Abstract

Extraction of compounds in a variety of materials, especially materials crops today are often found as a source of natural medicine. Soxhlet is one tool that is used as a medium of extraction of these compounds. Temperature and pressure as well as the long extraction affects the quality of compound extraction obtained. Control of temperature, pressure and time ekstraski kabanyakan still use manual so that there is an error caused by the user or device measuring. In this paper will be discussed extractor soxhlet integrated with the control system temperature, pressure and restrictions on timing extraction using a microcontroller ATMega 16 so that the extraction process can be run automatically. Control system temperature and pressure using a thermocouple type K which has a limit of measurement 0 - 12000C and pressure sensors MPX5700 which has a limit of measurement of the pressure of 0-700 Kpa. All output of this sensor will be read by the ADC microcontroller ATMega 16 is already integrated with internal ADC with a resolution of 10 Bit. Abstract

An improved watershed algorithm based on distance-metric criteria to separate overlapping cells proposed in this study. In this study, we present a novel watershed-based method for separation of overlapping cervical cell in Pap smear images. The results will be compared with other method namely distance transform, and color morphology gradient. The result of proposed method shows not only produces accurate separating cells cluster, but also keeps the shape of cells in good form.

Abstract

Load demand of electric power supply varies from hour to hour in a day . It is inefficient to operate all power plants along day under various load variation. A power plant scheduling system is needed to minimize total operation cost of the power plants and in order to meet the amount of power needed by the load. This research proposes a method on power plant scheduling based on genetic algorithm. Total operation cost is used as objective function and the amount of power needed by the load is applied as a constraint. Population of chromosome in genetic algorithm represent candidates of alternative schedule of power plant operation. The best chromosome is the schedule with minimum cost and which meets the constraint. This method was applied to schedule the power plant system of Sumatera Bagian Tengah. Optimization was done in every 30 minutes. Based on test and analysis, this method results in more efficient cost, compared to manual operation of power plant systems.

Abstract

The exhaust gases from automobile engines and industrial boilers contain mainly oxides of carbon (CO and CO2), oxides of nitrogen (NOx), hydrocarbons (HC), sulphur dioxide (SO2), particulates and soot. One of the most urgent problems is removal of NOx, typically produced during high-temperature combustion and contribute to formation of smog and ground-level ozone by reacting with hydrocarbons in presence of sunlight. Preparation, and modification of CuO / natural zeolite as well as their characterizations had been carried out. The aim of this research is to prepare the best characters catalyst for selective catalytic reduction of NOx. The CuO / natural zeolite was prepared by mechanically mixing of 100 g of natural zeolite, which it has been heated at 400oC, with CuNO3.3H2O powder, The weight ratio of the mixture was 2.5 and 5% (w/w). The mixture was then calcined at 400oC for 6 hours. The calcined product was characterized using X-Ray Diffractometry, X-Ray Fluorescence analysis and Gas Sorption Analysis methods to determine its physicochemical properties changes caused by mixing and calcination. The characterization results showed that dispertion of CuNO3.3H2O on zeolite resulted in the increasing of copper concentration on CuO / natural zeolite. The concentration of Cu on natural zeolite was found to be 0.15% (w/w), meanwhile on CuO / natural zeolite was 2.29% (w/w). From X-Ray Diffractometry analysis result no information was found that CuO was dipersed on natural zeolite. It was caused by overlapping of the reflections of zeolite with reflections of CuO. On the otherhand, the gas sorption analysis result exhibited that the dispersion of CuO on zeolite resulted in the decreasing of total pore volume as well as specific surface area of the natural zeolite. The specific surface areas of natural zeolite and CuO / natural zeolite were 228,1 and 172,1 m2/g, respectively, meanwhile the total pore volumes of natural zeolite and CuO / natural zeolite were 0.2316 and 0.2108 m3/g

Abstract

C2C (consume r-to -consumer) e-commerce is currently growing fast in Indonesia. A C2C ecommerce website provides a marketplace in which buyers and sellers meet and make commercial transactions. Such a transaction requires high trust from both parties, since marketplaces typically have no or less sufficient mechanisms to assure that a transaction is safe. This paper analyses whether several factors that build trust has influence on one's willingness to participate in a transaction in a C2C e-commerce website. Factors that are considered are structural assurance, familiarity, perceived similarity, perceived reputation and perceived risk. Data are collected using a Likert-scaled questionanaire from 109 respondents i.e. The users of FJB (Forum Jual Beli, trading forum) Kaskus. Data are analysed using the SEM (Structural Equation Model) method. The results show that (i) perceived reputation has positive and significant influence on trust; and (ii) trust has positive and significant influence on participation

Abstract

Servqual Dimension in gap measuring is used over recovering program in controlling service as the alternatives for the service quality improving towards customer satisfaction, as one of the company strategy to empower Total Quality Service. Measuring the service quality using servqual is the other way to discover customer satisfaction over service quality employs in PT. Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk Sudirman Branch. Hence, it could be further measured the gap between customer perception with their expectation by placing it in service dimension: Reliability, Response, Assurance, Empathy. Questionnaire test using Likert scale is employed to obtain physical evidence of measurement. Furthermore, 75 questionnaires of 80 are collected. Later, data is processed using Fuzzy-Servqual Method. Information for average gap of each dimension finally concluded as follow: Response (-0,158), Emphaty (0,05), physical evidence (0,176), Reliability (0,291) and Assurance (0,514). It shown that, overall the service quality at PT. Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk Sudirman Branch considered as good. It can be said that its service quality is accommodate every customer necessities

Abstract

Packaging has a very big role in the success of product. Not only as product’s protector or as container, packaging plays critical and essential function of building brand and adding emotional value. Packaging can also represent a significant portion of a product’s selling price. Packaging cost for luxury goods such as perfume and cosmetics is accounted approximately for 30% and even maybe as high as 40% of a product’s selling price. This paper discusses a comprehensive overview of making a make-up kit package design starting from market analyses to concept generation and prototyping. It is aimed at designing a fashionable, convenience, and environment friendly make-up kit package for active women. Three cosmetic products i.e. facial powder, lipstick and facial blotter are selected to be combined in the kit since they are the most important products needed by active women in a busy time. The shape of tray has been improved to reduce the waste of powder in the edge corner of the tray. Since the kit is made from leather, it is highly possible that it can reduce the occurrence of breaking compact powder when the case accidently felt down. The product is also environment friendly since it is refillable. With these entire new features, it is quite confident to say that this product seems to be better compared to the existing products in term of convenience, compact and fashionable.
