Abstract

Timeliness is the availability of information for decision makers at the right time so that it can infl uence the stakeholders’ decisions. The aim of this study is to examine the effect of fi nancial and non-financial factors on the timeliness of the submission of company annual fi nancial statements. The population consists of manufacturing companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange 2012-2016. A sample of 243 companies were obtained using a Purposive sampling method. The data processed by suing SPSS version 23 with descriptive analysis and multiple linear regression analysis. Based on the results of this study, the variables of independent board of commissioners and profi tability have a signifi cant effect on the timeliness of the submission of company annual fi nancial statements, while the variables of public ownership, institutional ownership, audit tenure, leverage, and fi rm size have no signifi cant effect on the timeliness of the submission of company annual fi nancial statements.

Abstract

Internet Financial Reporting is the disclosure of company’s financial and non-financial information through the company's official website. The format commonly used includes HTML, PDF, XBRL, audio and video. This study aims to examine the effect of firm size, leverage, listing age, profitability, and liquidity on the Internet Financial Reporting. The population in this study is banking sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) period 2016. The sampling technique used is purposive sampling with SPSS 23, software. The results of this study show that firm size and leverage have an effect on Internet Financial Reporting, but listing age, profitability, and liquidity have no effect on Internet Financial Reporting.

Abstract

Tax is one of the largest revenues the state has and it is compulsory for both citizens and companies to pay to the state. The collected funds are used by the state to build state infrastructure and others. However, not all individuals or companies are willing to pay tax voluntarily. Some taxpayers even carry out tax avoidance. There are many factors that may affect tax avoidance practices, such as institutional ownership, gender diversity on board of directors, audit committee, and fi rm size. This study aims to determine the effect of institutional ownership, gender diversity on board of directors, audit committee and fi rm size on tax avoidance by using current effective tax rate approach and SPSS test tool version 22. The sample consists of 568 banking sector companies in Southeast Asia and they are listed on Orbis that publish fi nancial statements in English, gain profi t, and pay taxes in the research period. Based on the research results, it is found that institutional ownership has a signifi cant effect on tax avoidance. Likewise, audit committee and fi rm size also have a signifi cant effect on tax avoidance. However, gender diversity on board of directors has no signifi cant effect on tax avoidance.

Abstract

Academic fraud is a bad habit done by students, particularly the college students. This bad habit includes cheating, opening the answer key during the test, or involving teamwork on individual homework. This academic fraud occurs because of several factors. This research aims to analyze the factors that influence academic fraud consisting of fraud triangle dimensions (pressure, opportunity, and rationalization), self-efficacy, and religiosity. Respondents of this research are the accounting students at STIE Perbanas, Surabaya. Respondents were collected using convenience sampling method. This research is a quantitative research conducted using a multiple regression analysis. The results of this research show that the variables of pressure and rationalization have an effect on academic fraud, while the variables of opportunity, self-efficacy, and religiosity have no effect on academic fraud.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine and analyze factors that influence tax avoidance and firm value. The independent variables used in this study are audit quality and profitability, while the dependent variable is firm value, and the intervening variable is tax avoidance. The sample used in this study is banking sector companies in Southeast Asia that listed in www.orbis.bvdinfo.com for the period 2014-2016. The technique of data analysis used in this study is multiple regression analysis with SPSS 22.0 For Windows Program and path analysis. The results of this study show that audit quality has no influence on tax avoidance, but profitability has influence to tax avoidance. Audit quality, profitability, and tax avoidance have influence on firm value, while tax avoidance cannot mediate the influence of audit quality and profitability on firm value.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of corporate social responsibility (CSR) and ownership structure towardfirm value. The independent variable thatused in this study are corporate social responsibility (CSR), institutional ownership, managerial ownership and foreign ownership. The dependent variable that used in this study is firm value which measured by Price to Book Value (PBV) ratio. The sample of this study were taken from several food and beverages companies in Shoutheast Asia that registered in www.orbis.bvdinfo.com which published annual report and annual stock data in 2014-2016.A multiple regression analysis with SPSS 22.0 For Windows was used as the technique data analysis. The result of this study explain that corporate social responsibility (CSR), institutional ownership and managerial ownership have influence to firm value, while foreign ownership does not have influence to firm value.

Abstract

Every company is defi nitely at fi nancial risk or operational risk. In a uncertain econimic situation, risk management is one of the ways to reduce and deal with the possible risk faced by the company. This research aims to analyze the effect of public ownership, risk management committee, bank size, leverage and the board of commissioners on the disclosure of risk management. The population used in this study is secondary data derived from annual reports of conventional banking companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX), period 2011-2015. A sample of 35 companies is obtained through purposive sampling method. The statistical method used is regression analysis. Hypothesis test is conducted by t test and F test. The results of this study show that (1) public ownership has no effect on risk management disclosure, (2) risk management committe has an effect on risk management discolsure, (3) bank size has no effect on risk management disclosure, (4) leverage has an effect disclosure risk management, (5) the board of commissioners has an effect on risk management disclosure.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to fi nd out the impact of mental accounting on tax evasion decisions. This research is a quantitative research using experimental research methods. Analysis was conducted using 2x3 between subjects experimental design. The sample used in this experiment was accounting students at Trunojoyo University, Madura, with concentration on taxation. The results for all treatments in this study indicate that there are no differences between in gain scenario and loss scenario. These fi ndings can be explained by mental accounting and prospect theory. This study shows that individuals evaluate tax payments and tax refunds asymmetrically. In addition, the individuals also underlie mental accounting when making tax evasion decisions.

Abstract

Fraud is difficult to detect because the doer attempts to cover up this unethical activity. The lack of experience in detecting fraud is one factor why the auditor could not predict any fraud. Whistle-blowing system could be the light to reveal the fraud in organization. This research is to socialize and educate the students that if there are fraud activities to be reported (whistle-blowing), they must consider some factors such as; personal cost effect, anticipatory socialization, and gender. The population of this research is Bachelor degree students of Accounting. The sampling method used is Convenience Sampling with 86 respondents of Bachelor’s degree students of Accounting chosen as the research sample. This research is classified in quantitative research with primary data source using ques-tionnaire measured with Likert scale. The analysis methods used are validity test, relia-bility test, classical assumption test, hypothesis test, and multiple linear analyses. The result indicates that (1) personal cost has a significant influence on whistle-blowing intention, (2) anticipatory socialization has a significant influence on whistle-blowing intention, and (3) gender has a significant influence on whistle-blowing intention.

Abstract

Green banking is a banking decision to provide banking programs or services to the only customers who consider about environmental and social impacts. The purposes of this study are to obtain empirical evidence that PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk has implemented green banking and to find out the relationship between the implementation of green banking and the efficiency of operational cost in PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk in the period of 2014 – 2016. This study is a qualitative research, which uses case study method for research method. The result of this study shows that BRI Kertajaya Surabaya Branch has not officially implemented green banking yet. The policy is only limited to the use of paperless program. However, based on the efficiency that is counted with operating costs and operating income (BOPO), the bank is included in a category of efficient.
