Abstract

The main objective of this paper is to measure and interpret the dynamic effect of monetary policy on regional or provincial macroeconomic indicator such as Regional Gross Domestic Product and a response of Provincial Government as indicated by their Consumption. Regional economic differences may exist, making the implementation of monetary policy based on national averages controversial. We explore this possibility by measuring the impacts of monetary policy across province of Indonesia. Using regional VAR, we find differences in the effects of monetary shocks across province of the Republic of Indonesia. Our regional VAR suggest that aggregate VARs that ignore regional variations can suffer from severe aggregation bias. Impulse response functions from estimated regional VAR models reveal differences in policy responses. The size of a monetary response is significant related to regional economic activity.

Abstract

Unstable inflation is influenced by economic conditions. Macroeconomic conditions in Indonesia make inflation increase or decrease. The policies taken by the government and the central bank determine the size of inflation. Community consumption patterns also play a role in increasing inflation. The purpose of this study is to determine the most effective policy in overcoming inflation, using the Vector Autoregressive (VAR) model to estimate the research variables. Impulse response function and variance decomposition that describes how and how the influence of inflation fluctuations. VAR estimates show significant inflation influenced by the money supply and SBI interest rate in the first lag. Meanwhile, taxes and government spending are significant in the second lag. Impulse response analysis shows that inflation response is fastest and strongest by the money supply. While the description of variance decomposition, the variations described inflation most affect the change of inflation itself and second order is the money supply.

This research conducted in east java as main producer of soybean in Indonesia. We use secondary data for 1980-2004 periods wits simutaneus models, especially two stage least square method. The result of research shows that the model of demand and supply used had fulfilling economic, statistic and econometric criteria so can be used to explain economic behavior of soybean in east java correctly. Suplay of soybean influenced positively by corn price, productivity and harvesting are of soybean commodity, while domistic price of soybean, price of rice, price of fertilizer, world price and so lags of supplay does not significant. Import positively influenced by income and current demand, and negatively import does not significant. Domistic demand of soybean positively influenced by population size and negatively influenced by per capita income, while other variables such as domistic price, corn price and previous demand does not significant. Domistic price positively influenced by suplay and exchange rate, and so previosly domistic price, while demand and world price does not significant.

Abstract

This study aims to identify the effect of food prices and the factors of demand side on the inflation rate in the 33 provinces in Indonesia. Using fixed effect panel data regression model, our result show that inflation in 33 provinces in Indonesia are caused by demand-side factors ( gross regional domestic product and government expenditure) as well as supply-side factors, namely food prices in this case the price of rice. The policy implication of this study is that monetary policy by controlling the money supply is still effective for achieving the goal of price stability. However, monetary policy alone will not be effective to achieve the inflation target. Required policy coordination among agencies or departments in order to ensure the availability of basic necessities such as rice commodities.

Besides, the discussion has been yielded that the poverty approach with the use of multidimensional approach has been depicted the real life of children's condition whose have lack of education, health and living standard. Again, the impact on the assesment has shown the goverment intervention on the children's welfares were still become minor policy. Finally, this paper has conclude that poverty measurement approach must be actively responsive to the children's need on their welfare. Abstract

This research analyzes potential trade-off between economic growth and regional equity in the design of fiscal decentralization. A theoritical model of fiscal decentralization is being used, where overall national economic growth and regional equity in the regional distribution of fiscal resources are two objective pursued by a benevolent policy maker. Solutions that emphasize regional equity tend to have larger central government expenditures and higher contribution to the central budget by richer juridictions. The reserve is true for solutions emphasizing growth. The model is tested using Generalized Least Square (GLS). Fiscal decentralization in Indonesia led to significant increases in regional equity.

Abstract
