Abstract

                                             ABSTRACT Unproductive forests in the form of secondary forest tend to be converted into forest plantation, agriculture and other land uses. Even though the secondary forest can still be restored using native commercial species. This study aimed to determine the structure and composition of stands, the potential of residual stands, and natural regeneration of the secondary forest in KHDTK Labanan. The research was carried out through vegetation inventory and vegetation analysis to calculate stand potential, natural regeneration, Importance Value Index (IVI), and species diversity. The results showed the structure of commercial species stands in secondary forests in the Labanan KHDTK followed an inverted "J" shaped exponential curve as well as stand structure of natural forest. The potential of commercial species stands with diameter of 20 cm and above was 22.30 m3/ha with a number of trees more than 25 trees/ha. Natural regeneration of commercial species for pole were 121 stems/ha, sapling were 47 stems/ha, and seedling were 50 stems/ha. The dominant species of native commercial such as  Shorea parvifolia, S. atrinervosa, S. agami, S. hopeifolia, Madhuca malaccensis, and Koilodepas sp needs to be maintained and nurtured in order to ensure the continuity the natural succession and diversity, thus become a source of seed trees. The species diversity index in the sekunder forest was high to moderate.                                                 ABSTRAK Hutan tidak produktif berupa hutan sekunder cenderung dikonversi menjadi hutan tanaman, perkebunan, dan peruntukkan lainnya, meskipun hutan sekunder masih bisa dipulihkan dengan menggunakan jenis-jenis komersial setempat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui struktur dan komposisi tegakan, potensi tegakan tinggal, dan permudaan alami pada hutan sekunder di KHDTK Labanan. Penelitian dilakukan melalui inventarisasi vegetasi dan analisis vegetasi guna menentukan potensi tegakan, kondisi permudaan alami, Indeks Nilai Penting (INP), dan keragaman jenis. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan struktur tegakan jenis komersial pada hutan sekunder di KHDTK Labanan mengikuti kurva eksponensial berbentuk “J” terbalik seperti struktur tegakan pada berbagai kondisi hutan alam. Potensi tegakan jenis komersial diameter 20 cm ke atas sebesar 22,30 3m/ha dengan jumlah pohon lebih dari 25 pohon/ha. Permudaan alami jenis komersial untuk tingkat tiang 121 pohon/ha, pancang 47 batang/ha, dan semai 50 batang/ha. Dengan demikian, pada hutan sekunder KHDTK Labanan tidak diperlukan pengayaan. Jenis unggulan setempat yang dominan antara lain jenis Shorea parvifolia, S. atrinervosa, S. agami,  S. hopeifolia, Madhuca malaccensis, dan Koilodepas sp. perlu dijaga dan dipelihara agar suksesi alami dan keanekaragaman terus berlanjut, serta menjadi sumber benih. Indeks keanekaragaman jenis di hutan sekunder KHDTK Labanan termasuk tinggi sampai sedang.

Abstract

                                            ABSTRACTThe existence of community forests is one of the efforts to provide wood raw materials by the community. This effort has limitations such as non-standardized silvicultural techniques and cutting cycle, and no annual growth measurements. This is a problem in compiling tables of community forest stands. Therefore, no adequate information on the stands’ growth to support the promotion of community forest development. This study was conducted to overcome those problems using modeling techniques involving several different measurement locations and plant ages. The parameters of the built model were the elevation model, the quality of the place to grow, and the tree diameter of each class of quality of jabon stands’ site. The research objective was to create a growth and site quality model and provide data on jabon diameter growth in each class. The results showed that the Schumacher model could be used in estimating the tree height of jabon, while the ChapmanRichards model was excellent in classifying the quality of growing sites of jabon. The only valid model for diameter growth of jabon stands was Bonita II.                                               ABSTRAKKeberadaan hutan rakyat merupakan salah satu upaya penyediaan bahan baku kayu oleh  masyarakat. Upaya ini memiliki batasan seperti teknik silvikultur dan umur tebang yang  tidak baku, serta pengukuran pertumbuhan yang tidak dilakukan setiap tahun. Hal ini menjadi masalah dalam menyusun tabel tegakan hutan rakyat. Dampaknya adalah informasi pertumbuhan tegakan tidak ada sehingga promosi pembangunan hutan rakyat menjadi terbatas. Untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut, dilakukan penelitian dengan menggunakan teknik pemodelan yang melibatkan beberapa lokasi pengukuran dan umur tanaman jabon yang berbeda. Parameter model yang dibangun adalah model peninggi, kualitas tempat tumbuh dan diameter pohon setiap kelas kualitas tempat tumbuh. Tujuan penelitian adalah membuat model peninggi dan kualitas tempat tumbuh serta menyediakan data pertumbuhan diameter pohon di setiap kelas. Hasil penelitian meunjukkan bahwa model Schumacher dapat digunakan dalam menduga tinggi pohon jabon, sedangkan model Chapman-Richards sangat baik dalam mengklasifikasi kualitas tempat tumbuh jabon. Model pertumbuhan diameter tegakan jabon yang valid hanya pada Bonita II.

Abstract

                                                ABSTRACTSengon (Falcataria moluccana) plantations, particularly in Java, have been facing threats from gall-rust disease caused by the pathogen Uromycladium falcatariae, which has caused considerable economic losses. Other species with morphological similarities with F. moluccana raises the question of whether the infected and non-infected sengon are the same species. This study aimed to confirm the haplotype of infected and non-infected sengon by gall-rust and compare them with a morphologically similar species of Albizia chinensis using the psbA-trnH intergenic spacer region molecular marker on chloroplast DNA. Wet wood samples from 32 infected plants and 32 non-infected plants were collected from Bogor and Ciamis, West Java, for analysis and comparison with A. chinensis sequences from the same gene region. The results showed that the infected and non-infected sengon came from the same haplotype with a genetic distance of 0 and InDel diversity of 0,031. Meanwhile, from 380 parallel aligned sites, there were 27 different sites between F. moluccana and A. chinensis. The genetic distance of the two species was classified as very low at 0.017. The psbA-trnH intergenic spacer region sequences of sengon in this study were the first to be uploaded to GenBank and can be accessed with accession numbers of LC456638.1 to LC456701.1.                                               ABSTRAKHutan tanaman sengon (Falcataria moluccana), khususnya di Pulau Jawa, pada  umumya menghadapi serangan penyakit karat tumor yang disebabkan oleh patogen Uromycladium falcatariae, sehingga menimbulkan kerugian ekonomi yang cukup besar. Adanya spesies lain yang memiliki kemiripan morfologi dengan F. moluccana menimbulkan  pertanyaan apakah sengon yang terserang dan tidak terserang karat tumor merupakan jenis yang sama. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengonfirmasi jenis sengon yang terserang dan tidak terserang karat tumor dan membandingkan dengan spesies yang mirip secara morfologi, yaitu Albizia chinensis menggunakan penanda molekuler daerah psbA-trnH intergenic spacer pada DNA kloroplas. Sampel kayu basah dari 32 tanaman terserang dan 32 tanaman yang tidak terserang karat tumor diambil dari Bogor dan Ciamis, Jawa Barat, untuk dianalisis dan dibandingkan dengan sekuens A. chinensis dari wilayah gen yang sama. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa sengon yang terserang dan tidak terserang berasal dari haplotipe yang sama dengan jarak genetik 0 dan keragaman InDel sebesar 0,031. Sementara itu, dari 380 situs yang sejajar, terdapat 27 situs yang berbeda antara F. moluccana dan A. chinensis. Jarak genetik kedua jenis tersebut tergolong sangat rendah yaitu 0,017. Sekuens daerah psbA-trnH intergenic spacer sengon dalam penelitian ini merupakan yang pertama diunggah di GenBank dan dapat diakses dengan nomer aksesi LC456638.1 sampai LC456701.1.

Abstract

                                                ABSTRACT Forests play an important role in the livelihoods of local people in most developing countries. Local people depend on forest resources for various products such as building materials, medicines, and food.  This study examined the benefits and economic feasibility of suren (Toona sureni) cultivation as a forest plant species that is widely used by local people for various needs. Interviews were conducted with selected respondents of forest communities in Sipolha Horison Village, Pematang Sidamanik District, Simalungun Regency, North Sumatra Province by purposive sampling method from May to June 2018. The analysis of the benefits of suren wascarried out in a qualitative descriptive method. Simultaneously, the economic assessment was done by using NPV (Net Present Value) to determine the feasibility of suren cultivation. The results showed that the local people used suren trees as land boundaries and shade. The plants’ stem were used for house walls, house frames, boats and ships, while the leaves were commonly used for fresh vegetables, medicines and natural insecticide. The NPV value obtained with an interest rate of 17.5% was 29,153,089 IDR/ha/cycle, which indicates that the cultivation of suren is feasible to develop.                                                ABSTRAK Hutan berperan penting dalam mata pencaharian masyarakat lokal di sebagian besar negara berkembang. Masyarakat lokal bergantung pada sumber daya hutan untuk berbagai produk seperti bahan bangunan, obat-obatan, dan makanan. Studi ini mengkaji manfaat dan kelayakan budi daya ekonomi suren (Toona  sureni) sebagai salah satu spesies tumbuhan hutan yang banyak dimanfaatkan masyarakat setempat untuk berbagai kebutuhan. Wawancara dilakukan secara purposive sampling selama bulan Mei-Juni 2018 terhadap masyarakat sekitar hutan di Desa Sipolha Horison Kecamatan Pematang Sidamanik Kabupaten Simalungun, Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Kajian manfaat suren dilakukan secara deskriptif kualitatif, sedangkan penilaian ekonominya menggunakan NPV (Net Present Value) untuk mengetahui kelayakan pengusahaan suren. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa masyarakat memanfaatkan pohon suren sebagai  pembatas lahan dan naungan. Batang tanamannya digunakan untuk dinding rumah, kusen, perahu dan kapal, sedangkan daunnya digunakan untuk lalapan makan, obat obatan dan insektisida alami. Nilai NPV yang diperoleh dengan tingkat suku bunga 17,5% adalah Rp 29.153.089 ha/daur, yang menunjukkan bahwa budi daya tanaman suren layak dikembangkan.

Abstract

                                                ABSTRACT Wood demand has increased, but wood supply from natural forests and industrial plantations has decreased. Small scale privately owned forest is an alternative to meet wood needs. To ensure the sustainability of small scale privately owned forest, it should provide high profit for the farmers and that can only be achieved by eficiency in the wood marketing. This study aimed to analyzed the efficiency of sengon wood marketing in Pekon Lengkukai Village. The research was conducted in January-February 2020. Data was collected through observation, documentation studies, and interviews with farmers and traders. Respondents consisted of 52 sengon wood farmers selected by simple random sampling and 10 marketing institutions (3 sawmills, 2 traders, and 5 loggers) selected by snowball sampling. The data were analyzed through marketing channels and market performance by using share and profit margin ratio calculation. The results identified four channels of sengon wood marketing, namely: (1) farmers - end consumers (2) farmers - sawmill - consumers, (3) farmers - collectors traders - sawmill - consumers, and (4) farmers - wood cutters - collector - sawmill - consumer. Sawmill has significant influence on marketing and achieved the highest ratio of profit margins. Based on the ratio of profit margins and share price at the farm level, the marketing of sengon wood in Lengkukai Village is inefficient. The bargaining position of farmers needs to be improved, by forming farmer groups as a marketing institution that accommodates and promotes farmer’s sengon wood, and open farmer’s access to market information and capital credit.                                            ABSTRAK Kebutuhan pasokan kayu mengalami peningkatan, tetapi kayu dari hutan alam dan hutan tanaman industri mengalami penurunan. Hutan rakyat menjadi alternatif untuk memenuhi kebutuhan ini. Untuk menjaga kelestarian hutan rakyat, maka petani sebagai pengelolanya harus mendapatkan keuntungan yang tinggi, hal ini dapat tercapai jika pemasarannya efisiensi. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk menganalisis efisiensi pemasaran kayu sengon di Pekon Lengkukai, Kabupaten Tanggamus, Provinsi Lampung. Penelitian dilaksanakan bulan Januari-Februari 2020. Pengambilan data dilakukan melalui observasi lapang, studi dokumentasi dan wawancara pada petani kayu sengon serta lembaga pemasaran yang terlibat. Responden petani kayu sengon yang diwawancara, meliputi 52 orang petani yang dipilih secara acak sederhana, dan 10 lembaga pemasaran (3 sawmill, 2 pedagang pengumpul, dan 5 penebang kayu) yang dipilih menggunakan metode snowball sampling. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis berdasarkan saluran pemasaran dan keragaan pasar melalui perhitungan share dan ratio profit margin. Hasil penelitian mengidentifikasi empat saluran pemasaran kayu sengon di Pekon Lengkukai, Kabupaten Tanggamus, yaitu: (1) petani – konsumen akhir (2) petani – sawmill – konsumen akhir, (3) petani – pedagang pengumpul – sawmill – konsumen akhir, dan (4) petani – penebang kayu – pedagang pengumpul – sawmill – konsumen akhir. Sawmill memiliki pengaruh besar terhadap pemasaran kayu sengon dan juga memperoleh rasio profit margin tertinggi. Berdasarkan ratio profit margin dan share harga di tingkat petani, maka pemasaran kayu sengon di Pekon Lengkukai belum efisien. Untuk pemasaran lebih efisiensi, posisi tawar petani perlu ditingkatkan dengan membentuk kelompok tani sebagai lembaga pemasaran untuk menampung dan memasarkan kayu sengon dari petani, dan membuka akses petani pada informasi pasar kayu sengon dan kredit permodalan.
