Abstract

This experiment was carried out to determine the efficiency of inorganic fertilizer in the main nursery of oil palm with the application of empty fruit bunches and the addition of local microorganisms (MOL) Mucuna bracteata. The experiment was conducted by using a factorial design, arranged in a completely randomized design with three replications. The first factor was the dose of inorganic fertilizer (100%, 75%, 50%, 25% ), the second factors was dose of empty fruit bunhes (efb) compost (0%, 15%, 30%, 45% by volume), and the third factor was concentration of local microorganisms (MOL) M. bracteata (no,5%,10%). The results showed that the application of 25% inorganic fertilizer in the main nursery provide of oil palm seedling growth equal to 100% inorganic fertilizers. The application of 15% oil palm empty fruit bunches compost in the main nursery of regosol soil can replace inorganic fertilizer. Granting MOL Mucuna bracteata with a concentration of 5% to 10% have not been able to increase the growth of oil palm seedlings in the main nursery. Granting of oil palm empty fruit bunches can increase inorganic fertilization efficiency in the main nursery of oil palm. Keywords: fertilizer, efb, MOL, oil palm seedlings, main nursery

Abstract

Field experiments to study "Organic Fertilizer Dose Variations on Three Sweet Sorghum Varieties on Growth and Yield of Sorghum for Ethanol" aimed to 1). Examines the interaction between wide varieties of sweet sorghum with a dose of organic fertilizer. 2). Determine an appropriate dose of organic fertilizer for growing sweet sorghum. 3). Determine the sweet sorghum varieties in response to the dose of organic fertilizer. Research conducted at the Experimental station, Faculty of Agriculture UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta; using a split plot design with three replications and Research Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta. The main plots varieties were: V1: Patir-3, V2: Samurai-2, and V3: Mandau and as subplot were dose of organic fertilizer: D1 = 20 g / plant; D2 = 40 g / plant; and D3 = 60 g / plant. The results showed that: (1) There was interaction between varieties with a dose of organic fertilizer on sorghum stalks weighting parameter. Each of sweet sorghum varieties gave different looks on any given dose of organic fertilizer. (2) Treatment varieties showed real effect on plant height parameter 8 mst, leaf number 8 mst, panicle length, sorghum stalk length, weight of 100 seeds, sorghum stem juice volume and juice sweetness level. Keywords: fertilizers, sweet sorghum varieties, bioethanol

Abstract

The aim of this research was to determine the interactions between jajar legowo planting system and variations of fertilization on the growth and yield of bestari rice varieties. The research was conducted in Sentono, Karangdowo District, Klaten regency, Central Java. Research started in April to August 2016. The study uses factorial design with two factors. The first factor was the variation of fertilization that consists of three levels, namely: P1 was the dosage recommendation in the form of chemical fertilizer application which was Phonska 600 kg / ha, P2 = 50% chemical fertilizer dosage recommendation plus 10 ton / ha of BATAN’s organic fertilizer products; P3 = 50% chemical fertilizer dosage recommendation plus 10 ton / ha of organic compost product of the Faculty of Agriculture UPN "Veteran" Yogyakarta. The second factor was the variation of jajar legowo planting system, namely: J1 = 2:1, J2 = 3:1, J3 = 4:1. Each treatment was repeated 3 times and 3 samples per plot, 27 experimental plots in the size of 4 m x 4 m with plant space of 12,5cm x 25 cm x 50 cm. Based on further analysis of variance with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) with a level of 5%, it showed that there was no interaction between jajar legowo planting system and fertilizing variation on all parameters of growth and yield. J1 which produced average number of tillers, leaf number, grain weight per hill best grain meanwhile it has the biggest grain weight per hill so it reduce the amount of yield. P2 has the highest tiller number meanwhile it has the biggest grain weight per hill so it reduce the amount of yield. Dominant weeds before planting is Leersia hexandra swartz (NJD 28.98%), dominant weed in almost all experimental plots at age 21 DAP Panicum repens and 42 DAP is Echinocloa colonum. Keywords: bestari, weeds, jajar legowo, fertilization variations

Abstract

Candlenut is an important plant which has the potential to produce biofuels. Therefore, it is necessary to create a technological innovation in the cultivation of this plant in order to obtain a good vegetative growth. Thus, the generative growth become well and the plant become productive by giving chitosan, an organic fertilizer made from natural ingredients derived from shrimp shells which is processed by radiation technology to produce useful agriculture products. The aim of this research was to determine the interactions between method and frequency of Chitosan application. To factors Randomized Block Design was used as methods in this research. The first factor was Application methods of Chitosan (Pouring around near the roots, Spray to the leaves, and spray onto the stem ). The second factor was Frequency of chitosan application ( three, four and five times). As a comparation was without chitosan treatment. The result showed that there was no interaction between the treatment method and the frequency of chitosan distribution towards the vegetative growth of Reutealis trisperma (Blanco). When chitosan was sprayed onto the leaves, it gives better effect than pouring around near the roots and sprayed onto the stem. The frequency of chitosan application for three times was the best one. Plants that were treated with chitosan have better vegetative growth than those without chitosan treatment. Keywords: Candlenut, chitosan, vegetative growth
