which adapted from aspect of Schaufeli andBakker's theory. Whereas, perception on leader's assertiveness scale was based on the theory by Eisler, Miller & Hersen, Johnson & Pinkton. Statistic method by SPSS ¡5.00 for windows was applied to analyze data. The product moment correlation from Pearson showed that correlation coefficient r= 0.768, p= 0.000, p<0.01. The test result showed a significant positive correlation between employee's perception about assertiveness of their leader and work engagement level on them. Then, the proposed hypothesis is accepted. Keywords: work engagement, employee's perception about assertiveness oftheir leader.

Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to describe the dynamic of marital conflict and conflict resolution in early stage ofmarriage. There are four participants (two couples) who are in theirfirst year of marriage. The results showed that marital conflict in early stage of marriage developed in several areas : relation with family of origin, financial management, work, daily habits, love and sexual expression, social and recreational activity, and relation with friends. Conflict resolution type that effective in solving problems in all areas is collaboration type. Factors that causing marital conflict are personality characteristic, difference in value and way of life, discrepancy between expectancy and reality, and inadequate communication skills. Effect of marital conflict is related to the conflict resolution type. Conflict resolution type with solution that satisfied both parties will improve the quality ofmarriage, and vice versa. Keywords : marital conflict, conflict resolution, early stage of marriage

Abstract

The purpose ofthis study was to examine the correlation between hardiness personality and work period to work stress. The hypotheses is that hardiness and work period have negative impact to work stress. The participants in this study are 90 journalists at Central Java. Quota stratified sampling methods was used in the study. Data were collected with work stress and hardiness scale. Regression analysis technique used to test the major hypotheses and minor hypotheses tested with partial correlation analysis. The result showed that there are significant correlation between hardiness and work period to workstress with R = 0.265 and F - 3.272, p = 0.043 (p <0.05). Hardiness has a negative correlation to work stress with ryw = -0,262, p = 0.013 (p <0.05). However, the correlation between work period and work stress was not significant with ry^, = 0.092, p = 0.839 (p> 0.05) as showed by its comparison test with oneway anova with F = 0.629 andp = 0.535(p = <0.05). Keywords:hardiness, workperiod, workstress.

Abstract

To stop smoking is difficult. This qualitative research describes psychological dynamics of five smokers of Muhammadiyah members in responding thefatwa ofthe Majelis Tarjih and Tajdid Muhammadiyah that smoking is haram. The data were collected using in-depth interviews and using projective test, Sentence Completion Test (SCT). The projective test was conducted to 25 respondents. The results describe how difficult to change habit from smoking to not-smoking. Smoking fatwa has been received on the plains of cognitive and affective but not yet at the level of behavior. For example, smokers began to think to quit smoking andfeel uncomfortable againstfellow members of the Muhammadiyah. Keywords: psychological dynamics, stop smoking

Abstract

This study aims to determine the relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress on senior high school students who join the acceleration program The hypothesis was that there is a relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress on senior high school students who join the acceleration program. Subjects in this study were 89 senior high school students who join the accelerated program in Yogyakarta. This study uses two scales, namely: (a) the scale of academic stress and (b) self-efficacy scale. Results showed that there is a negative relationship between self-efficacy and academic stress on senior high school students who following an acceleration program. High self-efficacy correlated with low academic stress. Analysis of the coefficient of determination (r2) indicates the contribution of self efficacy of59% against the academic stress students.Keywods: Academic Stress. Self Efficacy, Acceleration Program

Abstract

This study attempted to find out how changed hardiness on entreprenuer 's difabel. This study used a case study. Design subjects or informants in this study were three entrepreneur's difabel which is had their personal entrepreneurminimalfor 2 years. The results obtained in this study was everyone basically already had hardy personality and past experiences made them more hardy. Burden of physical andphychic were another threat on difabel.
