Abstract

Observation results show that mastery of the Virus subject matter on grade X Swadhipa’s student Senior High School in Natar is still low. This research aims to know the influence of the using picture cards media on students learning activities and mastering of the Virus subject matter for students. This research was quasi experimental design with unequivalent pretes postes group. The research samples are grade X1 and X2 which are selected from population by cluster random sampling. This research data is in quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data is obtained from the average of pretes and postes value which is analyzed statistically with t-test at 95% confidence levels using SPSS 17 program. Qualitative data is analyzed by descriptive analysis in percentage value. The research data is obtained from the student activity observation forms, and students' responses on using of flash cards media with NHT model. The research result shows that the average of mastering on subject by group students experiment is greater than control group (experiment = 79,1; control = 70,20). Moreover, the average of increasing the mastery of all observation indicators are greater than class control (experiment = 48,28; control = 43,22). The average of increasing percentage of student activity to all obeservation aspects in class experiment are greater than class control (experiment = 85,18; control = 76,30). In addition, the majority of students give positive response on using of flash cards media. Thus, learning process use flash card media with NHT learning model effects to improve the learning activity and mastery of the Virus subject matter on students.  Keywords: Flash Card, NHT, Learning Activity, Mastering Subject, Virus

Abstract

Critical thinking skills in students XI Grade Science of Senior High School 7 Bandar Lampung not developed. This is because learning process dominated by teacher. One alternative that can be used to make students active in critical thinking is PBL models. The purpose of this study were to determine the effect of PBL models to the students' critical thinking skills. The design was a pretest-posttest non-equivalent. The samples in this study was students of XI Grade Science 2 and 3 where selected with clusster random sampling technique. The data of this study is in quantitative and qualitative data. Quantitative data obtained from the average value of the pretest, posttest, and N-gain statistically analyzed using t-test. Qualitative data taken from student learning activities observation sheet, and then analyzed descriptively.The results showed that the use of PBL models improve students' critical thinking skills with the average pretest score (24.11), posttest (68.95), and N-gain (59.86).Student learning activities that use the models PBL also increased from meeting I with an average of 55.09 to meeting II increased with an average of 69.91, and rise again on third meeting with the average of 80.32. Thus, application of the model PBL influential in improving critical thinking skills by students.Keywords: PBL Models, critical thinking skills, learning activities, and circulatory system.

Abstract

The result of Interviews and observations at SMP Negeri 5 Natar to class VIII students’ learning result in the subject matter of biology digestive system is still low. So we need variety of teaching materials to improve student learning result, an alternative instructional materials to improve learning result is a leaflet. The purpose of this study to determine the effect of the use of instructional materials leaflet with learning model STAD (Student Teams Achievement Division) against the learning result of students in the subject matter of the digestive system. The research design was a pre-test post-test non-equivalent, with random sampling cluster sampling technique. Quantitative data obtained from the average pre-test and post-test data analysis using t-test at 95% confidence level. Qualitative data obtained activity data and the intersting of teaching by materials leaflet.The results showed that there is significant inrease of the students’ learning result in the class that uses the material of instructional leaflet with the average - the average value of N-gain of 46.67. Improved student learning result are also influenced by students' learning activities using cooperative learning model type STAD which increased on average 0.26. Thus the use of teaching materials leaflet with type STAD cooperative learning model significantly affect the improvement of learning result and activities by students on the subject matter of the digestive system

Abstract

Based on observation and interview with biology teacher  students critical thinking skill were not optimally developed yet. The experiment aims to find out the influence of applying pictured card media through NHT cooperative learning model  towards improvement of students critical thinking skill. This  quasi experiment study used  pretest posttest group non equivalent designed. Sample in this experiment are students from X2 and X4  class which obtained from population by cluster random sampling tehnique. Quantitative data  was obtained from   pretest and posttest scores which statistically analyzed with t-test using SPSS version 17 in 95% confidence levels. Qualitative data are student’s learning activities and students responses about applying  pictured card media through cooperative learning model type NHT which descriptively analyzed. Result of this study showed that the average of students critical thinking skill  improve significantly ( eksperimen class="70",64 control = 33,44). The average of student learning activities percentage in all observed aspects in experimental class showed  increased significantly  (eksperimen = 81,69% kontrol = 67,51%). Abstract

Mastery of concepts that are not quite optimal by high school science students of class IX N 2 Metro affected by the lack of proper strategies in the learning process. Strategies that can facilitate student achievement and skill one is mind mapping. Using mind mapping aims to determine students' critical thinking skills. Experimental research design was pretest-posttest form is not equivalent to involve XI IPA1 as the experimental class and control class XI IPA2 as selected by purposive sampling technique. The research data in the form of qualitative data obtained from students 'learning activities are analyzed using an index of students' critical thinking skills and mind mapping products derived from each group discussions and quantitative data obtained from a pretest-posttest were analyzed using t-test. The results showed improvement in the experimental class students' mastery of concepts with an average gain of 64.73 N-higher than the average N-gain the control class is 47.52. The average increase in each indicator of cognitive mastery of concepts by students in the experimental class also higher at 41.27 while the control class is 31.55. Similarly, student learning activities, that the experimental class achieving increased higher activity than the control class. Aspects express opinions / ideas and discuss work on LKS is the highest activity obtained by the students. Based on the achievements that have been disclosed, it can be concluded that the mind mapping is effective in improving students' critical thinking skills. Abstract

The results of interviews with teachers in high school biology class XI Swadhipa Natar, it is known that subjects, especially biology subject matter Digestive System Food is delivered by using the method of discussion. Though this material has special characteristics that examine the mechanisms of complex processes that are difficult to understand, and involve organs that correspond to the structure and function of complex. The purpose of this study is to determine effect of Predict, Observe, Explain And (POE)  learning model  on student’s  learning activities  and mastering  of  Food Digestion System  concepts  of  Swadhipa  high school students. This  a quasi-experimental  strudy  used pretest-posttest  with non-equivalent dsigned. The  sample   were  students of  class   XI IPA2 as the experimental group and class XI IPA1 as a control  which was  selected from the population at random cluster sampling. Data was collected   as  in  percentage form.   The students’ actvities observed consists of five (5)  abilities of predicting, observing, describing, working together, and making conclusion. The study resulted that POE learning model  could enhanced the students’  predicting  ability  up to 20%,  observing ability up to 19%, describing ability up to 24%,  abity to work together up to 22,8%, and  ability of making onferences up to 16%

Abstract

The results showed thatstudents inall aspects ofthe activityobserved in theexperimental classesincreased.In the aspect ofvalue85.71%ask, answeraspectworth89.29%, and theaspects oftheir ideas/ opinionsworth86.90%. Mastery of the material also increased, withan averagevalueof 20pretest,posttestvaluesfor 60andN-gain of 0.09.Questionnairedatashowsthatall students(100%) felt happyandinterested incooperative learning modeltypeTGT.  Key words :TGT, activities, students'mastery of the material.

Abstract

Mastery of material is success rate in achievement destination and target. However the result of observation in class VIII of SMP Negeri 1 Baradatu, known that students learning outcomes is still low. This research has goal to know effectiveness  of the cooperative learning type numbered head together (nht) model to improve mastery of material and the activity of studying of the student.The design of this research is pretest-posttest non equivalent. The sample was students of class VIIID and VIIIE are selected by clusters of random sampling. The data of this research quantitative and qualitative data. Qualitative data got by average value pretest, posttest, and N-gain that analyzed statistically using uji t. Qualitative data is students learning activity, student response toward the use of NHT model that analyzed in descriptive. The result of research showed that effectiveness  of the cooperative learning type NHT to improve mastery get increasing with average value pretest (42,62); postes (80,21); dan N-gain (0,65). students activity all aspects observed in experiment class increasing that is asking aspect  (78,49%); response (79,57%); discussion (91,40%); giving opinion (76,88%), the high number supported by asking quality, response, and students opinion as the subject in growth and development in humans. In addition most of students gave positive response toward the use of  NHT model the data of question form (100%) students get excited and interested in NHT model and make students more active in discussing. Most of students (90,32%) student gave a positive response to toward the use of  NHT model. So, NHT model can  improve mastery of material and the activity of studying of the student.  Keywords: NHT model, mastery of material , activity of studying of the student, growth and development in humans.

Abstract

Learning activity and student material mastery In Junior High School 2 Tulang Bawang Tengah are still low. One of alternative to increase the activity and matter material mastery of the Creatures Growth and Development by students which are Numbered Head Together (NHT) learning model, a learning model that can be increases learning activity even though effecting to students. Experimental design uses pretest posttest non equivalent group. The sample in this study is VIII D as a experimental class and VIII E as a control class which choose by cluster random sampling. The quantitative data is taken from the average of pre-test and post-test point and then analyzed with statistic using T-test by SPSS 17 program. The qualitative data is learning activity student which taken from observation paper as long as learning activity. The result of this study are  showing the application of NHT learning models have a significant impact to increase learning activity and mastery student matter. For seen, N-gain average experiment class is 53,6. The percentage average of student learning activity in experiment class which used NHT learning model are high category 12,91 %. Keywords: NHT  learning model, student learning activity, student matter mastery and material of the Creatures Growth and Development

Abstract

The purpose of this study to determine the effect of the TPS learning model to increase Critical Thinking Skills and students learning activities toward subject matter of Circulatory System at class XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Natar. The research design was pretest-posttest non-equivalent groups. The samples in this study  are the students class XI IPA2 and XI IPA4 randomly selected by purposive sampling technique. Quantitative data obtained from the average value of pretest and posttest were statistically analyzed using u-test. Qualitative data in the form of student activity data during the learning process. The The results showed that the use of TPS learning model there are significant effect improving Critical Thinking Skills students, it’s seen in the experimental class average N-value gain of 47.8 and an average value of N-gain control grade of 21.5 . Then the average yield of all activities of the students stated that activity in the classroom using TPS learning model each meeting higher. It’s can be concluded that the use of the TPS learning Model can improve Critical Thinking Skillsand activities of the student  class XI IPASMA Negeri 1 Natar District, South Lampung toward subject matter of Circulatory System.
