Abstract

This study aimed to describe the implementation of the collaboration of insight, modeling, and classical conditioning technique as the counselor’ strategy in the character building. This was a qualitative phenomenological study. This study was conducted in MA Matholi’ul Anwar Karanggeneng Lamongan.  This study involved students, school counselors, and the school principal. The data were taken through observations and interviews, while the instrument of the data collection was the observation guideline and interview guideline. To analyze the data, this study employed Miles and Huberman model including the data reduction, the data presentation, and the withdrawal of conclusion. This study found that those techniques possess weaknesses and they could complete each other through collaboration. This study proved that the collaboration of insight, modeling, and classical conditioning technique play a role in students’ character building that implies the daily life.

Abstract

This study aimed to understand the effectiveness of the classroom guidance activity for the academic aspect to improve achievement motivation underachiever gifted students in SMA Negeri 4 Bandung. This was an experimental study with pre-experimental design.  The data were collected through achievement motivation scale. The subject of this study was 30 students of class X SMA Negeri 4 Bandung. The sample was taken by using purposive sampling technique. The data analysis technique of this study was paired sample t-test statistical formula.  The result of this study showed that classroom guidance activity for the academic aspect was effective to improve achievement motivation underachiever gifted students. This study generates a new strategy in the form of classroom guidance activity for the academic aspect was effective to improve achievement motivation underachiever gifted students.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the correlation between the big five personality and religiosity and the employee’ subjective well-being in the University Muhammadiyah Malang. This was a correlational study with fifty-five employees as the subject of the study. The data of this study were collected through the big five inventory, religiosity scale, and well-being scale. The data of this study were analyzed by using Spearman correlation non-parametric statistical test and product moment correlation parametric statistical test. The result of this study showed that the big five personality, particularly extraversion, openness and religiosity correlated with the subjective well-being, while agreeableness, conscientiousness, and neuroticism did not correlate with the well-being.  This study found that the more the employee leads to extraversion and openness, the better level of well being they have, and the higher religiosity felt by the employee, the higher well-being they will feel. The result of this study gives an alternative policy for the Institution in increasing the employee’ well-being.  Developing the employee’ religiosity and big five personality can increase the employee’ well-being

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of the reality counseling in developing students’ career decision. This was a one group pretest-posttest quasi-experimental study. The subjects of this study were seven students of 2013 Guidance and Counseling department whose score stability was lower than career decision by using a close-ended questionnaire to collect the data. The data analysis technique of this study was paired t-test. Based on the result of this study, it can be concluded that there was a difference in the students’ stability score of career decision. The pre-treatment score was low, while the post-treatment score was high. It was proven by the result of T-test analysis which p = 0.000 < 0.05 and t count 8,280 > t table = 2,447. It can be concluded that the reality counseling was effective to develop career decision. This study is recomended for the university counselor to reinforce students’ career decision through reality counseling.

Abstract

This study aimed to find out the relationship between the counselor’ interpersonal attractiveness and the students' motivation in participating the group guidance. This was a correlational study. The subject of this study was 246 students of the eleventh grade of state senior high schools in Malang city as the respondents. The subject of this study was taken by cluster random sampling technique. This study employed Pearson product-moment correlational test to analyze the data.  The result of this study showed a positive and significant relationship between the counselor’ interpersonal attractiveness and state senior high school students’ motivation in participating group guidance by (r = 0.622) and (p= 0.000 < 0.05). Higher counselor’ interpersonal attractiveness leads to higher students’ motivation in participating group guidance. This study proved the importance of the counselor’ interpersonal attractiveness in providing group guidance so that the students are highly motivated to participate in group guidance service.

Abstract

This study aimed to understand the effect of group counseling service in increasing students’ learning discipline. This was a quasi-experimental study with non-equivalent control group design. The subjects of this study were eighteen students taken by using purposive sampling technique. This study employed learning discipline rating scale to collect the data, while interviews and documentation were done as the supporting technique. The data analysis technique of this study was independent t-test by separate-variance t-test formula. The result of t-test score calculation by df=18 with the 0.05 significance level was 2.145, and the tcount = 6,652. Since tcount > ttable (6,652 > 2,145), it could be concluded that assertive training can increase the learning discipline on the students of Class X of SMK Trisakti Bandar Lampung. The result of this study provides an alternative solution for school counselor in facing the students who experience learning discipline problem through group counseling service.
