Abstract

This study focuses on factors which influenced the implementation of Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) at Food, Beverage and Herbal Small Medium Enterprise (SME) in Surabaya. The study also focuses on the effect of the implementation of AMT on the SME performance. Previous research shows that there are several factors that affect the implementation of AMT in SME, such are characteristics of the organization, monitoring and strategic alliances. This study was viewed from the owner of the SME food, beverage and herbs in Surabaya. The numbers of respondents of this study are 63 respondents. Tests and analyzes were performed using SmartPls program. The analysis shows that the characteristics of the organization, monitoring and strategic alliances affect the implementation of AMT. The results of the analysis also showed that the implementation of the AMT affects the performance of SME.

Abstract

C & B department of PT. X always do continuous improvement as de­part­ment priority. One of the improvement that will be done is simplifying the uniform pro­vision process. The study focused on the provision of an annual uniform. The study be­gins with understanding the stages in annual uniform process. Method that have been used are making a comparison between actual and target time of uniform timeline, ma­king SIPOC charts, and analyzing value added or non-value added activities. Some im­provement suggestions are given in order to support the simplification of the process and re­duce or eliminate non-value added activities. The results of the improvement imple­men­tation is saving the provision time by 5.19 hours or 2 supporting resources.

Abstract

PT. X wants to reduce their flow out, because their flow out rate is bigger than the target. Flow out is a condition where the reject product slip away to customer or the next process. The purpose of this research is identifying flow out’s root cause and giving some improvement suggestions. Fishbone Diagram is used to identify the root cause. FMEA and Pareto chart are used to make improvement priority. The improvements are prioritized in man and machine aspect. The root cause from machine aspect are tooling utilizing and machine performance, meanwhile the root cause from man aspect are technician control and the selector’s inspection. The solutions given are doing the tooling stock opname and giving the workers continual training.
