Abstract

This journal point on the analysis of history in “Kite Runner” novel by Khaled Hosseini in 2003. Many countries ever happened civil war, then the author pour it into literary work, it likes Afghanistan civil war in this novel. The story in this novel told about the beauty of Kabul was replaced by disturbance of the conflict that destroyed Afghanistan. Furthermore, the object of the research is history of Afghanistan civil war in “Kita Runner” novel by Hosseini in 2003 viewed from H. A. Taine phrase. As basic concept and framework thinking, the researcher used elements of race, milieu and moment from historical approach purposed by Taine in Guerin et al (2005). Qualitative descriptive method used as method presenting result, also used primary and secondary data as method to collect data. The researcher found that Afghanistan civil war in this novel is real history occurred in Afghanistan from 1978 until present. From the analysis, it can be concluded the novel of “Kita Runner” by Khaled Hosseini in 2003 is compatible to analyze by used historical approach.

Abstract

The aim of study was to find out the effect of KWL strategy towards students’ motivation and writing achievement, as well as its correlation between them.This study applied quantitatif method with experimental study type. The technique of collecting the data of the study was using Pre-test and Post-test: the test was return test and oral test. And the data analysis technique used median, mode and mean to find the coralation between students’ motivation and writing skills. based on the explanation above, the researcher concluded that know, want to learn there was any effect towards students motivation and writing achievement. Based on the data analysis, the researcher found that the result of test using ANCOVA were accepted because the result of test by used application of SPSS 24 was F-test= 14. 972 higher than F-table = 4. 09 and sig. 0,000 lower than score of alpha 0,05. This meant that the null hypothesis (Ho) which said, “KWL strategy has no positive influenced towards students’ motivation and writing achievement.” was rejected, while the alternative hypothesis (Ha) which said, “KWL strategy has positive influenced towards student Motivation and Writing Achievement” was accepted.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the implementation of Arabic language learning, teaching staffs, curriculum planning, and the Arabic language learning evaluation. This study was a field research with descriptive qualitative analysis, and a phenomenological approach. The data was collected through observation, interview, and documentation. To test the validity of the study, triangulation. The result of the study showed that; First, the process of Arabic language learning was based on the learning components of acquiring the capability on becoming an active speaker through kitabah, qiroh, simaah and the ability to examine and analyze Al-Qur’an and As-sunnah. The learning method was conveyed through speech, question and answer, qowaid, direct method, and practice at language laboratory. Textbook, whiteboard, laptop, were employed as the learning media for teaching. The learning evaluation was tested through pre-test, and post-test in direct learning, formative and summative assessment. Second, administration test, written test, oral, and teaching Arabic language practice, preferably Islamic boarding school alumni, and Arabic language-based graduate qualification, well act, and loyal were conducted to prepare the qualified teaching staffs. To increase the competence; seminar, workshop method, Arabic language learning, and training learning. Third, planning for the Arabic language learning curriculum with annual program preparation, semester program as the reference for conducting teaching and syllabus, and RPP planning were implemented as teachers’ guidance for teaching in the classroom setting. Fourth, the Arabic language learning curriculum evaluation was conducted, yet, it was not maximally performed.

Abstract

This research deals with Speech Acts Analysis and Its Application Within the Interlocutors’ Communication which focused on its kinds, functions, and how each kind of illocutionary acts is performed by the students in FBMB Undikma under A Pragmatic Analysis. The kinds of speech acts; locutionary acts, illocutionary acts, and perlocutionary acts. The functions of illocutionary acts; representative, directive, commissive, expressive, and declarative. A descriptive qualitative method was employed since the data being analysed was in the form of descriptive data. Content analysis method was also employed due to get description of the research phenomena which in the forms of words, clauses, phrases, and sentences. There were twenty-four fragments being analysed. As the result, based on its classification, it showed that the most dominantly performed was locutionary acts 224 times, then followed by illocutionary acts 223 times, and the last one was perlocutionary acts 215 times. The declarative sentence had the highest frequency performed 131 times and in terms of the functions; representative had the highest frequency performed 163 times. It is found that representative was the highest frequency performed by the speakers as asserting, explaining, agreeing, suggesting, asking, reporting, informing, demanding, telling, claiming, affirming, denying, disbelieving, concluding, calling, answering, introducing, greeting, and clarifying.

Abstract

This research aims to increase students’ self-confidence at speaking skill by using Three Step Interview at The Second Grade of MA Hadil Islah Bilebante. This research used Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was taken from Kemmis and McTaggarat’s design. This research was finished in one cycle that consisted of four phases, those were: planning, acting, observing, and reflection. The subject of this research was XI A class which consist 20 students. The method of this research was Three Step Interview which run into some steps; a) students made a group consists of 4 persons, b) teacher gave the topic to the students, c) students were in pairs, one was the interviewer and the other was the interviewee, d) students A interviewed students B and student C interviewed student B, e) students reserved roles and each shared with team member what was learned during the two interviews, f) the teacher gave the reward to the best group. The instruments used in this study were observation checklist and questionnaire. This action research was done in two cycles the standard students’ successful 80% or 80 from 20 students exceed criteria of success. The result of the study showed that students’ average score was 83.15 and 90% of students’ percentage or 18 from 20 students agree with application of Three Step Interview Technique in increase students’ self-confidence at speaking skill. Thus, the researcher concluded that this research was successful to increase students’ self-confidence at speaking skill.

Abstract

This research emphasizes on the analysis archetypal image of wise old man that found in Kite Runner novel by Khaled Hosseini in 2003. The novel is flashback story that told about Amir and Hassan as best friend who always play together when they child in Kabul, Afghanistan. The object of the research is archetypal image of wise old man in Kite Runner novel by Hosseini viewed from Carl Gustav Jung theory. The researcher employs qualitative descriptive method to analyze wise old man in Kite Runner novel by Hosseini. Data result founded from primary data and secondary data that stated by Creswell. In doing qualitative research, the researcher employs archetypal image theory purposed by Jung that categorized in book of Guerin (2005) as basic concept and framework thinking. The researcher found Hassan as symbol of wise old man and the realization wise old man of Hassan are as mentor, helpful man and guardian. All those realization wise old man of Hassan in this novel is very impact to support major character reach his goal. From the analysis, it can be concluded the wise old man is compatible to be found in Kite Runner novel by Hosseini.
