Abstract

Adolescents with HIV/AIDS (Human Immunodeficiency Virus - Acquired Immunodeficiency Syndrome) continue to increase every year in line with the increase in sex behavior outside of marriage. One of the problems in adolescents with HIV / AIDS is malnutrition status. The purpose of the study was to observe nutritional status in adolescents with HIV / AIDS. The subjects were all adolescents with HIV/AIDS at the Kompeda Surabaya Foundation. The research design in this study is a time series, measuring nutritional status variables at some time using weight parameters according to age. Data collection was carried out on February-April 2022. The measurements were conducted using a bathroom scale. The number of subjects was 150 people with incidental sampling techniques. Inclusion criteria: adolescents diagnosed with HIV/AIDS, living in shelters, allowed by caregivers, ages 12-21, not being hospitalized during the study. Exclusion criteria: died, did not follow complete weight monitoring. During the study none of the subjects resigned nor were excluded from the study. The results of the study found that 90 had normal nutritional status and 60 were abnormal. There is a statistically significant difference in nutritional status between the first and second measurements. Foundation managers need to make efforts by paying more attention to adolescent nutritional intake so that nutritional status can improve.

Abstract

Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is characterized by an abnormal increase in the mass of the left ventricle due to chronic elevated cardiac workload. LVH serves as a preclinical indicator of cardiovascular disease and stands as a robust predictor of cardiovascular morbidity and mortality. Detecting LVH can be achieved through various methods, including electrocardiography (ECG), radiology, and echocardiography. However, the limited availability and affordability of echocardiography underline the crucial role of ECG, especially in healthcare facilities lacking echocardiography capabilities. The primary objective of this study was to establish more precise diagnostic criteria for identifying LVH in hypertensive patients at RSUD Tabanan. This research is an analytical observational study with a cross-sectional design conducted at RSUD Tabanan. The data were extracted from medical records of hypertensive patients who had received treatment at the hospital's cardiology clinic between 2020 and 2022. Among the patients who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, ECG assessments were conducted to determine the presence of left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) using the Cornell criteria and Peguero-Lo Presti criteria. Additionally, echocardiography results were reviewed in the patients' medical records. Of the 111 research subjects, 10 (15.15%) subjects had LVH detected based on the Cornell criteria, 30 (45.45%) subjects had LVH detected based on the Peguero - Lo Presti criteria and 66 subjects (59.46%) had LVH detected using the echocardiography examination. The Cornell Criteria had a sensitivity of 15.15%, a specificity of 93.33% and an accuracy of 59.9% while the Peguero–Lo Presti Criteria had a sensitivity of 45.45%, a specificity of 84.44% and an accuracy of 66.2% for diagnosing LVH. The Peguero – Lo Presti criteria have higher accuracy than the Cornell criteria in diagnosing left ventricular hypertrophy in hypertensive patients according to echocardiography.

Abstract

Utilization of tourism clinics, particularly for pre-travel consultations, remains low among domestic tourists. The current study aims to examine the relationship between knowledge level and attitude towards the utilization of tourism clinics for pre-travel consultations in Bali Province. The study sample consisted of 106 domestic tourists who were present in Bali during the period of May-September 2022. Consecutive sampling was used, and the Chi-Square Test was executed for data analysis with the aid of the SPSS version 25.0 program. The research findings indicate that the majority of domestic tourists (50%) originated from Malang. Additionally, the study revealed that women accounted for a greater proportion (62.3%) of domestic tourists. The research results also showed that 60 tourists had a good level of knowledge and utilized the tourism clinic, while 59 tourists had an agreeable attitude towards the utilization of the tourism clinic. The results of the study demonstrate a significant relationship between knowledge level (p<0.001) and attitude (p<0.001) towards the use of tourism clinics for pre-travel consultations in Bali Province. Overall, tourists have a good level of knowledge and agreeable attitude towards the utilization of tourism clinics, indicating a positive trend towards the promotion of tourism clinics for pre-travel consultations.

Abstract

This research centers on Brain MRI examinations in patients with clinical epilepsy, featuring the incorporation of an additional T2 SPACE dark fluid sequence. Brain MRI examination with clinical epilepsy at National Brain Center Hospital is a frequent examination. Epilepsy is such a condition characterized by recurrent seizures caused by disturbances in the brain function. In relation to which, this research aims to analyze the use of dark fluid T2 SPACE sequences and analyze the results of MRI images on dark fluid T2 SPACE sequences for information on coronal MRI Brain anatomical images with clinical epilepsy at National Brain Center Hospital. As for the research design used was descriptive qualitative with a case study approach which was conducted starting from February up to May 2023 at National Brain Center Hospital using a Siemens Skyra MRI aircraft with a power of 3 Tesla. The populations of this research were the patients who had clinical Temporal Lobe Epilepsy (TLE) and the number of samples was 10 patients. The result of this study indicates that the use of the T2 SPACE dark fluid sequence produces more detailed images of the hippocampal structure in terms of slices. In addition, it provides good spatial resolution for assessing the hippocampal structure, allowing the visualization of abnormal signal intensities within the hippocampus, and facilitating the detection of hippocampal abnormalities. Therefore, it can be concluded that the use of T2 SPACE dark fluid sequence is very important and considerably quite informative in diagnosing epilepsy cases.

Abstract

Stroke is the leading cause of death, disability, and morbidity in the world. Hemorrhagic stroke (HS) prevalence accounts for 10–20% of all strokes, whereas ischemic stroke accounts for 85 percent. Clinical manifestation and numerous biomarkers such as ferritin level, cholesterol level, and lately neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio have been suggested as a sign of HS prognosis. It’s also used as a modality for differentiating ischemia from hemorrhagic. The purpose of this study is to assess if there is a link between NLR and HS evidence. A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted among the medical reports of patients treated with stroke at Sanjiwani Hospital Bali through 2018–2020. The inclusion criteria were complete medical reports in adults≥ 18 years old. Data obtained from the medical record include demographic data, including age, gender, chief complaint, stroke diagnoses based on clinical manifestations, data of leucocytes, neutrophils, lymphocytes, NLR, and results of computed-tomography scanning of the head. Data were analyzed with the Chi-Square test for nominal data and Spearman Correlation test to evaluate the correlation of the leucocyte, neutrophil, lymphocyte, NLR, with the diagnoses. Ninety-six patients’ medical records were evaluated in the current study. Age ≥ 50 years old (85.4%) with the oldest age was 91 years old. The top three chief complaints are hemiparesis (78.1%), a decrease of consciousness (7.3%), and facial palsy (5.2%). We also analyzed the correlation of inflammation parameters using the Spearman correlation test. There is a positive weak correlation between leucocyte count (r: 0.351; p<0.001) and NLR with evidence of HS (r = 0.371; p<0.001). The correlation between neutrophil counts and evidence of HS is a positive moderate correlation (r = 0.408, p<0.001). Lymphocyte count has a strong positive correlation with HS (r: 1.000, p = 0.017). The leucocyte, neutrophil, lymphocyte, and NLR are able to predict the evidence of hemorrhagic disease in resource-limited countries.

Abstract

Stunting has become a national issue that has received a lot of attention recently, as stunting can affect the nation's productivity in the future. The adequacy of nutritional intake in months 0 up to 24 months, or 1000 days of life, is one of the key factors in preventing stunting. This study aims to determine the nutrition adequacy level of pregnant women and children aged 0 to 24 months in Gianyar Regency. This study was a household survey with a cross-sectional approach. The samples were households in Gianyar Regency in 2021 with pregnant women and young children (up to 24 months old), chosen using the cluster method with the census block serving as a cluster. From each selected census block, 5 samples of pregnant women, 5 samples of children aged 0–1 year, and 5 toddlers aged 1-2 years will be selected by a simple random method. Data was collected using the Semi-Quantitative Food Frequency Questionnaire (SQ-FFQ). Data analysis was performed using the NutriSurvey application. The total energy of pregnant women was moderately deficient; protein and fat adequacy were normal, while carbohydrates, calcium, and iron were severely deficient. Nutritional adequacy for toddlers aged 0–1 year in the form of energy, protein, fat, carbohydrates, calcium, and iron was classified as normal. Nutritional adequacy for toddlers aged 1-2 years in the form of energy, protein, fat, calcium, and iron was classified as normal, while carbohydrates were moderately deficient. The presence of nutrition deficiencies among pregnant women indicates that a public health program regarding carbohydrate, calcium, and iron deficiencies is urgently needed.
