Abstract

Dust generated from processes of Nitrogen Phosphate Potassium (NPK) fertilizer production, can disperse in the workplace and harm to the workers. Petrokimia Gresik have high risk from dust deposition on their respiratory tract. This research purpose to analize  the assocation between behavior with lung function disorder on workers at Unit II NPK production section in industry PT. Petrokimia Gresik, in Gresik Regency. This research was an observational research with a cross cectional design and 30 samples were taken. Sampling was carried out by using a purposive sampling technique. Data were analyzed by chi-square and multivariate by regresi logistic technique. The result of the research showed that factors which were related to the lung function disorder were exposure the habit of using personal protective device (p=0,023). For factors smoking habits, continuity of the use of masks and exercise habits the analysis can not be done because of the constant variables. Abstract

In rice mill industry, there are a number of risks that lead to health problems to workers. One of the problems is dust resulted from the process of milling paddy to become rice. Dust can decrease air quality and produces air pollution.District of Sukowono, Jember Regency is one of rice production centres in Jember Regency. Based on preliminary survey on October 7, 2009, 8 of 20 workers at rice mills in District of Sukowono often experienced subjective complaints. Data analyses applied by the researcher were Spearman Test and Contingency Coefficient Test in purpose of identifying the relation between individual characteristics, dust concentration and dust control due to subjective complaints on workers at rice mills. Based on statistical test, it was obtained that there was correlation between age (p=0.007), length of work period (p=0.000), smoking habit (p=0.040), personal hygiene (p=0.000) and dust concentration (p=0.011) and subjective complaints of breathing. Moreover, sex (p=0.425), level of education (p=0.140), length of work period (p=0.159), exercising habit (p=0.370), the usage of personal protective equipment (p=0.775) did not have correlation with subjective complaints of breathing. From the research results, it is expected that workers reduce cigarette consumption and not smoke while working. Abstract

Indonesia has experienced an increasing in contraceptive use. However, it is not in line with a decreased unmet need for family planning. The decentralization policy for family planning may lead to lower unmet need among poor women.  This research aims to analyze impacts on decentralization policy for family planning in meeting contraceptive needs for poor households. This study was a survey panel using the Indonesia Demographic Health Survey (IDHS) of 2007. The subjects were all married women aged 15-49 years old. Data analysis used a multilevel modeling technique to assess the effect of individual and community factors on the unmet need for family planning. The unmet need in Indonesia was 9.2%, 8.6% and 9.1% for the year of 1997, 2002-2003 and 2007, respectively. Poorest women had higher odds of unmet need than richest (odds ratio, 1.4). The odds were also higher among women who never attending school, lack of contraceptive knowledge, unexposed with family planning information and problems in the access. In community level, the odds of unmet need was smaller when a woman lived in a community with higher mean of family planning knowledge. The implementation of decentralization policy on family planning was reduced the odds of unmet need for poor households in which the policy is then followed by the improvement of family planning knowledge for individual and community. Key words: contraceptive need, poor households, decentralization
