Abstract

Eel (Anguilla sp.) Including one of the important fish rnelakukan displacement (migration) from the sea to freshwater environments (migration anadromous) for himself and further maturation kernbali to sea (migration katadromous), to perform spawning. The second migration is the whole life cycle of eels. Almost all of the estuary in Indonesia which can deep sea found Elver eels. This study aims to determine the diversity, distribution, abundance and size structure of glass eel in Palu River estuary. This research was conducted for six months ie in September 2014 to February 2015. The sampling locations estuary of Palu River. Sampling was done every month dark during the study, further samples are identified by Anodorsal vertebrae (ADV) and Caudal spot (CS) or Tail Spot (TS). The results showed that the diversity index of glass eel are migratory in the mouth of Palu River has a level of diversity of small and stability of the community is low, for an index of uniformity showed that the distribution of individuals among species uneven or there are certain types of dominant while the dominance index showed that there is one species dominate while doing migration of Palu River that is Anguilla marmorata. The distribution of glass eel on a monthly basis show a uniform pattern of spread. Eel abundance of glass eels are affected by the tides that occur in the mouth of Palu River. Glass eels are doing ruaya anadromous (migrating) to the mouth of Palu River month period September 2014 to February 2015 consists of three species, namely Anguilla marmorata, Anguilla sp. and Anguilla bicolor pacifica.

Abstract

This research aim to descript the Differences in student learning outcomes in terms of student motivation using type of STAD cooperative learning model and NHT Cooperative Learning model. This way quantity research. The research sample was the grade VII I student of SMPN 2 Palu as first experiment class and grade VII E student of SMPN 2 Palu as second experiment class. This research was used anquet instrument for student’s motivation and test for student leraning outcomes. Data analysis was two way analysis of variance. The result showed that : (1) there are not different the result of student learning, between student was thought by cooperative learning model STAD and student was thought by cooperative learning model NHT, (2) there are not different student motivations (had high, high, had low) between student was thought by STAD cooperative learning model and student was thought by NHT cooperative learning model judging from the results of student learning, (3) there are not interaction between student motivations (had high, high, had low) with tudent was thought by STAD cooperative learning model and student was thought by NHT cooperative learning model.

Abstract

The resesearch aimed to examine the effect of inquiry learning model of the critical thinking skills and describe the effect of Inquiry Learning Model of the process skills on the Biology subject of grade VII students at SMP Negeri 19 Palu. The research method was a quasi experiment. The population was the grade VII. It was based  random sampling and the selected class was the class VIIa with the number of students were 28 as the control class and class VIIB with the number of  students were 27 as the experiment class. Retrieving data using the instrument test of the critical thinking ability and the students' skills of observation sheets. Hypothesis test process skills were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA). Hypothesis test results of the critical thinking skills showed 0,001 < 0,05 and F count 31,003 > F table 4,02. Hypotheses test results of the process skills showed 0,001 < 0,05 and F count 26,666> F table was 4,02. The results of the study indicated that there were significant to the inquiry learning model critical thinking skills and also there was the effect of the process skills of the students.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to identifying and describing kinds of plant and design as an instructional media in form of booktest about the kinds of plants at SMA GKST Palu. This was a survey research using descriptive method with cruising technique and continued by the research development. The kind of indicator was focussed on the morphological characteristics organs, habitat of plants. The indicator of observation for the feasibility learning media were: contents, design and media. The analysis technique obtained descriptively and for qualitative learning media. The result show that 74 kinds of plants classified into 44 family and 68 genus. The results of the development in this case the pocket book obtained from the validation of content expert, design expert and media expert with the percentage 91.00 percent, 95.90 percent and 97.50 percent, a peer assesment or biology teacher was 89.23 percent, small group assesment was 95.11 percent and large group assesment was 98.67 percent. The percentage value when converting into the eligibility criteria in the category of decent. It can be concluded that the percentage value can be categorized into feasible category and can be used as biology learning media.

Abstract

An research was conducted to know the land suitability for paddy plant, food crop dry land, and annual plant in Malangga Sub Watershed, Tinigi Village, Galang Subdistrict, and the aim of the research also to minimize constraint and maximize potency for the increasing of productivity to develop agriculture sustainibility, and to evaluate the working of Malangga Sub Watershed, Tinigi Village, Galang Subdistrict. The research was conducted on April until June 2012. The research was an descritive research (non experiment), the data was collected on land suitability evaluation research of some comodity in Malangga Sub Watershed, Tinigi Village, Galang Subdistrict, Tolitoli Regency. The result of the research showed that the level of soil fertility in research area, as general, was low until medium. The research also showed that the land class was suitable for paddy plant of 403,84 ha, for food crop dry land was 94,38 ha, and for annual plant waas 548,4 ha. Economically evaluation showed that paddy plant was very suitable to be developed with R/C ratio was 1.8.

Abstract

One of the reason for poor students understanding of physics concepts is less availability of particular books supporting the learning activities and the lack of development of learning tools expecially the material vibrations, waves and sound. This research is a development study with the limited test that aims to develop the instructional materials in natural science physics of the topic vibrations waves and sound, including teaching materials, students worksheet, and lesson plan. The subject of this research was students at VIIIA class of SMP Negeri 6 Palu with 40 students. There were four steps of the development of this model: (l) defining, including student analysis, concept analysis, task analysis, and specification indicator of learning outcomes; (2) designing, containing media selection, the selection of format, and the early design of instructional materials; (3) developing, dealing with expert validation, simulation, and revision; and (4) distributing. The strength of instructional materials compiled systematically could improve the students’ concept understanding and make the teaching-learning process in the classroom easier. The effectiveness of the instructional materials obtained by t-test which was  tcounted (5.967) > ttable (1.664). Based on the result of data analysis and t test, also the test result of concept understanding, it can be concluded that the product of the instructional materials development of Natural Science Physics with the topic of vibration waves and sound by using 4-D development model at SMP Negeri 6 Palu, which was valid and effective as teaching material for students, student worksheet, and lesson plan have been produced.

Abstract

The purpose of this study were: (1) To describe the capability of SMP student’s field dependent cognitive style in solving quadrilateral problem, (2) To describe the capability of SMP school student’s field independent cognitive style in solving the quadrilateral problem. This study is an exploratory study by qualitative descriptive approach. Subjects of this study were 2 students of IX SMP AL-Azhar. Data collection techniques by cognitive style test, mathematics test, and interview.Cognitive style test was used to retrieve data about cognitive style, a math test was used to determine the student's capability to solve quadrilateral problems, and while the interview technique used was unstructured interviews, to determine matters relating to student answers. The data analysis techniques used are reduce the data, presentation of data, triangulation of data, and drawing conclusions. Based on the data analysis results, it can be concluded that: (1) Subjects haveFIcognitivestylesfaster to under stand the problem, compared with students have FD cognitive style of FD. Subjects with FD cognitive styles hould read 4 times and even more tounder stand the given problem. Different from subjects with FI cognitive styles who just byread 2 times, able to understand the given problem. (2) Subjects with FI cognitive style makes 2 alternative complete problem solving plans, and able to use the formula of plane area related by given problems, while subjects with FD cognitive style make an uncompleted problem solving plan and use the formula of plane area related by given problems. (3) When implementing the problem solving plan, subjects with FI cognitive styles were ableto implement the plant completely, and able identify the logical reason. Subject with FD cognitive style were able to implement problem solvingas planned, but unable to givea logical reasonabout the results, evenless confident with his results. (4) Subjects with FI cognitive style were ableto checking back the answer by recalculate the result. Subjects check the answer by comparing the results obtained with the unit costper meter, orcal culate by reverse method. Subject with FD cognitive style was checking his answer by stare the result and unable to checking back the answer.

Abstract

This study aimed to describe the perception of science teachers of curriculum 2013 and implementation in junior high school at the city of Palu. The method used in this research is descriptive qualitative method. The population is all science teachers as the city of Palu 150 people and purposive sampling technique is sampling the number of respondents 65 teachers targeted curriculum implementation 2013. The results of the perception of science teachers classified curriculum criteria. Teachers' perceptions of the implementation of the criteria classified underprivileged. Factors supporting and implementing the curriculum 2013 is the role of the school principal, the creativity of teachers, learners activity, socialization, facilities and learning resources, as well as a conducive environment. Solutions to optimize the implementation of the curriculum in 2013 is the teacher should instill self-dicipline to learners, providing textbooks and books student teacher, discussion with peers, maximizing the school environment as an alternative source of student learning and optimization of exercising socialization, mentoring, coaching and clinical teachers.

Abstract

The research aims to (1) describe pedagogical competence biology teacher at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Models of Palu. (2) describe the application of the scientific approach to the study of biology at Madrasah Aliyah Negeri 2 Models of Palu. This research is a descriptive study. Subjects in this study covers all biology teachers MAN 2 Model Palu is numbered 5 teachers. The type of data that is obtained is qualitative data. The results showed that the biology teacher pedagogical competence in every aspect, namely: understanding of the educational foundation of insight or good category; better understanding of the student category; developing curriculum or syllabus category good enough; learning good design category; implementation of learning that educates and dialogical either category; the use of learning technologies both categories; evaluation of the results of both categories; development of students to actualize various potentials both categories. MAN 2 Palu biology teacher in the application of scientific approaches, new can apply both on aspects observe and ask, but on aspects of collecting the data, associate or process information/reasoning, and communicate is still not good. Results of the data analysis portrait that teachers' understanding of biology is still lacking on the scientific approach as well as mastering the steps implementing aspects of the scientific approach.

Abstract

Lack of learning activities and outcomesin science subject are the main problems faced by year VI of State Primary School 1 of Biromaru. The research was a class room action experiment using Kemmis and Mc. Taggart model with two cycles. The cycles included different stages such as planning, implementation, observation and reflection. The research subject was 24 students with various learning capability consisting of 10 males and 14 females of year VI of Biromaru state primary school 1.  The achievement results showed that the students’ learning activities in the cycle 1 and 2 was well implemented and the learning achievement in the science subject had improved as suggested by learning indicator  achievement both in individual comprehensionthe classical mastery learning. It is concluded that the implementation of learning model of reciprocal teaching in science subject can improve the learning activities and achievement of year VI students of state primary school 1 of Biromaru.
