Abstract

Fuzzy logic controller (FLC) is a heuristic method by If-Then Rules which resembles human intelligence and it is a good method for designing Non-linear control systems. In this paper, an arbitrary helicopter model includes articulated manipulators has been simulated with Matlab SimMechanics toolbox. Due to the difficulties of modeling this complex system, a fuzzy controller with simple fuzzy rules has been designed for its yaw and roll angles in order to stabilize the helicopter while it is in the presence of disturbances or its manipulators are moving for a task. Results reveal that a simple FLC can appropriately control this system.

Abstract

Security is the major challenge for Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). The sensor nodes are deployed in non controlled environment, facing the danger of information leakage, adversary attacks and other threats. Trust and Reputation models are solutions for this problem and to identify malicious, selfish and compromised nodes. This paper aims to evaluate varying collusion effect with respect to static (SW), dynamic (DW), static with collusion (SWC), dynamic with collusion (DWC) and oscillating wireless sensor networks to derive the joint resultant of Eigen Trust Model. An attempt has been made for the same by comparing aforementioned networks that are purely dedicated to protect the WSNs from adversary attacks and maintain the security issues. The comparison has been made with respect to accuracy and path length and founded that, collusion for wireless sensor networks seems intractable with the static and dynamic WSNs when varied with specified number of fraudulent nodes in the scenario. Additionally, it consumes more energy and resources in oscillating and collusive environments.

Abstract

Cognitive Radio has proven as a optimum technique for getting improved spectrum utilization by sharing the radio spectrum with licensed primary users opportunistically. The cognitive radio is a new paradigm to overcome the persisting problem of spectrum underutilization.Seeing the everincreasing demand of wireless applications, the radio sp ectrum is a valuable resource and in cognitive radio systems, trustworthy spectrum sensing techniques are required to avoid any harmful interference to the primary users. As cognitive radio possess the capability to utilise the unused spectrum holes or white spaces so,there is a tremendous need to scan the large range of spectrum either for interference management or for primary receiver detection.Dynamic Spectrum Access techniques need to be implemented for the sake of better radio resource management and computational complexity analysis of multirate filter bank cognitive radio, where BER and Eb/No are the performance metrics or governing parameters to affect the system performance using polyphase filter bank. The present paper deals with the study of effect of variation of number of subchannels M at fix overlapping factor K of polyphase component of Filter Bank Multicarrier cognitive radio in terms of prototype filter length at Lp=K*M .

Abstract

The selection suitable generator for wind turbines will be done based on technical criteria and priorities of the project. In this paper, a method for determining the type of wind turbine generator with an example is explained. In the paper, for a 10kW wind turbine, two generators have been proposed. The first case is a squirrel-cage asynchronous generator coupled to the turbine through the gearbox and directly connected to three phase output. Other PM generators that are directly coupled to the turbine and it is connected to the grid using the inverter. The results show that according to wind conditions, a 10kW permanent magnet generator is more advantageous in terms of energy production.

Abstract

In this paper, a new Chirping Algorithm (CA) is developed based on the chirping behaviour of crickets for solving the reactive power optimization problem. It is based on the chirping behaviour of crickets (insect) found almost everywhere around the world. The proposed Chirping Algorithm (CA) has been tested in standard IEEE 30, 57,118 bus test systems and simulation results show clearly the better performance of the proposed algorithm in reducing the real power loss and control variables are well within the limits.

Abstract

This paper presents common mode voltage analysis of single phase grid connected photovoltaic inverter. Many researchers proposed different grid tie inverters for applications like domestic powering, street lighting, water pumping, cooling and heating applications, however traditional grid tie PV inverter uses either a line frequency or a high frequency transformer between the inverter and grid but losses will increase in the network leading to reduced efficiency of the system. In order to increase the efficiency, with reduced size and cost of the system, the effective solution is to remove the isolation transformer. But common mode (CM) ground leakage current due to parasitic capacitance between the PV panels and the ground making the system unreliable. The common mode current reduces the efficiency of power conversion stage, affects the quality of grid current, deteriorate the electric magnetic compatibility and give rise to the safety threats. In order to eliminate the common mode leakage current in Transformerless PV systm two control algorithms of multi-carrier pwm are implemented and compared for performance analysis. The shoot-through issue that is encountered by traditional voltage source inverter is analyzed for enhanced system reliability. These control algorithms are compared for common mode voltage and THD comparisons. The proposed system is designed using MATLAB/SIMULINK software for analysis.

Abstract

In this paper, Enriched Firefly Algorithm (EFA) is planned to solve optimal reactive power dispatch problem. This algorithm is a kind of swarm intelligence algorithm based on the response of a firefly to the light of other fireflies. In this paper, we plan an augmentation on the original firefly algorithm. The proposed algorithm extends the single population FA to the interacting multi-swarms by cooperative Models. The proposed EFA has been tested on standard IEEE 30 bus test system and simulation results show clearly the better performance of the proposed algorithm in reducing the real power loss.

Abstract

In very distribution system, physical contact between conductors of a phase and substances around them like trees, walls of the buildings and surfaces below them, always in possible. These conditions known as High Impedance Faults (HIFs), can lead to death due to electricity congestion, burning or ignition via arc or heat of the substances. On the other hand, the whole energy produced by the power company doesn’t achieve by the arbitrary loads and a part of them is lost that this loss is harmful for the power supply companies. Current relaying in distribution systems is only capable of detecting short circuit conditions leads to flowing significant amount of generated electric power to the earth without achieving by the load. It is very difficult to detect HIFs by protection equipments. Because occurrence of them just leads to slight increase in the amount of load current. So it can be considered as a usual increase in the value of load current incorrectly. However various solutions for detecting high impedance faults have been proposed. Most of these approaches are complicated or difficult implementation. In this paper, a novel approach for detecting high impedance faults based on harmonic analysis of current in distribution systems has been presented. Various simulations in PSCAD envirounment have validated that proposed approach in simple in implementation and have great accuracy.

Abstract

Facial expression is one of the most powerful and direct mediums embedded in human beings to communicate with other individuals’ feelings and abilities. In recent years, many surveys have been carried on facial expression analysis. With developments in machine vision and artificial intelligence, facial expression recognition is considered a key technique of the developments in computer interaction of mankind and is applied in the natural interaction between human and computer, machine vision and psycho- medical therapy. In this paper, we have developed a new method to recognize facial expressions based on discovering differences of facial expressions, and consequently appointed a unique pattern to each single expression.by analyzing the image by means of a neighboring window on it, this recognition system is locally estimated. The features are extracted as binary local features; and according to changes in points of windows, facial points get a directional motion per each facial expression. Using pointy motion of all facial expressions and stablishing a ranking system, we delete additional motion points that decrease and increase, respectively, the ranking size and strenghth. Classification is provided according to the nearest neighbor. In the conclusion of the paper, the results obtained from the experiments on tatal data of Cohn-Kanade demonstrate that our proposed algorithm, compared to previous methods (hierarchical algorithm combined with several features and morphological methods as well as geometrical algorithms), has a better performance and higher reliability.
