Abstract

K-means clustering method based on Ordered Weighted Averaging (OWA) was developed by Cheng et al (2009) to resolve problem in classification using integrating k-means clustering and OWA. K-means clustering is a method of clustering and OWA is an aggregation operator. OWA was able to reduce the complexity of experimental data and helpin representing sophisticated relationships between the criteria. Based on the original function of k-means and OWA algorithm used, it is predicted that OWA-based k-means clustering (Cheng et al, 2009) works by modifying some of its stages. In this study, it will be done by modification of OWA-based k-means clustering (Cheng et al, 2009) and validated it in the clustering of iris dataset. This research aims to apply OWA-based k-means clustering in clustering iris data sets for validation and measure accuracy rateof OWA-based k-means clustering in the iris data sets. Resultshowed that accuracy of OWA-based k-means clustering in clustering iris data sets is 96.67%, which was better than k-means clustering method of 89.33%.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the shelf life of reed roots extracts beverages with Accelerated Shelf Life Testing (ASLT) method based on Arrhenius model, the model equations to express the relationship of temperature on the level of product damage. Determining shelf life by using the Accelerated Shelf Life Testing (ASLT) is done by speeding up the process of degradation or reaction in the experiment, namely raising the storage temperature on some level temperature above room temperature, thus speeding up analysis time shelf life. ASLT method used in determining the shelf-life reed roots extracts beverage using the parameter values of acidity (pH) and color (brightness). reed roots extracts beverage stored for 35 days, at a temperature of 20oC, 30oC and 40oC. From the Arrhenius model calculations with values obtained Ea (activation energy) for the parameters pH value of 9010.68 cal/mol, while the color parameters (brightness) of 4110.16 cal/mol, then the parameters used as the basis for determining the shelf life of reed roots extracts beverage is a parameter that has the smallest activation energy value, ie parameter color value (brightness). Shelf life of reed roots extracts beverage estimated  for 44 days at 27oC and 41 days at 30oC.

Abstract

PG. Krebet Baru Malang is a firm that produces sugar. To evaluate productivity, it is necessary to measure it  in the right way and with the proper tool.  The result of this measurement can be a consideration and be one of factor for adding production fasility and workforce that support the firm activity.  The main problem that will be studied in this research are how to measure firm productivity and what plan that should be done so that the firm productivity will raise then.  Method used in this study is Objective Matrix (OMAX). Following is the procedure of OMAX: 1) to determine criteria of how to improve productivity, 2) to determine performance ratio, productivity objective, scoring, assesment and weighting 3) evaluation, and 4) planning for the future.  This study rusults productivity or PG Krebet Baru: 1,67(2006), 5,85 (2007) with index 250,28. In 2008 2,33 with index -60,17.  In 2009 it raises to be 2,66 with index 14,16. The material productivity gives the largest contribution in the firm productivity measurement (2007). The decline of the firm productivity (2008) caused by the decline of the using of material and the length of the milling day.  The firm productivity is rise in 2009. This increment was caused by the improvement of machine productivity.  Some plannings of how to raise the firm productivity are: the usage of raw material, time of machine operated, and the length of milling day to get 5  score of productivity.

Abstract

Leacheate could be defined as a liquid from the biological decomposition of decomposed waste that caused by external water that flowing in into the pile of waste. Leacheate caused by a prescipitation liquid into the Final Disposal, both from the rain infiltration or from the water content of the waste itself. Leachate is toxic due to impurities in the deposits that may be derived from industrial waste disposal, dust, the result of processing waste, household hazardous waste, or from the normal decomposition that occurs in trash. If the problem doesnt solved then the landfill that fille with leacheate could contamine the environment and more specific it would contamine ground water and surface water. The results of this study showed the levels of chromium (Cr) was at 0.3892 mg / l and the result treatment that have the most decreasing rate of chromium is at 0.1751 mg / l, while the result for Lead (Pb) is at 2.2923 mg / l and the average result treatment with the best decreasing rate is 0.3940 mg / l at the retention time of 3 weeks. Selection of the best treatment is based on qualitative parameters of wastewater, which is allowed according to the waste quality standard set by the government and different residence time in combinatiaon treatment. Selection of the best treatment P1Z2 give the average Cr content of the smallest since the levels of Cr on initial observation and after treatment P and Z has decreased significantly. And also on treatment P2Z2 give the decreasing rate for the smallest Pb. Pb is a levels at the beginning of the observation and treatment after being given P and Z. Both of these treatments can be interpreted that the treatment effect on levels of Cr and Pb.

Abstract

Choosing right raw material supplier(s) is essential to reassure raw material of good quality. There are several approcahes being used for supplier selection, including method of selection and evaluation system, and models. This study aimed at evaluating and developing raw material supplier selection method in PR Pahala, Sidoarjo, Indonesia, a cigarrette company. The model used in this study was QCDFR (Quality, Cost, Delivery, Flexibility, Responsiveness) model. Several stages employed during development of the model were: establishing criterion, performance indicator of supplier of each criterion, alternative, criterion weight, performance indicator of supplier alternative and, making of spread sheet and reporting of evaluation election of supplier. There are several main suppliers of dried tobacco to be evaluated in this study, which come from four different areas, namely Madura, Bondowoso, Tulungagung, and Malang. The model developed should be able to assisst the company in the supplier selection to achieve supplier of the best performance. The most important criterion factor of supplier selection in PR Pahala is criterion of quality which had highest weight of 0,373, followed by cost of 0,266, criterion of responsivenessof 0,156, criterion of delivery of 0,128, criterion of flexibility of 0,077. Moreover, weight of selection alternative according to area were Madura with 0,311, Tulungagung 0,234, Bondowoso 0,253, Malang 0,202.

Abstract

The very large numbers of trash in the TPA (end disposal place) will cause the natural decomposition process goes on massively as well. The decomposition process will change trash into organic fertilizer that if there any water input from the outside, it will dissolve metals that later become the byproduct that is leachate. The introduction of chemical contained in the leachate into the waters ecosystem may also affect the existing biota. Therefore, it is need the waste treatment before released into the environment. Leachate waste treatment by using the phytoremediation principle by means of Bambu air plant (Equisetum hyemale), with zeolite planting media was to be the choice in the effort of liquid waste treatment the Phytoremediation system was taken with a various considerations that very potential to develop into new innovation in the process of leachate waste treatment. This research had the purpose to know the effectiveness of phytoremediation system using water bamboo plant (Equisetum hyemale) and zeolit planting media by batch system and continue system in reducing Pb and Cr heavy metals contents of leachate. Research method used was the experimental method. Observations carried out involved environmental temperature and humidity, solution pH and treatment temperature, Reduction of Pb and Cr Metals Contents on leachate.Batch system and continue system as a whole, mean of leachate pH tested during this treatment was about 7,466. Leachate pH tested did not less than 7,200 and not more that 7,810. Mean of leachate temperature from the first week through third week was of 22,283°C. The best treatment was on the K2S1 (60 batch system plants) treatment with reduction of Pb metal content of 82,2% in the last week of observation. While the reduction of Cr metal of 61,2% was on the K2S2 (60 continue system plants) treatment.

Abstract

Potato chips are one of the main products of Batu city. Based on data from Batu government’s  in 2002, there are only 2 selling units. In 2008, amount of potato chips   and another selling unit, so the research on positioning of potato chips in Batu city is important to do. The purpose of this research are to understand which attributes which influence custumer consideration to buy and to consume potato chips, and to analyze positioning which is formed between four potato chips brand (Cita Mandiri, Gizi Food, Leo, Rimbaku) based on costumer perception in Batu city by using Multi Dimensional Scaling method. Attributes that influence costumer to buy and to consume potato chips are product (taste and crunchy level), price (product price compare with quality, and considerable price products), distribution (the local stock of the products or how strategic is the selling location), promotion (the using of advertising or promotion media (such as internet, radio, or brochure)). Based on the Multi Dimensional Scaling Method, positioning follow this structure are Gizi Food as market leader, Leo as market challenger, and Rimbaku and Cita Mandiri as market follower.
