Abstract

Organizations need to form the appropriate human resource management plan¬ning to meet the challenge of the dynamic, competitive, and global organizational environ¬ment. Human resource management planning is the process by which management determines how the organization should move from its current position to the desired position in the fu¬ture competitive realities. Through HR planning, management strives to have the right number and the right kinds of person, at the right places and time for the benefits of both organization and the people. However, the traditional succession planning is not enough and need to be modified. Rather than focusing on the right men at the right time, organizations need to de¬velop strong leadership teams for strategic tasks. Future competitive success requires not only different leadership success model, but also succession system that is feedback-rich, highly flexible, transparent, and that accelerates the development of leaders for the next generation. Succession management system allows the corporate leadership to build a more dynamic process easier to integrate with the firm’s strategic initiatives.Keywords:     Human Resource Planning, Succession Planning, Succession Management, Competitive  Environment.

Abstract

Diversity has become one of the most often used words of our time-and a word almost never defined. The labor force is becoming more diverse in terms of ethnicity, race, sex, sexual orientation, disability, and other cultural factors. To succeed as a manager in the twenty-first century, you must work effectively with people who are different from you. Mana¬ging workforce diversity in a way that both respects the employee and promotes a shared sense of corporate identity and vision is one of the greatest challenges facing organizations today. Recognizing the importance of leadership diversity is only the first step. No change will occur unless an effective strategy is developed for achieving inclusion through a commitment to diversity at all levels of the workforce, especially at the senior management level, where it is most strategically important and least in evidence. This paper discuss about what diversity is, why we have to manage it, what its challenges are, and what strategies that future mana¬gers can adopt in order to take advantage of the benefits of diversity while avoiding its pitfalls.Keywords:     work force diversity, managerial challenge, managing diversity, and effective strategy.

Abstract

This study examined the effect of CEO duality, board composition and board size on organizational performance of Bourse Malaysia or Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange (KLSE) listed companies. For comparison purpose, this study examined these variables for main board companies as the proxy of large size companies, second board as the proxy for small size companies, and the whole market as proxy for developing country. This study employed 196 companies selected from the main board (96) and the second board (100) of KLSE and applied a simple regression analysis to describe the data of this study and MANOVA analysis model to test the effect of CEO duality, board composition and board size on organizational performance. We run these tests separately for main board, second board companies and the total market.  The results indicated that the effects of multiple relationships between CEO du-ality and the three organizational performance variables (ROA, ROE, PER) before and after controlling by the age and industry are not significant for all three groups of board samples. While, the composition of outside directors was significant affects the firm performance for main board and combine board, but it is not significant for second board. Finally, board size is associated with higher firm performance. This evidence occurs only for main board. In gen-eral, the control variables, age and industry, do not affect significantly the relationships be-tween CEO duality, board composition, and board size and organizational performance.Key words: CEO duality, board composition, board size, firm performance.

Abstract

The purpose of this article is threefold. First, a comprehensive measure of production competence/manufacturing competence that assesses the level of support that manufacturing provides for the strategic objectives of a firm is developed. Second, hypotheses relating production competence to several financial measures of business performance are tested using data from a large sample of firms in the manufacturing industry. Third, the impact of business strategy both directly on performance and as a moderating variable in relation to production competence is analyzed. The results of the study suggest that production competence may have more of an effect on business performance for certain strategies than for others.

Abstract

Obligasi merupakan efek hutang berpendapatan tetap yang diperdagangkan di masyarakat, dimana penerbitnya setuju untuk membayar kupon selama jangka waktu tertentu serta akan membayar kembali jumlah pokoknya pada waktu jatuh tempo. Obligasi memiliki kekuatan hukum, nilai nominal, tingkat kupon, tanggal jatuh tempo, peringkat, dan kreteria lain yang tercatum dalam kontrak pinjam-meminjam antara emiten dan investor. Harga obli¬gasi berubah setiap saat sesuai dengan karakteristik obligasi tersebut dan kondisi suku bunga komersial di pasar. Faktor yang berpengaruh terhadap tingkat perubahan harga obligasi adalah, suku bunga kupon, maturity, dan hasil hingga jatuh tempo. Durasi adalah rata-rata tertimbang dari waktu terhadap seluruh arus kas obligasi, yang dikembangkan untuk meng¬gabungkan tingkat kupon dengan jatuh tempo. Durasi dapat digunakan sebagai alat ukur sen¬sitivitas harga obligasi secara lebih tepat dari pada jatuh tempo pada perubahan suku bunga yang kecil. Semakin tinggi durasi suatu obligasi semakin sensitif terhadap perubahan suku bunga. Pada perubahan suku bunga yang besar, perngggunaan durasi sebagai alat ukur sen¬sitivitas harga menjadi tidak tepat, karena kurva harga obligasi tidak linier terhadap peruba¬han suku bunga, tetapi bersifat konvek. Konveksitas adalah ukuran kecembungan kurva obli¬gasi yang menunjukkan hubungan antara harga dengan hasil hingga jatuh tempo. Semakin cembung kurva tresebut berarti harga obligasi semakin sensitif terhadap perubahan yield. Adanya konveksitas obligasi menunjukkan bahwa perubahan harga obligasi tidak simetris terhadap perubahan suku bunga. Penggunaan durasi dan konveksitas secara bersama-sama untuk mengukur perubahan harga yang disebabkan oleh perubahan besar pada tingkat hasil yang diingginkan, dapat menghasilkan perkiraan perubahan harga yang lebih baik. Penelitian dalam tesis ini mencoba mempelajari pengaruh durasi dan konveksitas terhadap perubahan harga obligasi di Indonesia, dengan mengambil sampel obligasi perusahaan yang memiliki peringkat sama, yang diperdagangkan di BES. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa durasi dan konveksitas secara signifikan tidak berpengaruh positif terhadap sensitivitas harga obli¬gasi di Indonesia.Keywords: obligasi, konveksitas, durasi, harga obligasi.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan tujuan, pertama untuk mengetahui adakah pengaruh sistim penggajian, kinerja dan senioritas secara simultan terhadap kepuasan kerja karyawan Pertamina UP IV Cilacap; kedua, mengetahui adakah pengaruh sistim penggajian, kinerja dan senioritas secara parsial terhadap kepuasan kerja karyawan Pertamina UP IV Cilacap; dan ketiga, mengetahui faktor manakah di antara sistim penggajian, kinerja dan senioritas yang memiliki pengaruh dominan terhadap kepuasan kerja karyawan Pertamina UP IV Cilacap.Hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan sebagai berikut pertama, faktor-faktor sistem penggajian, kinerja dan senioritas secara simultan berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terha¬dap kepuasan kerja karyawan Pertamina UP IV Cilacap. Kedua, faktor sistem penggajian dan kinerja secara parsial berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap kepuasan kerja karyawan Pertamina UP IV Cilacap. Ketiga, faktor senioritas secara parsial berpengaruh tidak signifi¬kan terhadap kepuasan kerja karyawan Pertamina UP IV Cilacap. Dan keempat, faktor kinerja berpengaruh signifikan dan dominan terhadap kepuasan kerja karyawan Pertamina UP IV Cilacap. Keywords: sistem penggajian, kinerja, senioritas, kepuasan kerja
