Abstract

The mining activities of PT. XXX are conducted using the open cast mining method to extract nickel ore. In addition to mining, PT. XXX also processes its nickel ore. The nickel ore processing includes drying, reduction, smelting, refining, and granulation. These processing activities potentially cause particulate dispersion in the air. The purpose of this research is to determine air quality based on the Air Pollutant Standard Index (ISPU) using parameters of Particulate Matter 2.5 µm (PM2.5) and Particulate Matter 10 µm (PM10). This study employs a purposive sampling method for collecting ambient air quality samples using a portable Aeroqual S500 device. Measurements were taken at 5 points around the Process Plant area where air quality deterioration is likely to occur. The air quality data was analyzed based on the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry Regulation No. P.14/MENLHK/7/2020 concerning the Air Pollution Standard Index. Based on the measurement results at the five points in the PP area, several points exceeded the quality standards for Particulate Matter 2.5 µm (PM2.5) and Particulate Matter 10 µm (PM10). The highest concentrations of PM2.5 were found in the T1, measuring 30,666 µg/m3 and PM10 were found in the T3, measuring 105,031 µg/m3 respectively. However, according to the ISPU calculations performed at each sampling point, the air quality is still classified as moderate and remains acceptable for living organisms..  The mining activities of PT. Abstract

Improvement of cultivation techniques to increase green chili yield is by applying organic mulch and using manure. This study was to determine the best organic mulch and manure application for the growth and yield of green chili plants. The study was conducted in Pandes I, Wonokromo, Pleret, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta in March - June 2023. This study used a Split Plot Design with two factors in three replications. The main plot is the type of organic mulch consisting of 4 levels: rice straw, rice husks, sawdust, and bamboo litter. The subplot is the type of manure consisting of 3 levels: cow manure 30 tons/ha, goat manure 30 tons/ha, and chicken manure 30 tons/ha. The results showed that there was no interaction between the use of organic mulch and manure on all plant yield parameters. Organic mulch such as rice straw, sawdust, rice husks and bamboo litter did not give the best results on the total weight of green chili per plot, the weight of green chili per hectare and the harvest index of green chili. The use of chicken manure gave the best results on the weight of green chili per harvest, the total weight of green chili, the weight of green chili hectare, and the harvest index of green chili.

Abstract

Sweet corn (Zea mays Saccharata Strut) and bambara groundnut (Vigna subterranea (L.) Verdc) are very likely to be intercropped, because bambara groundnut are legumes that function to fix nitrogen from the free air which is beneficial for sweet corn plants. This study aimed to determine the growth and productivity responses of corn plants and 5 accessions of bambara beans in an intercropping system. The study was conducted in Sariharjo village, Ngaglik, Sleman, in July-October 2024. The experimental design used was a split-plot Randomized Block Design (RBD) with two factors with 3 replications. The main factor is the number of corn seeds per hole with 2 levels (1 seed per hole and 2 seeds per hole), and the sub factor is the type of bambara groundnut accession. The sub-factors consisted of 6 levels, namely the intercropping system of corn and 5 accessions of bambara groundnut: Bogor, Sukabumi, Sumedang brown, Madura and Gresik accessions and monoculture of corn plants, so that there were 36 experimental units. The results of this study concluded that the intercropping cultivation system of sweet corn with bambara groundnut significantly increased plant height, while the intercropping of sweet corn and bambara groundnut of Madura and Gresik accessions significantly increased the weight of sweet corn cobs. In all variables, Madura and Gresik accessions showed no significant differences. Sweet corn with 2 plants per planting hole is less efficient in producing corn cobs and has a negative impact on number of leaves and flowering age  of bambara groundnut.

Abstract

Pugong, Gina Mae U. (2024). Sensory Evaluation and Acceptability of Cala-Mango Butchi.          This study presents the importance of snacks in many Filipinos daily food intake. It also states the benefits and uses of mangoes and calabash fruit. This study aims to: produce a food product which can help farmers dispose of their products and create an additional income; make a local food which is healthy and affordable; utilize and maximize the use of mangoes and calabash fruit. This study also focused in assessing the acceptability cala-mango butchi. This study used the quantitative descriptive survey method of research. It is appropriate in this study because it allows for standardized measurement using numerical rating scale and enables statistical analysis. Moreover, the qualitative approach by observing the reactions of the respondents were considered. Gathered data were analyzed and interpret with the use of mean and percentage. Percentage is used to describe the profile of the respondent. Mean is used to determine the acceptability of the butchi in terms of its aroma, appearance, flavor and texture. Results showed that the respondents have different perception about cala-mango butchi but in summary this product is very much accepted by the respondents in terms of appearance, texture, aroma and flavor. This study recommends to future researchers to consider making butchi with other flavors and do a larger scale of sampling. They may also consider adding marketability research.
