Abstract

Streptococcus viridans is a Gram-positive facultative anaerobe that most commonly found in infected root canals. The biomechanical preparation of root canal treatment requires root canal irrigation as it functions not only used to cleanser but also antibacterial agent. NaOCl 2,5% is the most commonly used Endodontic irrigant, however it is still considered to have several disadvantages. Cocoa pod shell (Theobroma cacao L.) are industrial plantation waste which has a source of antibacterial compounds that expected to be an alternative to substitute NaOCl’s drawbacks. This study aim to examine the antibacterial effectiveness of cocoa pod shell extract against S.viridans. The research is posttest only group control design and the method use broth dilution to examine the antibacterial effectiveness. The results of Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and Levene's test showed that data set which exhibited both non-normally distributed and non-homogeneous, continued with the nonparametric test using the Kruskal-wallis test, it was found that p <0.5 meant there were significantly differences between all study groups. 25%; 12,5%; 6,25%; 3,125%; 1,56%; 0,78% concentration of cocoa pod shell extract has antibacterial activity against S.viridans. The Minimum Inhibitory Concentration to against S.viridans is cocoa pod shell extract concentration 0,78%. Cocoa pod shell extract concentration 12,5% and 25% equal to NaOCL 2,5%.

Abstract

National Health Insurance program changed the pattern of health financing in Indonesia from fee to service system to capitation system. The capitation system is expected to reduce the risk of the community's own health costs and overcome inequalities of health services. The purpose of this literature review is to analyze the implementation of capitation payment system in overcoming health services problems. Although the implementation of NHI in Indonesia helps to equalize health services, there are quite number of problems in implementing NHI with the capitation system, among others, not all of the population is covered as participants, inequality of health facilities, varied quality of health services, health human resources, and management of capitation funds, monitoring, non-optimal referral systems, and varied geographic conditions had potential for widening health inequalities between community groups. Public health services should not only focus on treating individuals who are sick, but can do more important things such as making efforts to prevent and improve health. The capitation payment system is the most effective system for solving health services problems even though its implementation still not optimal and there are several shortcomings that can be fixed.

Abstract

Vasoconstrictors are commonly used with local anesthetics to control pain in dental practice. This is related to the role of vasoconstrictors in the alpha 1 receptor smooth muscle of peripheral blood vessels. Vasoconstrictors are able to constrict peripheral blood vessels in the area around the injection site, so that there is a decrease in absorption of local anesthetic drugs in tissue. These conditions also contribute to the prolongation of the duration of action, the depth of anesthesia and the systemic reduction in drug toxicity. The aim of study to assess the recent vasoconstrictor that used in dentistry. Vasoconstrictors in local anasthesia can constrict peripheral blood vessels and have a negative effect on the vicinity of the injection site. These negative effects include prolongation of the bleeding process after surgery and inhibition of the wound healing process. Negative effects of vasoconstrictors are also associated with vasoconstrictor interactions with other types of drugs in dental practice. The use of vasoconstrictors can be very dangerous for patients with a history of cardiovascular disease such as unstable angina, ventricular tachycardia, fibrilar tachycardia and others. Understanding of vasoconstrictor pharmacology, vasoconstrictor interactions with other drugs, clinical use and contraindications to vasoconstrictor use are very important.

Abstract

Stunting is a condition of toddlers who have a shorter body than toddlers their age which is caused by chronic malnutrition. Stunting is one of the nutritional problems experienced by children under five in the world today with a prevalence of 22.2%. The impact of stunting in children under five is an increase in the level of morbidity and mortality, susceptibility to disease, and degenerative disease problems in adulthood, and it can affect the level of intellectuality and cognitive abilities in toddlers. Parenting style is one of the indirect factors that play a role in the incidence of stunting, the low parenting style of parents can increase the risk of children under five experiencing stunting. The parenting style includes feeding practices, parenting practices, and utilization of health services. The aim of this research is to examine and analyze the description of parenting styles for children under five years of age with stunting in Kalisat. A descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional approach using purpossive sampling. The description of parenting style for stunting toddlers as seen from feeding practices and parenting practices shows poor parenting styles, while health service utilization shows good parenting styles. The incidence of stunting in children under five in the Glagahwero and Ajung Village of Kalisat can occur because the parenting style in feeding practices and parenting practices is included in bad criteria even though the utilization of health services is included in good criteria.

Abstract

The frenulum is a fold of mucous membrane that attaches the lips and cheeks to the alveolar mucosa, gingiva, and underlying periosteum. High frenulum attachment can cause periodontal and esthetic problems, such as gingivitis, gingival recession, and central diastema which require frenectomy. Frenectomy is the complete removal of the frenulum, including its attachment to the alveolar bone, causing a wide wound and triggering bleeding. A 21-year-old female patient who came to the Mataram City Hospital complained that her upper front teeth were not meeting and spaced. This situation makes the patient feel insecure. The patient had no history of systemic disease. OHIS is good and objective examination shows a central diastema due to the attachment of the superior labial frenum which achieves papillary penetration. Management is done by frenectomy with electrosurgery. The patient was very satisfied with the results. Frenectomy using electrosurgery provides good esthetic results and less bleeding.

Abstract

Alginate impression material is important in dentistry. In its clinical application, setting time is still considered too fast, and the alginate impression material must have dimensional stability in accordance with ANSI / ADA standard specification no.18. Alginate impression material has a main component, namely sodium alginate which is produced from the seaweed extraction process. In Indonesia, there are several types of seaweed, one of which is the Kappaphycus alvarezii (K. alvarezii). The seaweed from the village of Agel Situbondo has the potential to be a source of sodium alginate and has antibacterial and antioxidant effects. The aim of this study to analyze the dimensional stability and setting time of the alginate printing material with sodium alginate extract of kappaphycus alvarezii seaweed. The study was conducted using laboratory experimental methods with post-test only control group design, there were 2 groups, namely the commercial alginate printing material control group, and the alginate printing material treatment group with sodium alginate extract from the acid method, then the FTIR test was carried out. Then the two groups were tested for setting time and dimensional stability. The results of the FTIR test of red seaweed extract showed an absorption peak that was identical to that of sodium alginate. The results of the setting time test significantly took longer for the red seaweed alginate impression material than the control group, while the dimensional stability showed the same results. Conclusion: The results of the setting time test showed that the treatment group had a longer setting time than the control group and both groups had dimensional stability according to the standard. The results of the setting time test showed that the treatment group had a longer setting time than the control group and both groups already had dimensional stability in accordance with the standard.
