Abstract

This study was motivated by the low learning outcomes of students in the Madurese language, particularly in mastering vocabulary and understanding narrative texts. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the Wordwall educational game on the Madurese learning outcomes of fifth-grade students at UPTD SDN Tanjung Jati 2. This study applied a quantitative approach with a one-group pretest-posttest design. The research subjects consisted of 18 fifth-grade students. Data were collected through tests (pretest and posttest) and observation sheets of learning implementation. The hypothesis was tested using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test, which obtained a significance value of 0.001 0.05, indicating that the alternative hypothesis was accepted. The results showed that the use of Wordwall had a significant effect on students' Madurese learning outcomes. The media proved to be effective in improving learning outcomes as well as creating a more interactive, enjoyable, and engaging classroom atmosphere.

Abstract

Education management is strategically important not only for cognitive transfer but also for cultivating students' moral character, especially in addressing current educational practices that often overlook the axiological dimension (values related to goodness, ethics, and humanity). This study aims (1) to comprehensively describe the form and role of axiological values in character-based education management; (2) to analyze the application of these values in managerial practices, including policy planning, implementation, and evaluation; and (3) to formulate a conceptual model for the sustainable application of axiological values to strengthen character-based education management. This research employed a qualitative method with a descriptive-philosophical approach to profoundly understand the relationship between values, morals, and educational managerial practices. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, documentation study, and literature review. The findings indicate that the application of axiological values encompasses three core domains: the institutional value foundation (e.g., religiosity, honesty, responsibility), managerial implementation (e.g., democratic and humanistic leadership), and the formation of a character-based organizational culture (inclusive and collaborative). Philosophical reflection confirms that these values serve as an ethical compass in managerial decision-making, enhancing individual morality and strengthening institutional effectiveness. In conclusion, the research confirms the strategic importance of integrating axiological values to create a system that is not only functionally effective but also humanistic, moral, and sustainable, contributing a conceptual model for future education development.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the scientific literacy skills of elementary school students in learning Natural and Social Sciences (IPAS) with a focus on four indicators, which are understanding basic scientific concepts (content knowledge), critical thinking and inquiry skills (scientific inquiry), the ability to apply scientific concepts in a social context (contextual application), and scientific attitudes. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with data collection techniques through observation, interviews, and documentation. Observations were conducted to observe learning activities, while interviews were conducted with teachers and principals to find out their responses regarding students' scientific literacy. The results of the study indicate that students' understanding of basic scientific concepts is quite good, especially when learning uses a practical approach and is based on the context of everyday life. Students' critical thinking and inquiry skills still need to be improved, especially in terms of asking questions and formulating hypotheses. Students' ability to apply scientific concepts to a social context shows positive results, especially through project activities that are relevant to the surrounding environment. Students' scientific attitudes, such as curiosity, are starting to develop, but attitudes of accuracy and precision still require further development. The conclusion of this study is that elementary school students' scientific literacy can be improved through inquiry-based learning methods, projects, and experiments involving real-life contexts and active guidance from teachers. This study recommends strengthening learning programs that encourage critical thinking, scientific attitudes, and the application of science in everyday life.
