Abstract

Study Of Leachate Quality to Groundwater Quality Around Jetis Landfill, Pakem, Gebang District, Purworejo Regency, Central Java Province (Ika Wahyuning Widiarti and Eni Muryani): Organic waste will be decomposed easily and produce leachate. Leachate may pollute soil, groundwater and river around TPA (Final Disposal) Jetis if it does not manage well. The objectives of this research are to describe leachate quality with parameters pH, BOD, COD, TSS, N-Total, Hg and Cd, to analyse the status of groundwater quality, and to evaluate the connection between leachate quality and groundwater quality around TPA Jetis. Leachate sampling was conducted at inlet and outlet of WWTP of TPA Jetis and the groundwater sampling was conducted at resident well and monitoring well. Research result showed that parameters BOD, COD, and TSS at inlet exceeded the standard. While the all parameters of the outlet were still meet the standard. The status of groundwater quality included lightly polluted with PI for monitoring well was 1.082 and for resident well was 2.912. Laboratory results showed that the resident well has BOD and COD values that exceed the standard. So that it can be expected that groundwater contamination occurs because of leachate from the TPA Jetis so that the groundwater quality of the resident well around the landfill decreases.

Abstract

The effect of bio-organo mineral fertilizers on availability of soil NPK andgrowth of corn plants (R. Agus Widodo, Didi Saidi, and Djoko Mulyanto): Thedemand of chemical fertilizers increase continuously, but the availability and high prices are obstacles to achieving optimal agricultural production. On the other hand, the dose of fertilizer that must be given per unit area continues to increase due to land degradation due to excessive use of chemicals without organic fertilizer. Organic giving is felt to be unable to meet the nutrient requirements needed by plants. Bio organo mineral fertilizer is an organic fertilizer enriched with agricultural mineral materials. This study aims to determine the effect of various formulas of bio-organo mineral fertilizer on the growth of corn plants. The study was conducted with experiments arranged in a randomized design complete with the treatment of 7 kinds of bio organo mineral fertilizers of various formulas and controls. Research parameters included plant height, stem diameter and number of leaves. The results showed that various bio organo mineral fertilizers had a significant effect on plant height and stem diameter, but were not significantly different from the number of leaves. The best fertilizer based on plant growth is bio-organomineral fertilizer with formula P4, which is a combination of 65% straw; 15% chicken manure; 20% agromineral material (Zeolite: Feldspar: Phosphate rock = 1: 1: 2)

Abstract

The Relations Of Soil Moisture Contains and Rain Fluctuation with Dynamics PeakHarvest of Mango Gedong Gincu (Nono Sutrisno and S. Setyo Wardoyo): Mango gedong gincu is a fruit whose market is good for Indonesia and export, is a typical fruits of Indramayu and Majalengka District, West Java. The purpose of this research is to study the relationship between soil moisture content and rainfall fluctuation with harvest season and peak of mango gedong gincu, to develop marketing strategy of mango gedong gincu and to determine the development strategy of mango gedong gincu based on the difference of harvest time. The research was conducted in Krasak Village, Jatibarang Sub-district; Sliyeg Lor Village, Sliyeg Sub-district, Indramayu District and in the Village of Pangkalanpari, Jatitujuh Sub-district, Majalengka District. The research method consisted of surveys, field data collection such as soil moisture observation, climate data, flowering, harvesting, rainfall relationship analysis with soil moisture, generative phase characteristics or flowering and mango harvesting times. The results showed that the optimal flowering in Krasak village occurred on 4 September 2003 as much as 35.50%, in Sliyeg Lor village occurred on 29 September 2003 of 77.30% and in Pangkalanpari village on 21 August 2003 35.52%. Early harvest of mango gedong gincu showed difference, so did the quality, average weight each mango in Krasak village 211 g, diameter 6.31 cm and length 7.797 cm and in Sliyeg Lor Village 300 g, diameter 7.75 cm and 8.88 cm long, in Pangkalanpari Village 252 g, diameter 7.16 cm and length 8.18 cm. The results show that there is a correlation between rainfall with soil moisture level and flowering rate. The development of mango gedong gincu is done on an areas that has the same climatic conditions, especially the rainfall pattern and the distribution of the soil and done gradually in accordance with harvest time and peak harvest.

Abstract

Study of Laundry Wastewater Treatment using Activated Carbon Adsorption Method and Its Effects on Azolla Growth (Fanty Eka Adiastuti, Yanisworo Wijaya Ratih, and Miseri Roeslan Afany): Recently, industrial laundry has been increasing rapidly, however generally the waste water of loundry industries were dumped directly to the environment without any treatment.. The purpose of the research is to study pollutants decrease of laundry industrial wastewater by using activated carbon and to evaluate the loundry wastewater treated be used for Azolla cultivation. This research applied 4 treatments that are application of activated carbon with 3 replications using Completely Randomize Design (CRD). The treatment consists of 0g, 5g, 10g, and 15 g of activated carbon which was added in one litre of laundry wastewater. The parameters which were analysis were pH, detergent and P content, also BOD and COD value. The next step is the use of loundry wastewater treated for Azolla cultivation. Azolla biomass was being observed in every 5 days for 20 days. The results showed that the use of 5g/L activated carbon on laundry wastewater increases significantly levels of phosphate, and decreases significantly of detergent content, BOD and COD value. Azolla sp. has not able to grow on Azolla sp. has the ability to grow on the activated carbon application of 5g/L and their growth was not significantly different from 10g/L and 15g/L treatment.

Abstract

Evaluation of Soil Fertility Status in Nglegi Village, Patuk Sub-District, Gunungkidul District (Andi Suseno, Dyah Arbiwati, and AZ Purwono Budi Santosa): Nglegi Village has relatively good potential in the fields of agriculture, plantations and animal husbandry, and contributes as a food supply supplier to the areas in Patuk Subdistrict and its surroundings.Based on data from the Department of Agriculture and Food of the last 5 years in the Gunungkidul region, Nglegi Village is a producer of food crops such as cassava, rice and soybean, the second largest after Paliyan District. Thus this region is a producer of food crops in the District of Patuk. This studyaims to evaluate the soil fertility status, find out the obstacles and overcome problems and make a soil fertility map in Nglegi Village, Patuk District, Gunungkidul Regency. This study uses a survey method to describe the general condition of the area and the determination of sample points based on the Land Map Unit made by overlaying the land use map, and the slope map. Assessment of soil fertility status based on a combination of several parameters of soil chemical properties (PPT 1983).The results showed that there were two fertility statuses namely moderate and low fertility status. Fertility limiting factors are C-Organic and low Nitrogen levels. Giving organic material and fertilizers containing Nitrogen is one of the alternatives for solving this problem.soil Fertility status; Nglegi village
