Abstract

The sun is the primary source of energy on the earth, but its light sometimes cause thermal discomfort for humans. The thermal engineering started one in the automotive sector in particular car is to install the air conditioner to lower the temperature of the cabin and use the tranfer window film to block sun light intensity. Testing the proper use of window film to determine the effect of inhibition of the ability to transfer the glass clarity of light intensity on the glass needs to be done to determine what percentage inhibition that has the intensity and the lower the cabin temperature, so the thermal comfort is achieved faster. From the results of the testing were conditioned using Solar ray Collector © PHYWE Systeme GmbH CO.KG. Inhibition obtained with 40% glass has an intensity of 39% and a temperature of 63.20 C, the glass has an intensity of 60% inhibition of 21% and a temperature of 61.90 C, the glass has an intensity of 80% inhibition of 8% and a temperature of 63.80 C. So the use of glass with 60% inhibition is best to accelerate the thermal comfort is achieved.

Abstract

Lives of traditional salt farmers increasingly concerned about the unfavorable business caused by the difficulty in obtaining fuel. The use of traditional stoves for salt farmers also without a good smoke channel, making smoke pollution that is harmful to health, and also interferes with the farmers and the environment while producing salt. Therefore, it should be considered a solution to address both of these issues by improving the combustion process that occurs in the combustion chamber and by utilizing the exhaust gas heat as a preheater in the salt process. Good combustion requires sufficient air supply with a certain excess air so that the combustion process is perfect. Air supply can be done by utilizing the natural drought affected by the height of the chimney. Utilization of flue gas has been done by creating a configuration flue gases channel through the multiport stove. Testing with chimney height variation needs to be done toget the optimal height so that stove can work with a good performance to produce salt. The results showed that the optimum height of the chimney in the semi-modern salt stove is at a height of 1.55m with a thermal efficiency of 48.6%.

Abstract

Dessicated coconut is the main ingredient in the manufacture of coconut ‘gongseng’ spices. Traditional methods of drying  the grated cocont directly in the sun have constraints  such as relatively longer drying time, products hygiene and supervisory personnel. Solar dryers conditioning system with a solar collector has been developed to overcome these constraints and tested in Lamlhom area, Aceh Besar. The research objective was to determine the effect of cloudy weather on the performance of solar drying system in term of the moisture content  and the qualityof the ddessicated coconut. Tests carried out in the temperature range of 30°C - 60°C in a state of clear and cloudy weather. Tests comparing the two samples of coconut grater with a weight of 2 kg and 4 kg at two  weather condition;sunny and cloudy. The experimental results of both samples on sunny and cloudy weather conditions indicate that the water content of the coconut water is still in the range of moisture content standards set by SNI 01-375-2000 which is maximum moisture content of 3%.

Abstract

Biomass has several advantages, especially as it is renewable in nature. The low energy content owned by biomass requires the use of effective techniques, such as gasification.  This research was to determine the rate of heat transfer that occurs in the burning of fuel in the combustion chamber fluidized types. The benefit of this research is to identify the heat loss in biomass combustion system. The fuels used in this study are wood-planed chips, branches of dry wood and areca nut husk. The size of fuel was 2 to 3 mm. The fuel was weighed to 2 kgs for one testing/biomass. The combustion duration was 50 seconds. The heat loss in biomass combustors with wood-planed chips occurred in 30 seconds at Tf 724oC and TW 203 oC, the heat loss was 26813.33 W/m. The heat loss in the combustion chamber with biomass wood-planed chips in 15 seconds at Tf-average 334 oC and Tw 44 oC, the heat loss was 2947.03 W/m. The heat loss in biomass combustors with branches of dry wood in 30 seconds at Tf 713 oC and Tw 201 oC, the heat loss was 26350.15 W/m. The heat loss in the combustion chamber with branches of dry wood biomass in 20 seconds at Tf-average 286 oC and Tw 42 oC, the heat loss was 2479.57 W/m. The heat loss in biomass combustors with areca nut husk occurred in 20 seconds at Tf 515 oC and Tw 137 oC, the heat loss was 19453.82 W/m. The heat loss in the combustion chamber with areca nut husk biomass occurred in 15 seconds at Tf- average 118 oC and Tw 39 oC, the heat loss was 802.81 W/m.

Abstract

Which more lower deficit of fossil energy for generated power plant, in order to need to do wind power generation plant analysis based on renewable energy which is wind turbine horizontal type. This study is analyzing a power system with electric power load Meulaboh town by using a hybrid power generation system which HOMER between wind turbines and diesel generators. Wind resources are used is measured by BMKG Meulaboh Station, which is 6 m/s and the value of the price of diesel fuel used by the generator is equal to 0.5 $/L. The results of the simulation is given by the value of the Net Present Cost (NPC) and the lowest, in the amount of $ 66,535,084 for the value of Renewable Factor (RF) was 58% and for the value of Renewable Factor (RF), the largest at 71%, the value of the Net Present Cost (NPC) amounted to $ 68,091,256.
