Abstract

The study aims at examining (1) The presence or not of the influence concept understanding and Mathematics reasoning ability of Problem Solving Ability in Mathematics based either individually or together with students of class VIII SMPN 29 Makassar, and (2) problem solving ability in Mathematics based on concept understanding and Mathematics reasoning ability. The study is descriptive research is a mix-methode with quantitave-qualitative approach. The researcher acted as the instrument who has guided by test of Mathematics concept understanding and valid interview guidance. Data were collected through test provision and verified by interview. The subjects of the study were three students in class VIII at SMPN 29 Makassar consisted of on students of PKPMT, on students of PKPMS, and one students of PKPMR. The results of the study reveal that (1) there is influence concept understanding of Problem Solving Ability in Mathematics based equal to 36,50% through estimate function  = 15,659 + 0,751X1. There is influence Mathematics reasoning ability of Problem Solving Ability in Mathematics based equal to 40,05%  through estimate function 14Ŷ">  = 24,657 + 0,837X2. There is influence concept understanding and Mathematics reasoning ability of Problem Solving Ability in Mathematics based equal 44,20% through estimate function 14,774 + 0,361 14X1">  + 0,550 14X2">  (2) problem solving ability in mathematics of students who have concept understanding and high Mathematics reasoning ability : (a) able to understand the problems, (b) able to create the problem solving plan, (c) able to solve the problems, and (d) able to recheck the answers. The problem solving ability in mathematics of students who have concept understanding and medium Mathematics reasoning ability: (a) able to understand the problems, (b) able to create the problem solving plan, (c) able to solve the problems, and (d) able to recheck the answers. The problem solving ability in mathematics of students who have concept understanding and low Mathematics reasoning ability : (a) able to understand the problems, (b) unable to create problem solving plan so the concept understanding indicator and mathematics reasoning ability cannot be achieved, (c) anable to create the problem with appropriate and corret steps so the concept understanding indicator and mathematics reasoning ability cannot be achieved, and (d) unable to recheck the answers obtained so the concept understanding indicator and mathematics reasoning ability cannot be achieved

Abstract

Pemecahan masalah matematika telah diteliti oleh banyak ahli namun pemecahan masalah matematika berdasarkan taksonomi SOLO (Structure of Obsrved Learning Outcomes) ditinjau dari gaya kognitif dan gender masih kurang diteliti. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kualitatif yang bertujuan menggambarkan profil pemecahan masalah matematika berdasarkan taksonomi SOLO ditinjau dari gaya kognitif dan gender. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengetahui profil pemecahan masalah matematika dengan cara mengungkap dan mengklasifikasikan kemampuan siswa dalam merespon suatu masalah yang ditunjukkan siswa ke dalam 4 level berpikir menurut taksonomi SOLO yaitu unistruktural, multistruktural, relasional, dan abstrak yang diperluas. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti sendiri sebagai instrumen utama yang dipandu tes GEFT, tes superitem, dan pedoman wawancara. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas XI IPA SMA Negeri 1 Sangalla’ yang terdiri dari 2 orang siswa gender laki-laki bergaya kognitif field independent, 2 orang siswa gender perempuan bergaya kognitif field independent, 2 orang siswa gender laki-laki bergaya kognitif field dependent dan 2 orang siswa gender perempuan bergaya kognitif field dependent. Pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara analisis tugas dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (a) subjek gender laki-laki bergaya kognitif field independent (LFI) menunjukkan kecenderungan berpikir yang relatif sama pada level unistruktural, multistruktural, dan relasional dan kecenderungan berpikir yang berbeda pada level abstrak yang diperluas. (b) subjek gender perempuan bergaya kognitif field independent (PFI) menunjukkan kecenderungan berpikir pada level relasional, (c) subjek gender laki-laki bergaya kognitif field dependent (LFD) menunjukkan kecenderungan berpikir yang relatif sama pada level unistruktural dan multistruktural dan kecenderungan berpikir yang berbeda pada relasional dan kembali menunujukkan kecenderungan berpikir yang relatif sama pada level abstrak yang diperluas, (d) subjek gender perempuan bergaya kognitif field dependent (PFD) menunjukkan kecenderungan berpikir yang relatif sama pada level unistruktural dan multistruktural dan kecenderungan berpikir yang berbeda pada relasional dan level abstrak yang diperluas. Kata Kunci: Pemecahan Masalah Matematika, Taksonomi SOLO, Gaya Kognitif, Gender

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to determine the activities of students who have visual learning style, auditorial, and kinestetik in solving the problem of verbal mathematics.This research is descriptive-qualitative research. Researchers act as the main instrument assisted by interview guides as well as verbal tasks (about the story). The subjects of this study were three students of class VIII-F SMP Negeri 3 Sungguminasa, consisting of one SGBV, SGBA, and SGBK. Data were obtained from job-based interviews. Collected data is analyzed through three stages, namely reviewing data, reducing data, and presenting data. The results of the study generally show: 1) SGBV, SGBA, and SGBK through the three stages of thinking, that is understanding the problem, preparing the settlement plan and carry out the settlement 2) SGBV, SGBA, and SGBK thinking processes tend to be almost the same that is conceptual. 3) The behavior of SGBV, SGBA, and SGBK in solving verbal math problems (SVM) varies

Abstract

This research is quasi experiment which is aimed to know whether there is difference of learning result of social arithmetic of students taught by cooperative learning model type Jigsaw II and result of learning of social arithmetic of student taught by using cooperative learning model of NHT type on Students of Class VII of SMP Negeri I Makassar. The result of the research shows that: (1) the learning result of the students taught by using cooperative learning type Jigsaw II model reaches 100% learning completeness, the students get the value with the average score of 84.67, (2) the students' learning result which is taught by using the model NHT type cooperative learning reaches completeness 100% of students get grades with an average score of 78.67, (3) student activity both taught using cooperative learning model type Jigsaw II even NHT during meetings in a certain time is effective, (4) Cooperative students on both cooperative types used in effective learning, and (5) student responses to positive learning. Likewise, the results of inferential statistical analysis indicate that there are significant differences between the scores of student learning outcomes taught by cooperative learning model type Jigsaw II and score of student learning outcomes are taught with NHT type for social arithmetic subject, so from the results of this study can be concluded that the model Cooperative learning type jigsaw II and type of NHT differ significantly, and can be used as one of the learning model that can improve student learning outcomes, especially for the material of arithmetic of socio-students at grade VII SMP and equal

Abstract

Masalah pokok dalam penelitian ini adalahh efektivitas pembelajaran kooperarif tipe NHT dengan pembelajaran matematika realistik pada materi kesebangunan. Efektivitas pembelajaran dapat dilihat dari hasil belajar siswa, aktivitas siswa, aktivitas guru, respons siswa serta terjadinya peningkatan secara signifikan hasil belajar setelah pelaksanaan pembelajaran. Dari lima indikator pencapaian efektivitas tersebut yang dikaji khusus dalam penelitian ini. Penelitian ini dilaksanakn di SMP Negeri 1 Simbuang. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas IX SMP Ngeri 1 Simbuang semester ganjil tahun pelajaran 2013 /2014 menggunakan teknik pengambilan Sampel adalah claster random sampling dengan rancangan penelitian yaitu. One grup pretest-postest design. Data tentang aktivitas siswa yang berkaitan dengan keterampilan kooperatif serta aktivitas guru dalam mengelolah pembelajaran diperoleh 1 orang pengamat yaitu peneliti sendiri. Pengamat aktivitas tersebut menggunakan lembar observasi selama proses pembelajaran, selain itu mengetahui tingkat hasil belajar siswa digunakan postest. Adapun data  respons siswa yang diberikan dengan menggunakan angket respons siswa yang diberikan kepada akhir kegiatan pelaksanaan pembelajaran. Data yang dikumpul tersebut di analisis dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif untuk mendeskripsikan, aktivitas siswa,  aktivitas guru dalam mengajar skor  hasil belajar siswa serta respons siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) skor hasil belajar setelah pelaksanaan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT dengan pembelajaran matematika realistik. Terdapat peningkatan yang signifikan dan mencapai ketuntasan individual maupun klasikal serta rata-rata hasil belajar siswa secara keseluruhan 75,20. (2) aktivitas siswa berada pada batas toleransi (3) aktivitas guru dalam mengelolah pembelajaran kooperatif Tipe NHT dengan pembelajaran realistik pada kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Simbuang berada pada kategori terlaksana secara keseluruhan. (4) siswa merespons secara postif terhadap pembelajaran rata-rata persentase 3,76. (5) terjadi peningkatan secara signifikan hasil belajar siswa setelah pelaksanaan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT dengan pembelajaran realistik pada materi kesebangunan. Dari hasil penelitian ini secara umum disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pembelajaran kooperatif tipe NHT dengan pembelajaran realistik pada materi kesebangunan di kelas IX SMP Negeri 1 Simbuang dikategorikan pembelajaran yang efektif.Kata kunci: Pembelajaran matematika realisitik

Abstract

This study aimed to compare the mathematics learning outcomes eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 5 Pallangga Gowa taught through Discovery Learning Based Learning and Problem Based Learning Using Scientific Approach to the material opportunities. This type of research is a research experiment. The subjects were students of class VIII.A and VIII.B SMP Negeri 5 Pallangga Gowa in the second semester of the 2014/2015 school year numbered 80 people consisting of 40 people in each group. Data collected consist of data of student learning outcomes and student response data to the device and learning. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential analysis. Descriptive Research data show learning outcomes of students who are taught by the teaching model of Discovery-based learning using a scientific approach is at the high category with an average of 82.42 with a standard deviation of 6.09 from the ideal score of 100. The average value of gain 0.75 with a standard deviation of 0.06 of an ideal score of 1 at the high category, and learning outcomes classical completeness of 87.5%, while the response is in the category of students with more positive with an average of 3.29. Learning outcomes of students taught by teaching model Problem-based learning using a scientific approach at the high category with an average of 87.00 with a standard deviation of 7.06 from the ideal score of 100. The average value gain of 0.82 with a standard deviation 0.07 of an ideal score of 1 at the high category, and classical completeness learning outcomes by 95%, while the response is in the category of students with more positive with an average of 3.48. Descriptive mastery learning outcomes and student response is different. Testing the hypothesis of the differences in the results of learning is done by using independent test samples t test with SPSS 20 for significant learning outcomes with a value of α = 0.05 and for normalized gain significant value to the value of α = 0.05. It can be concluded there is a difference in response and student learning outcomes are taught through discovery learning model based learning and problem based learning model study using a scientific approach in class VIII SMP Negeri 5 Pallangga

Abstract

The research aims to discover the comparison of the affectiveness of project based learning and problem based learning in Mathematics learning in class VIII at Public Junior High Schools (SMPN) with A Accreditation in Makassar City. The research is Quasi Experiment with pretest-posttest design. The populations of the research were all of the students of class VIII at SMPN with A Accreditation in Makassar City and the samples were class VIII/B4 at SMPN 5 Makassar and class VIII2 at SMPN 26 Makassar which were chosen by using cluster random sampling technique. The data of the research were analyzed by using descriptive and inferential analysis. The results of the research reveal that both descriptively or inferentially, project based learning model have met effectiveness creteria that the average score of students’ Mathematics postt-test who were taught by using project based learning model is in high category by 81.87 and deviation standard  8.75, classical completeness is 87%, the average of normalized gain is in high category, the students’ activities are in very active category, the students’ responses on learning model are positive and students’ learning interests are in very high category. While inferentially, class classical completeness is ineffective. Generally, it is concluded that project based learning model is effective to be implemented in Mathematics learning in Two Variable Linear Equation System material in class VIII/B4 at SMPN 5 Makassar. The scores os students’ Mathematics learning results who were taught by using problem based learning model both descriptively and inferentially based on the post-test results are in high category with the average score 18.10 and deviation standard 7.73, the average of normalized gain is in high category, classical completeness is 86%, the students’ activities are in very active category, the students’ responses on learning model are postive, and the students’ learning iterests are in high category. While inferentially, class classical completeness is ineffective. Generally, it is concluded that problem based learningmodel is effective to be implemented in Mathematics learning in Two Variable Linear Equation System material in class VIII 2 at SMPN 26 Makassar. The results of hypothesis test at the significant level α = 0.05 with t-test indicates that Ho is accepted meaning that there is no difference of effectiveness between project based learning model and problem based learning model in Mathematics learning in Two Variable Linear Equation System material and variables of class VIII students at SMPN with A Accreditation inMakassar City

Abstract

The study aims at describing the effectiveness of cooperative learning model of STAD type with SAVI-CTL approach in Mathematics learning to Class VII students at SMPN 2 Bontonompo Selatan in Gowa District. The study is pre-experiment research. The populations were all class VII students at SMPN 2 Bontonompo Selatan in Gowa District. The sample was class VII.C as the experiment class chosen by employing simple random sampling technique. Data collections were students’ learning result, students’ activities during the learning process, and students’ responses on the implementation of learning model. Data were analyzed by using descriptive analysis and inferensial analysis. The results of the study reveal that the students’ learning result in Mathematics is in high category with the mean 81.17 and deviation standard 6.64, the classical completeness level is 88%, the mean of normalized gain of learning result is in high category, students’ activities in learning are in Tended to be Active category with the mean 3.28, and students’ responses on the implementation of cooperative model of STAD type with SAVI-CTL approach is in positive category with the mean 3.55. In general, the conclusion is the cooperative model of STAD type with SAVI-CTL approach is effective to be applied in Mathematics learning to Class VII Students at SMPN 2 Bontonompo Selatan in Gowa District.

Abstract

In order to overcome students’ problems in understanding the subject, particulary Mathematics, capable assistance is needed. In this case, scaffolding is needed to be given to students according to their needs. This study examines students’ thinking process in understanding integers by giving scaffolding to class VI SD Inpres Perumnas Antang I. The study aims at examining the students’ thinking process in understanding integers by giving scaffolding to class VI SD inpres Perumnas Antang I. The type of this study is qualitative-deskriptive-explorative research. The research is the main instrument guided by understanding integers test anda valid interview guideline. Data were collected by giving understanding integers test and interview. The subjects of the study were six students of grade VI at SD Inpres Perumnas Antang I who had obtained integers material, those were two students with high ability, two students with medium ability, and two students with low ability. The research process was conducted in several steps: (a) formulating understanding indicator, (b) formulating the instrument, (c) taking research subjects, (d) collecting data of students’ thinking process in understanding integers by scaffolding, (e) conducting source triangulation to obtain valid data, (f) conducting data analysis, and (g) drawing conclusion of the result of the research. The research discovered that the thinking process in understanding integers had differences on each subject and in general the integers material obtained were processed and kept and would be retake even developed by giving scaffolding. The problem in stating integers concept, presenting the concept in a form of mathematics representation and implementing integers concept experienced by students with high, medium, and low ability in mathematics. The scaffolding given was various based on the problem of each subject in understanding integers. The lower mathematics ability of the subject, the more type of scaffolding were given

Abstract

The research question was how is the process and the result of learning device of rectangle and square through realistic mathematics approach based Bruner theory to student of grade VII at SMPN 1 Palopo. This study was research and development ( R & D) because it aimed to produce the learning device of rectangle and square through realistic mathematics approach based Bruner theory. The learning device consisted of (1) lesson planning, (2) teacher’s manual, and (3) student’s worksheet. The learning device model which employed in this study referred to 4-D Thiagarajan, Semmel & Semmel model which consisted of the defining stage, designing stage, development stage, and dissemination stage. This study was conducted in grade VII.d at SMPN 1 Palopo with 26 students. The result obtained was learning device which was practical and effective, student’s activity was as expected, the application of learning device was in implemented category and student’s response was in positive category. After conducting the development stage, the learning device of rectangle and square with realistic mathematics approach based Bruner theory was in good quality. Student’s activity in group work was focused on the LKS completion and discussion among students. Students academic competence in learning by employing realistic approach based Bruner theory was improved and the score variation of academic achievement between students who had high competence, fair competence, and low competence after the learning was gradually smaller
