Abstract

This study described and examined on the current English language learning strategies used by Indonesian Students English Education Department enrolled at State Islamic University of Sultan SyarifKasim Riau in Indonesia. The subjects of the study were (99) male and female students still studying for their Undergraduate degree in English Education Department. The study investigates the frequency of strategies use among these students according to gender and proficiency variables. Proficiency is reflected by students’ learning level (i.e., sophomore, junior, senior), self-reported proficiency in English (i.e., the students’ university average in English courses) and language self-efficacy (i.e,. how good the students perceived themselves as English learners). The collecting data used Questionnaire adopted from Oxford (1990a), Mohammad Amin Embi (1996) danPolitzer (1993), interview lecturers about the language learning strategies used by students. The results of this study showed that State Islamic University of Sultan SyarifKasim, English Education Department used learning strategies with high to medium frequency, and that the highest rank (79.6%) was for Metacognitive strategies while the lowest (63%) was for compensation strategies and the others used cognitive, memory, affective and social. In general, the results showed that gender and proficiency had no significant differences on the use of strategies. Based on these findings, the researcher recommends that more training should be given in using Cognitive, Memory, Affective, social and Compensation strategies by embedding them into regular classroom activities or teaching and learning process

Abstract

Bullying has become a serious problem in schools and occurs in all countries. The purpose of this study is to see the tendency of children to be actors and victims of bullying in terms of quality of attachment with working mothers. The subjects were 336 students (175 male and 161 female) who have working mothers. The results showed that students who have a low quality of attachment with the mother who works has the tendency to be actors and victims of bullying than students who have a high attachment quality. Students in higher classes tend to bullying than students in lower grade, and boys were also higher tendency to bullying than girls. For mothers working hours, there was no difference in bullying behavior. While the tendency to be a victim, there is no difference based on class and gender. However, mothers who have longer working hours make children easily become victims of bullying

Abstract

This study aims to determine the background of women or housewives worked as a cleaning service at UIN Suska Riau and to determine the pattern of family financial management of women or housewives who worked as a cleaning service at UIN Suska Riau. The study was conducted at UIN Suska Riau with the object of research is a housewife who works as a cleaning service at UIN Suska Riau. Data collection techniques used are in-depth interviews with data analysis techniques using qualitative analysis. The results showed that the reason women or housewives worked as a cleaning service at UIN Suska Riau is due to the social and economic aspects. In managing the family finances, respondent does not meet the criteria of good management, because the proper management must meet the following stages, namely stages of planning, implementation, and assessment stages or controlling. However, in the family housewives of new cleaning service only carry out planning stages, while implementing and controlling have not been implemented properly

Abstract

The article will discuss various viewpoints on the issues affecting women in Islam, and how they influence the views regarding women education. Their views generally can be divided into conservative, progressive and philosophical. All these views, in general, regard that like men, women are obliged to search for knowledge. In Indonesia, since the 19th century, women have already been involved in learning religion. However, for some cultural reasons, in this period, the access for women to modern education was still limited. On the other hand, from the 20th century up to now, like male Muslims, Indonesian female Muslim have more opportunies in education. Moreover, the symbolic-philosophy of complementary relations between male and female can also become an alternative to conservative or liberal philosophy of education

Abstract

This study was conducted at three sites of the modern market, in District Tampan and Payung Sekaki. The purpose of the study was to determine the characteristics and socio-economic conditions of the mother-housewife who buy organic vegetable products in the modern market Pekanbaru, and seek and reduce exploratory factor that can explain the influence of purchasing intentions housewife to organic vegetables. This study tested simultaneously and partially of predictor variables were examined to the intention to buy organic vegetable products in accordance with the design of the model. Descriptive quantitative research method is using factor analysis and path analysis. The study was conducted by a survey and interviews with respondents using questionnaires. Sampling was done by the method of accidental sampling a number of 103 respondents each of 3 modern market. The results showed all hypothesis is accepted. The main factors that influence the cost of the purchase of vegetables, the age of the buyer, the number of family members buyers, and home ownership, then the second factor of the level of education and the third factor the amount of consumption of vegetables. Knowledge of organic crops have a positive and significant impact on the attitude of the organic vegetables. Variable value of the natural orientation and attitude to the intention to buy organic vegetables have validity and reliability of the positive value. Organic Knowledge also has a positive and significant impact on the attitude of organic vegetables. Attitudes on organic vegetables also have a positive and significant impact on the purchasing intentions of organic vegetables

Abstract

Education is an activity that is carried out in the community with the goal of humanizing. Formal education is a means for socialization and transfer of values and norms prevailing in society, including the values and norms of gender. There was a lot of gender inequalities in society that arises because there is a gender bias in education including religious education. Based on the search turns gender inequality in education is not because of the substance of religion, but rather the interpretation misunderstood an original source of religion (Islam), thus the need reintepretasi religious understanding of gender bias is continuous, improve education curriculum that eliminates dichotomous between men and women, and provide higher learning opportunities to women

Abstract

Currently women, not only serves as a housewife who serves her husband, children, and all members of her family, but many women have other jobs besides housework. Some women no longer be the primary educators for children the next generation, because they have to do quite time consuming job outside the home. As a result, many emerging daycare to address the problem of child care that his/her mother worked. This was triggered by the emancipation of women and the social and economic demands of the household is quite heavy encourage women to earn a living to supplement the family income in order to achieve the welfare of the family. This study aims to determine the factors that motivate women to work and to find out how much revenue contribution of women to the family income. To achieve these objectives, the research done by using three (3) independent variables, namely Women’s income (X1), Working Time Allocation (X2), and Total Dependent in the Family (X3). Analysis of the data used in this research is descriptive and quantitative analysis, using the tool SPSS windows version 22, with multiple linear regression analysis, F test (Test Simultaneous), t test (Partial Test), and the Determination Test (R2). The result shows that the two independent variables (Women’s Income, and Total Dependents in the familyhave significant effect on the dependent variable (Contributions of Women in Family Income (Y)). While the Working Time Allocation variable does not have significant influenceto Contributions of Women in Family Income (Y). in addition, there is a contribution of independent variables (independent) on the dependent variable (dependent) amounted to 60.3%, while the remaining 39.7% is influenced by other variables not examined in this study
