Abstract

Kasepuhan Sinar Resmi are part of the Banten Kidul Indigenous Community with a cultural base of rice in their lives. The settlements are formed from natural, geographic, socio-economic-cultural activities that have spatial characteristics. The spatial peculiarities of the settlement are interesting things to be studied and reveal their physical and philosophical manifestations. With a qualitative descriptive analysis approach, this study aims to identify and describe the characteristics of the Kasepuhan Sinar Resmi housing based on non-physical and physical aspects. The variables studied were: 1) socio-cultural and economic, 2) public activity, 3) natural and geographic conditions, 4) spatial-forming elements of settlements, 5) physical spatial layout, and 6) building typology. The results showed that the character of the settlement was formed based on non-physical aspects in the form of consistency in carrying out the tatali paranti karuhun, as well as respect and obedience to the leaders as regulator of life in kasepuhan. This is the main factor that greatly influences the spatial layout of the Kasepuhan Sinar Resmi’s settlement physically apart from the natural and geographical conditions of the area. The implementation of respect for karuhun is the continuity of the rice culture that has been preserved until now, which is sustainable in all farming activities, and the socio-culture of the kasepuhan community.

Abstract

The heritage area is one of many tourism destinations in the world. Indonesia has many heritage areas that had been known as world cultural heritage sites. The development of heritage areas could be done by the exploration of visitor needs. The main goal of this research is to know about visitor needs and grouping in the heritage areas. The data was collected by distributing questionnaires online. The data analysis method used in this study consisted of three steps, open coding, axial coding, and selective coding. From the results of the correspondence analysis between preferences, perceptions, desire to revisit, activities, and partner there are three groups were found, namely will revisit, hesitate to revisit, and will not revisit. The “will revisit” group who not only care about cultural heritage but also other attributes, have various activities, and visit groups or individuals. The “hesitate” group prioritize visual quality and facilities, engage in educational, sporting, or recreational activities, and are more likely to visit with friends. Last one, the “will not revisit” group who felt that they did not fit the atmosphere in the historical area, work in this area, and come with a partner.

Abstract

The existence of a dining room is now rarely found in some residences. Some people who do not have a dining room will be forced to use a room to carry out eating activities. In comparison, other people use the dining room to do other activities. It shows that the existence of space reflects the behaviour of the occupants in living. This study will compare community activities with residential conditions with a dining room and those without a dining room. This study aims to reveal the differences and activities most often carried out in the two conditions. Then all these activities will be classified based on the theory of affordance. This research method uses a sequential mixed-method approach by distributing online questionnaires. The data collected were analyzed using principal component analysis and analysis of the mean latent variables to find the most dominant variable. Based on the study results, the most dominant activity carried out in residential areas that have a dining room is only eating activities. Meanwhile, residential areas that do not have a dining room include learning, working, relaxing and household activities.
