Abstract

In milling process with slope of workpiece, the milling process requires more energy from milling machine. The greater the slope of workpiece estimated to be the greater energyrequired by the milling machine. Therefore, the machining vibration that occurs was estimated to be very big. This study aimed to determine influence theslope of workpiece to machining vibration in milling machine with variations of feeding. This study used Milling Machine Knuth Universal UFM 2 with vertical milling approach. The slope of workpiece used was 300, 450 and 600.The machining process parameters varied was feeding while depth of cut and spindle speed were constant. The study results show that the greater the slope of work piece, the greater the machining vibration on the up milling process and the down milling processes for all slope of work piece. Similarly the influence of feeding to machining vibration in milling process. The study results show that the change of feeding will give a positive impact to machining vibration on the up milling process and the down milling processes. For same the slope of workpiece and feeding the machining vibration on the down milling process is greater than the up milling process.

Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan arang tongkol jagung dan serbuk cangkang kerang mutiara sebagai media carburizer pada proses pack carburizing terhadap sifa (struktur mikro) dan mekanis (uji kekerasan) baja karbon rendah. Bahan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah baja karbon rendah yang berbentuk selinder. Proses pembuatan spesimen dilakukan dengan pemotongan menjadi beberapa bagian, pemotongan dilakukan untuk memudahkan di dalam meletakan spesimen di dalam kotak karburisasi,kemudian serbuk arang kayu dan serbuk cangkang ditimbang sesuai dengan komposisi yang diinginkan dengan pencampuran serbuk cangkang kerang mutiara 5, 10 , 20 dan 25 (% berat). Spesimen dilakukan perlakuan panas pada temperature 9100C, 9300C, 9500C dengan penahanan waktu selama 90, dan 150 menit. Kemudian dilakukan Uji kekerasan Vickers, pengujian foto struktur mikro dan uji komposisi. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa nilai kekerasan tertinggi rata-rata pada penambahan 20% serbuk cangkang di peroleh sebesar 262,47 kg/mm2 dan kekerasan material awal diperoleh sebesar 144,08 kg/mm2. Dari hasil pengamatan struktur mikro dan uji komposisi diketahui bahwa terjadi pengerasan permukaan karena difusi karbon kedalam baja karbon randah.

Abstract

Orifice flow meter is used in many laboratory and industrial application due because of its simple design and low cost. The present research investigated an orifice flow meter operated in relatively low flow rate. Orifice plate is a metal plate, 10 mm width provided with bevel at inlet section. The diameter ratios (β) are 0.3, 0.4, 0.5, 0.6, 0.7, and 0.8, respectively. The experiment used water with flowrate range having Reynolds number between 6827,55 and 8004,72. The fluid is flown through the orifice plate. Pressure taps are used to measure pressure at upstream and downstream of the orifice plate. The actual capacity is directly measured at an outlet reservoir; while the theoretical capacity is calculated using modified Bernoulli equation with diameter ratio (β) within the equation. The results showed that the irrecoverable pressure drop decreased with the increase of flow capacity and the diameter ratio. The discharge coefficient of the orifice flowmeter ranged between 0.3 and 1.3.

Abstract

This study is to develop the constitutive equations to describe the mechanical deformation of the surfaces active of electrode. Most of tests are isotherms to characterize the material behavior at each temperature. The results isothermal test are used to identify the parameters of the law by using softwere SiDoLo, it shows the difference affected temperature. We can determine the value of the variable aging is a value between 0-1, the results identification of material aging through numerical calculations show the final result 0.9, then we can say that the specimens have been tested aging

Abstract

As the fossil energy has been getting depletion, it is important to utilize alternative energies such as solar energy. An equipment that can be used for capturing and converting solar energy is solar collector. Two identical collectors used in this study were placed facing to the North with an inclination angle of 15°. The collector dimension was 0.8 m x 1 m x 0.05 m. One collector contained 5 parallel pipes and the other contained 7 parallel pipes.  The water used in the test was flowed naturally due to the gravity force from a higher tank and was adjusted using a valve fitted at the end of the collector. The water flow rates employed were 200, 250 and 300 cc/minutes and  measured using a volume meter and a stop watch. The results showed that the energy coming into the collector, energy absorbed by the absorber and water, increased with an increase in the observation time and reached the peak value at about  2.30 pm. After that, they decreased. The effect of the pipe number is significant and the performance of the collector containing 7 pipes is better than that containing 5 pipes.
