Abstract

Bamboo is a new favourite material in the world of eco buildings in Indonesia. Design innovation of buildings will impact the high demand for bamboo that must be balanced with the rate of production in preserved bamboo supply. Existing problems in small and medium enterprises will be overcome by applying technopreneursip. Among them is by developing the tools that will help in improving the production. The application of technology must be balanced with education to small medium enterprises owner and the labor. Preservation by the boucherie-morisco method can increase production by the same amount of labor and time by 2.8 times than Vertical Soak Diffusion Method. Technologically supported enterprises will further strengthen the bargaining position in the bamboo supply business. The partnership pattern between academia and small and medium business sector will create synergy in developing technopreneurship in Indonesian grassroots.

Abstract

Wireless communication technology or generally called as Wireless Technology (Teknologi Nirkabel) is considered as efficient technology in terms of cost and the usage. The home lighting controller by wireless with bluetooth technology module HC-05 using radio frequency 2,4 GHz is a system that are designed to ease the operator or user in controlling home lighting remotely by using bluetooth technology with Arduino microcontroller as its controller system programming as well as using smartphone as the remote control. The design of this prototype covers several stages : 1. Requirement Identification, 2. Requirement Analysis, 3. Tools’ design (Proteus Simulation), 4. Tools’ development (Hardware), 5. Controller Programming (Arduino Software), 6. Prototype, 7. Testing. From the result of the method, it can be resumed that the Home Lighting Controller via Wireless Bluetooth 2,4 GHz based on Arduino could simplify operator or user in turning the lights (ON – OFF) wirelessly. Besides it also can be exposed as an introduction and learning media for basic knowledge on Electrical Engineering in terms of Telecommunication at the Basic Electrical Engineering Laboratory, Faculty of Industrial Technology, Universitas Islam Indonesia, Yogyakarta.

Abstract

Double Metal Arc Welding Gas Electrodes (DE-GMAW) is a new welding process that separates the melting current into a base metal current and a controlled current by adding a TIG torch to a conventional GMAW system to form an alternative path that will flow through the current. This makes it possible to reduce the current passing through the base metal, so that the heat input in the base metal can be controlled at the desired level. Research has been done to know the parameters for the welding process run stable between welding wire and torch TIG as current cutter. Parameters that affect the stability of the control system are Bypass Electrodes, Tungsten Distance to Welding Electrodes, Tungsten Distance to Workpieces, Torch GMAW Tube Distance to Workpieces, Angles between Tungsten and Welding Wires. To control the base metal current at the desired level, a group of power resistors is added in the control system. In this study, the welding is done using 18 V voltage by using several variations of the number of resistors. From the research shows that the control system developed can adjust the current cut in a large range to maintain the base metal current at the desired level. The welding results using the DE-GMAW control system show the physical properties of the weld result better when compared with welding without using current control system.

Abstract

The development of information technology simplify human life. Its evoke crime loopholes, cyber crime. When solving criminal cases that utilize information technology is required the digital forensic science. In carrying out a digital investigation known multiple frameworks around the worlds. Every devices, every organization has their own framework. The most common framework divided into 4 sections. Preservation, Acquisition, Analysis, and Reporting are the most common used around the worlds. Acquisition is a key part of the investigation process because in this process digital evidence is collected form the electronic evidence. The acquisition processes uses special equipment. Forensic acquisition equipment mostly made by forensic vendors in the world. The problems that arise in the academic realm is the price of the equipment is quite expensive. The existence of the above problem there is a gap to conduct research on the applied field of development of tools for forensic acquisition. This study provides an early overview of the design of a digital forensics acquisition tool called Nenggala Disk Duplicator.

Abstract

Visual impairment is a condition that causes one cannot access visual information clearly. Most of people with visual impairment access visual information through the sense of hearing and touch. One of activity which accessing visual information is indispensable is learning activities. Learning activities can affect one’s ability to understand and master what they learn. Moreover, in order to make learning activities more interesting, fun learning activities need to be created, such as learning while playing. The activities of learning while playing can be implemented by developing game based learning. This study was conducted to develop a game based learning that can help people with visual impairment to do learning activities for arithmetic subject. The interactivity in the game is a combination of touch and swipe interaction tehniques. From the user acceptance testing, result shows that the game is ease to use and to learn, and has a simple and intuitive interface. The next improvement for this game can be adding other interaction techniques such as hold, double click, multitouch, et cetera.

Abstract

Indonesia is one of the largest turpentine producing countries in the world. Turpentine is one type of essential oil whose main component is alpha pinene. Alpha pinene is a bicyclic terpene that can undergo various reactions. This research aims to study the reaction process of turpentine acetoxylation using sulfuric acid catalyst. The reaction is carried out using glacial acetic acid and acetic acid solution. The experiments were run in a batch reactor for 2 hours at a constant temperature. Samples are taken to be analyzed using gas chromatography (GC). From the analysis it was found that the products included esters, isomers, and monocyclic alcohols. The use of acetic acid solution will significantly increase the monocyclic alcohol yield. The ratio of alpha pinene and acetic acid affects the conversion and product selectivity. While the purity of alpha pinen has no effect on the conversion achieved, but affects the selectivity of the resulting product.

Abstract

Electrical needs in industry as well as in households is one of the main needs as a source of energy for electrical devices. Currently the development of new and renewable energy sources and research involving many found in the world, one of which is a microhydro power plant. Indonesia is a country that has a stream that can be used as a source of energy, especially as a small scale power generator or often called microhydro. In this study the authors try to make a prototype microhydro power plant by utilizing used washer motor driver as a generator. The prototype is equipped with a complement load of inductors to maintain the stability of the voltage and frequency of the generator output when there is loading. The prototype also features a voltage indicator panel, frequency, flow of water to the generator using arduino as its signal processing module. From the observation result obtained maximum output from generator is 90 Volt with frequency 123Hz with speed generator 308 RPM and water debit 127 mL / sec. The addition of complement load on the generator greatly affects the output of the generator during loading.

Abstract

The large number of ports in Indonesia generate a lot of waste oil that contaminate the ocean around the port. However, the pollution prevention is not supported by a good facility. Hydrocyclone separator can be used as an alternative to supporting conventional separataor technologies such as vessel type separator or gravitational based separator to prevent the waste oil pollution. The purpuse of this study is to determine the effect of split ratio, inlet mixture velocity, and vortex finder diameter on the performance of the liquid-liquid cylindrical cyclone (LLCC). Oil (Kerosene) and water were selected as the working fluid and a red color (dye) was given to the oil to enable visualization . Performance of LLCC determined from watercut that produced from separation process. The examined inlet mixture velocity are 0.7 m/s, 0.9 m/s and 1.1 m/s with split-ratio 5%, 15%, 30%, 45%, 60%, 75% and 90%. . All of them are tested with vortex finders that have diameters 18 mm, 22 mm and 27 mm with 0 mm depth. The oil volume fraction inlet is kept constant at 25%. The result showed that LLCC was capable to separating oil-water mixture and produced watercut on underflow reaches 100%. The increasing of split-ratio will increase the watercut until reached the maximum value for all diameter of vortex finder. The condition when the oil content begin to move to the underflow on certain split-ratio is called oil drag. The split-ratio that used before oil drag occurs is called Optimum Split Ratio (OSR). LLCC should operated on OSR to obtain the best performance. The OSR is shifted to the higher split-ratio for higher inlet mixture velocity. The increasing of vortex finder diameter did not change LLCC performance significantly.

Abstract

The growth of industrial sector has increased. Especially for leather industries. Production of UPT Pengolahan Kulit Ladong in the form of wet blue tanned skin will be expected to cover some of the needs of national market demand. The purpose of this research is to analyze the operational feasibility of UPT Pengolahan Kulit Ladong from legal aspect, market aspect, technical aspect, management aspect, and also financial aspect. The object of this research is at UPT Pengolahan Kulit Ladong, Aceh Ladong Industrial Estate, Aceh Besar Regency, Aceh Province. The method to be used for research is techno-economical method. Data analysis consists of legal aspect analysis, market aspect analysis, technical aspect analysis, management aspect analysis, and financial aspect analysis. The results of this study indicate that in terms of legal aspects able to meet the requirements of legality, the market aspect seen from the still many unmet needs of skin that demand reached 20 million pieces of skin per year for the national market, technical aspects, to produce wet blue tanned skin can use the machine and equipment that already exist in UPT Pengolahan Kulit Ladong and already installed, management aspect that is with the availability of raw materials, it is expected when human resources are available also for UPT immediately operated and produce, and financial aspect where MARR: 10% , NPV: Rp. 286.089.235 (NPV> 0), BEP: 96%, PP: 4 Years 5 Months 19 Days, and IRR: 12.28%, so for the operation and production of UPT Pengolahan Kulit Ladong is feasible to run based on the analysis of whole aspects.
