Jurnal Siasat Bisnis (JSB) is a peer review journal published twice a year (January and July) by Management Development Centre (MDC)-Department of Management, Faculty of Economics, Universitas Islam Indonesia. JSB) addresses the broad area of management science and its applications in industry and business. It is particularly receptive to research relevant to the practice of management within the emerging regions and its effects beyond. It covers studies on how management work is done (descriptive) and/or should be done (normative) in diverse organisational forms, either in profit or non-profit firms, private or public sector institutions, or formal or informal social networks. Abstract

 Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh faktor-faktor kepemimpinan, pengembangan pega¬wai dan persepsi peran terhadap kinerja Penyidik Pejabat Pegawai Negeri Sipil Hak Kekayaan Intelektual (PPNS HKI) dan untuk mengetahui di antara faktor-faktor tersebut yang dominan berpengaruh terhadap kinerja Penyi¬dik PPNS HKI Kantor Wilayah Departemen Hukum dan HAM Provinsi Se-Sumatera.Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh PPNS HKI yang berada pada Provinsi Se-Sumatera seba¬nyak 33 orang, namun karena yang mengembalikan kuesioner hanya 30 orang, maka responden pada penelitian ini berjumlah 30 orang. Model analisis yang digunakan adalah regresi linear berganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktor kepemimpinan, pengembangan pegawai dan persepsi peran secara simultan berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kinerja Penyidik PPNS HKI sebesar 72,10% sedangkan sisa¬nya sebesar 27,90% dipengaruhi oleh variabel lain yang tidak termasuk dalam penelitian ini. Secara parsial masing-masing faktor kepemimpinan berpengaruh signifikan sebesar 24,40%, pengembangan pegawai signifikan sebe¬sar 26,01% sedangkan persepsi peran secara parsial tidak signifikan karena pengaruhnya sangat kecil, hanya sebesar 1,74% pada taraf nyata 5%. Dengan demikian pengembangan pegawai berpengaruh dominan terha¬dap kinerja Penyidik PPNS HKI Kantor Wilayah Dep. Hukum dan HAM Provinsi Se-Sumatera.Kata Kunci: Kinerja, praktek kepemimpinan, pengembangan dan persepsi peran.

Abstract

The Passivity of the operations function, when compared to the finance and marketing functions, has long been noted as one of the elements which can explain poor bussiness performance. The subordinate strate¬gic role often assigned to operations leads to a reactive posture. The proactive stance for manufacturing is likely to enhance overall business performance. The riset examined empirically the relationships between manufactur¬ing proactiveness and businees performance based on data collected from a sample of firms in the manufacturing industry. Based on the manufacturing strategy literature, we identify two mayor dimensions of manufacturing proactiveness:(1) the degree of manufacturing`s involvement in the strategic processes of the business unit, and (2) the degree of commitment to long-term program of investments in manufacturing structure and infrastructure aimed at building capabilities in anticipation of their need. The results of the study suggest that dimensions of manu¬facturing proactiveness are show distinguish between high and low performance firms. The firms that score highly on long-term investmens in structural programs coupled high levels of manufacturing invol¬vement in strategic processes and planned investments in infrastructural programs correlate with higher than average performance.Keywords: Manufacturing Involvement, Infrastructural Programs, structural Programs, Business Performance

Abstract

This paper challenges the notion of “universalist” or “one-size-fits-all” approach to corporate govern¬ance. It considers different perspective of understanding organization (corporations) which in turn generate alter¬nate paradigms concerning the issue of corporate governance and the way one could govern the corporation. It looks more closely of various assumptions and theoretical frameworks underpinning the governance concepts. The main proposition of this paper is that different perspectives in theory and paradigms result in different diagno¬ses of and the solutions to the problems of corporate governance in practice. Hence, it might be argued that there should be varies model of governance that should be considered based on specific characteristics of organization -and of different context- in order for such model to be effective.Keywords: shareholding, stakeholding, corporate governance, shareholder rights, corporate efficiency

Abstract

ISO 9000 telah diterima secara luas sebagai acuan sistem manajemen kualitas dan penjaminan kualitas. Perusahaan-perusahaan yang memperoleh sertifikasi ISO dari tahun ke ke tahun mengalami pertumbu¬han yang pesat. Dengan implementasi dan memperoleh sertifikasi ISO 9000, banyak perusahaan di dunia mem¬peroleh peningkatan kinerja. Meskipun demikian, implementasi ISO 9000 juga dihadapkan pada sejumlah ham¬batan. Implementasi ISO 9000 seringkali dikaitkan dengan Total Quality Management (TQM). Banyak pihak yang menyatakan bahwa implementasi ISO 9000 sebagai langkah awal implementasi TQM. Namun antara ISO 9000 dengan TQM memiliki perbedaan yang mendasar. Oleh karena itu ISO 9000: 2000 sebagai revisi terhadap ISO 9000: 1994 didasarkan pada semangat total quality dan dipahami sebagai upaya lebih mendekatkan ISO 9000 dengan TQM.Kata kunci: ISO 9000, ISO 9001, ISO 9002, ISO 9003, ISO 9004, Total Quality Management

Abstract

Globalization has created an environment where manufacturing organization must adopt and imple¬ment sophisticated manufacturing strategy if they want to stay competitive. Consideration of environment task, those forces which are out of the short run control of management, has been linked in operation management re¬search, as precursor variable that causally related to strategic choice. This research was conducted to investigate the relationship between environment uncertainty, and manufacturing strategy. Data are collected through mailed questionnaire (525 questionnaires) and direct survey to 25 firms. The total questionnaires are sent to 550 CEOs manufacturing firm in Indonesia. Hundred and six responses are returned yielding response rate 19.27%. The study finds relationship between environmental factors such as business cost, labor availability, competitive hos¬tility, and dynamism in the market, and the manufacturing strategy choices encompassed by competitive priorities. Abstract

Asosiasi merek merupakan dasar untuk kualitas pembentukan citra merek dan ekuitas merek. Bagi pemasar, asosiasi merek berguna dalam banyak hal, terutama untuk pengambilan keputusan dan perluasan merek produk¬nya, sedangkan bagi konsumen bisa dijadikan untuk dasar dalam pemilihan merek yang bermanfaat untuk memenuhi kebutuhan dan keinginannya. Dengan menggunakan 288 responden di Kotamadia Yogyakarta, penelitian ini mencoba mengidentifikasi asosiasi merek dari handphone merek Nokia, Siemens, dan Sony Erics¬son melalui metode Cochran Q test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan ada 6 (enam) asosiasi yang bisa dimanfaatkan untuk meningkatkan citra dan ekuitas merek Nokia, sementara untuk Siemens dan Sony Ericsson masing-masing sebanyak 4 (empat) dan 10. Penelitian ini juga memetakan asosiasi masing-masing merek handphone berdasarkan katagori kon¬sumen melalui pendekatan Chi Square test. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa kelompok konsumen pria cenderung menyatakan bahwa Nokia dan Sony Ericsson sebagai handphone yang mudah digunakan untuk komunikasi, sedangkan konsumen wanita lebih cenderung menilai Siemens sebagai handphone yang ringan dibawa. Dari sudut pandang pelajar dan mahasiswa Sony Ericsson juga dianggap sebagai produk berkualitas dan mempunyai bentuk yang fashionable. Kata Kunci: Ekuitas merek, citra merek, asosiasi merek.
