Abstract

Cheese is a food product with milk-based ingredients, but the processing it requires high production costs due to the big cost of the rennet enzyme as a coaugulant, so it necessary to find an alternative to the rennet enzyme, namely the protease enzyme from the biduri plant. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding biduri leaf juice on the physicochemical characteristics of soft cheese. This research method, which uses a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 3 preparations and 5 replications. The additions of biduri leaf juice with different levels of 1,5%; 2% and 2,5%(v/v). The result showed that the curd production was around 19,50-29,56%, the resulting whey release was 62,40-66,70, the pH value was 6.62-6,82, the lactic acid content was 0,43-0,67 and color value of soft cheese 2,50 (green)-4,70 (white), aroma value 3,00 (slightly cheese flavored)-3,30 (slightly cheese flavored), taste value 4,30 (moderately bitter)-5,00 (not bitter), texture value 3,50 (quit denset)-4,50 (slightly mushy) and level of preference 2,70 (somewhat like)-3,80 (like). The addition of biduri leaf juice as much 2% in cheese processing gives the best cheese yield and the result is formation of curd 24,03%; whey release 66,10; pH 6,76; lactic acid content 0,52%. The result of the assessment of soft cheese with addition of 2% biduri leaf juice had a color value of 3,00 (slightly green), an aroma value of 3,00 (slightly cheese flavored), a taste value of 5,00 (not bitter), a texture value of 4,20 (quite dense) and preference level of 3,70 (like).

Abstract

This study aims to compare the differences in seed density and the addition of AB mix as a source of nutrition on the productivity of unhulled rice green fodder. Green fodder was grown by hydroponic using fodder trays. The variables measured were biomass production, conversion of green fodder to seeds and plant height. The experimental design used was a 2 x 2 factorial design with treatment factors is the differences in seed density (150 g/container and 250 g/container) and nutrition (without AB mix immersion and AB mix immersion). The results showed that biomass production and green fodder conversion were significantly (p<0.05) affected by seed density. Total biomass and green fodder conversion increased with increasing seed density. Seed densities of up to 250 grams per container produce the highest biomass weight with high conversion of seeds to green fodder. Soaking seeds using AB mix had no effect on biomass weight, conversion, and plant height. However, immersion using AB mix produces plant heights that tend to be taller.

Abstract

Quail is a bird that has a medium body size and is relatively unable to fly like other birds. Increasing the quail population must be balanced with good maintenance management, especially during the growth phase. An alternative to improve growth performance is to provide feed additives in the ration, one of which is dayak onion bulbs. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of giving dayak onion flour (Eleutherine palmifolia, (L) Merr) as a feed additive on the growth performance of quail (Coturnix-coturnix japonica). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 5 replications, each treatment consisting of 7 quails so that the total number of quails was 175. The treatments used in this study were commercial feed (PK) and dayak onion flour (TUBD) consisting of P0 (100% PK), P1 (100% PK + 1% TUBD), P2 (100% PK + 2% TUBD ), P3 (100% PK + 3% TUBD), and P4 (100% PK + 4% TUBD). Parameters observed were feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, weight of first laying eggs. The results of the analysis of variance (Anova) showed that the administration of dayak onion bulb flour had no significant effect (P>0.05) on the growth performance of quail including feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, weight of first laying brood. The results showed that the highest feed consumption occurred at P0 (100% PK) = 115.90 gram/head/week; highest body weight gain occurred at P2 (100% PK + 2% TUBD) = 22.70 gram/head/week, the lowest feed conversion occurred at P4 (100% PK + 4% TUBD) = 5.28, and body weight 123 .4 grams/head. Giving dayak onion Flour (TUBD) to improve quail growth performance on feed consumption, body weight gain, feed conversion, and first egg laying weight did not have a significant effect.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the quality of frozen semen of Bali cattle at different thawing times at the Department of Agriculture of the Province of Gorontalo. The observed variables were motility, viability and abnormalities of spermatozoa which were thawed at 30°C for 8, 10 and 12 seconds. The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA If there are differences of opinion, proceed with testing the Least Significant Difference with the help of SPSS 21 Software. The results showed that a thawing time of 10 resulted in better motility and viability and a lower level of abnormality at 30°C. The thawing time of 10 at a temperature of 30°C can still be used for the purpose of implementing AI in the field because the quality of frozen cement produced by Bali cattle can still be maintained.

Abstract

This study aims to predict the egg volume of Alabio ducks based on the Westerskov (1950) model by finding the volume coefficient (Kv) based on the length and width of the eggs and validating the accuracy of the model obtained with the actual volume. This study uses a quantitative observation method based on the Westerskov model (1950) with the equation: V = Kv×P×L2, to predict volume in duck eggs Alabio. This study was divided into two stages, namely the first stage of Model Development using 350 Alabio duck eggs to find the Kv value by dividing the actual volume value of the eggs by the product of the length and width of the eggs that have been measured. The second stage is Model Validation using 150 eggs to validate the formula obtained in the first stage. The Kv value obtained in the first stage was applied to estimate the volume of 150 eggs using the Westerskov (1950) model. The predicted volume value of the 150 eggs obtained is then compared with the actual volume of the 150 eggs. The model obtained was then validated with the values of Mean Bias, Modeling Efficiency (MEF), Root Mean Squared Error of Prediction (RMSEP), and Concordance Correlation Coefficient (CCC). Based on the analysis results, the Kv value obtained to predict the egg volume of Alabio ducks is 0.48, so the mathematical model is ???? = 0.48×P×L2. The validation results show that the model is feasible to use (MEF=0.68) with a high level of accuracy (CCC=0.84).
