Mixed method (quantitative and qualitative methods) was used to answer the research question that is there any significant improvement on studentsâ ability in determining main idea of a paragraph by using Jigsaw techniques?. The finding showed that there is significant effect on studentsâ ability in determining main ide of a paragraph by using Jigsaw technique. This finding was proved by the significant differences on studentsâ achievement between first cycle that is 78 and second cycle that is 84 (it implies that 97% of passing grade can be achieved). It can be concluded that this technique can be implemented by the Indonesian language teachers to improve studentsâ ability in determining main idea of the paragraphs.

The aim of this research to identify the correlation between the character building and peaceful thinking of students at the Darussalam Islamic Boarding School (Gontor). Character building is a fundamental part of Islamic education in Darussalam Islamic Boarding School as an agenda for educating their students, like: sincerity, simplycity, self-sufficency Islamic Brotherhood and freedom. This is descriptive quantitative research which observation and questionaire were used to colected the data. Population of this research were 400 pupils. Meanwhile, the sample of 200 students were as respondents of this research (simple random sampling). This research was found that there were correlation between character building and peaceful thinking of students. The r score = 0,511 and r table = 1,64 and p = 0.000 , 0.05. It means, Ho rejected and recieved H1. There were correlation between character building and peaceful thinking of students.

The government policy on autonomy of education should be followed by the inovation in many components of education institutions, especially in their management level. The appropriate management in autonomous era is that the existence of inovative leadership. In other words, they have clear vision, mission, will, and commitment to do inovations. Thus, the education institution under this inovative leadership will reach their aims based the autonomy demands quickly.

Although competency has long been the major concern in ELT either in the EFL or ESL contexts, the rise of competency-based syllabus launched by the Ministry of National Education (2006) brought about significant issue among the English teachers in the country. One of the crucial issues is that how to transfer the concepts of competences into the syllabus design. Since a syllabus does not only contain a list of subject content, but also how curriculum planners (teachers) reflect their understanding and belief about nature of language and of language teaching and learning, the ELT must be carried out to achieve communicative competence. Current investigation on the practices of ELT, however, indicates that English teachers are still walking in place, leaving the CC as a big slogan in their jobs.

The problem of this Classroom Action Research is how Cooperative Learning Model Jigsaw should be implemented in the learning of Chemistry at Grade X, Scince 3 of Senior High School 1 Padang. This study was done through the following stages such as Planning, Action, Observation, and Evaluation or Reflection. The results show among other that some important aspects were improved. The average score of each cycles show improvement in studentsâ mastery and total average of the three actions become 98 percent. It can be concluded that Cooperative Learning through Jigsaw technique improved studentsâ achievement of the subject being investigated.

Professional development is a long-life journey and rewarding in an academia. Teachers are required to improve their competences. They do not only enhance their subject matters but also upgrade their pedagogical knowledge. Professional development can be conducted through many ways. It could be done through formal education, informal training or self-reflection. This is reflexivity on an English teacherâs professional journey. It scrutinizes phases of language learning and teaching awareness. The article starts with my first contact with English and then goes on to learning-teaching experience in the later phases. The reflection on these experiences shapes my teaching identity and improves teaching competence.

The aim of this paper is to describe the application of technology on education and its impact on the learning process and teachersâ role in the future. This is library research, where the result of analysis showed that the future education is oriented on the studentsâ involvement on each learning activities. The students are hoped to be active and autonomous ones in using learning facilities and sources in line with the development of technology. The application of technology brings positive effect on the role of teachers in the future, which is signed by the changes of teachersâ role in the teaching and learning process.

Many types of learning strategies can be used by the language learners to make the learning process running well. However, in the doing the practice the students are identified have limited types of learning strategies and it makes them face many problems in learning. The aims of the study is to find the typical language learning strategies used by the English Department Students in speaking and reading in English. The result of the study showed that the level of the strategies used were still medium. Thus, the students of English Department are suggested to apply many strategies. it also hopes that the teachers are able to train sufficient strategy.

Writing is one of language skills that should be acquired by Arabic students. It may be difficult for students to learn Arabic because it is one foreign languages. Many students get difficulties in writing in Arabic language because they should pay attention to imlaiyah structure in writing words to sentences. It is very danger If the students write a verse of Alquran and hadist incorrectly. Indeed, the understanding of structure of Arabic in writing should be taken in to account as importance skill by Arabic and Islamic education students.
