Abstract

Physical development is not necessarily equivalent to spiritual development. Normally, a person who has reached maturity level will have spiritual maturity pattern such as thought maturity, personal maturity, and emotional maturity. Yet, the balance between physical maturity and spiritual maturity sometimes does not run in parallel. One may have grown physically but not spiritually. Re-ligious values need to be established in children since early ages. The religious values mean any deeds relating humans and God or among human beings rela-tionship. Physical development is measured based on chronological age, peak of human physical development which is called maturity. On the other hand, spir-itual development is measured based on level of ability and certain ability level achieved by spiritual development which is called maturity.

Pesantren as a forerunner to the original Indonesian educational institution just legally recognized in 2003 through the National Education Law No. 20/ 2003. The pesantren educations that were initially oriented only on deepen-ing religious knowledge have begun to include general subjects. The inclu-sion of these subjects is expected to expand the horizons of students’ thought in which they will also take the national examination held by the govern-ment. The informal education outcomes are appreciated to be equivalent to formal education after passing the assessment of equivalency process con-ducted by agencies appointed by the government or local authorities by ref-erence to national education standards. The pesantren has a special place and position in the national education system. Therefore, the pesantren should always make improvements and increase its education quality.

This is certainly different from those car-ry out the education specific for women. Indonesia has started to open edu-cational opportunities for women at the time of R.A. Kartini, in which the previous women education was limited by the culture. The spirit to obtain education that equal with men was stated in her letters. Kartini had inspired some Indonesian women to get education as men. Later, some women who pioneered education for women appeared such as Rahmah el-Yunusiyah, Rangkayo Rasuna Said, Dewi Sartika etc. Each of them established a special school for girls with different studies taught.

Abstract

This article discusses the relationship between Islamic education and various elements of life. The linkage between the theoretical side of Islamic education and the practical side of Islamic education is also presented here. In the study, the theoretical and applied dimensions of Islamic education can be discussed separately, but in practice, these two dimensions are inseparable. In principle, the Islamic education issues cannot be separated from any variety of issues. The Islamic education is always associated with the various elements of life, es-pecially human beings. Human beings can grow and develop properly with Is-lamic education. Conversely, humans (Muslim) also become actors for the de-velopment and the decline of Islamic education. The relationship between Mus-lims and Islamic education just likes a piece of money, which is composed of two different sides, but inseparable one another. In Islamic societies, education be-comes a key of progress.

Abstract

The policy of the National Examination (UN) continues to get criticism from education experts, practitioners, as well as various elements of society. With the problems happen in the implementation of National Examination, it can be af-firmed that the impacts of its implementation are more harmful than the objec-tives to be achieved. Considering the imbalances and disadvantages of the Na-tional Examination implementation, the government through the Ministry of Education should have to be more thoughtful and immediately review the policy comprehensively. Thus, the purpose of education should be tailored to the inter-ests of Indonesia, which is stated and defined in the the National Education Law No. 20/ 2003 on National Education System Chapter II, Article 3.
